1959년부터 한국 연안에서 발생한 상어 공격에 의한 인명피해는 모두 6건이며, 1명은 수영객이고, 나머지 5명은 전복 채취 해녀와 키초개 채취 잠수어민들이다. 사고는 1건을 제외하고 모두 5월에 발생하였으며, 상어의 공격을 받은 사람은 모두 사망하였다. 필자들은 2001년 5월에 이들 6건의 사고에 대해 미국판새어류학회의 국제상어피해목록(ISAF)에 처음으로 보고하였고, 피해사례는 ISAF에 3331~3336번으로 기록되었다. 한편 1996년부터 2001년까지 우리 나라 연근해에서 어선에 의해 포획되어 저자들에 의해 확인된 백상아리는 모두 9마리이며, 이 가운데 7마리는 상어에 의한 사고가 집중되고 있는 서해안에서 5월과 6월에 포획되었다. Six fatal attacks by sharks on shell divers occurred along the western coast of Korea from 1959 to 1996. The authors have reported these incidents to the International Shark Attack File(ISAF), which is maintained by the American Elasmobranch Society at the Florida Museum of Natural History. The present six Korean incidents are case-numbered 3331 to 3336. The incidents mostly happened in May, and Carcharodon carcharias were sighted and captured by fishing boats at the same time every year. Nine Carcharodon carcharias were captured by fishing boats near the Korean coast from 1996 to 2001, and seven of them were captured in the waters where the incidents occurred.

전북 부안군 청호저수지산 좀구굴치의 전골격계를 기재하고 도시하였다. 본종은 안하골에 안하골상이 있는 점, 내익상골이 후익상골로부터 분리하는 점, 견갑골이 이차상이고 상후의쇄골이 있는 점 등의 골학적인 특징을 보인다. 한편, 미골격과 등지느러미 담기골식에서는 많은 변이가 관찰되었다. The skeletal system of freshwater goby Micropercops swinhonis from Korea is figured and described in detail. The osteological characteristics of the species are as follows: infraorbital bearing a subocular shelf present; mesopterygoid present and separated from metapterygoid; scapula forked and dorsal postcleithrum present; and caudal skeleton and first dorsal pterygiophore formula highly variable.

페르시아만이 모식산지인 Upeneus doriae (Gu‥nther, 1869)를 18개체의 총모식표본 (66.4~-93.8㎜ SL)에 근거해 재기재하였다. 본 종은 체측에 황색종대가 있으며, 꼬리지느러미에 흑색 사행대가 없고 만입부가 검은 점에서 U. suhpureus와 매우 유사하지만, 외익상골에 이빨이 없고, 전서골에 이빨이 없거나 있어도 그 수가 적어 치대를 형성하지 않는 점, 그리고 하완새파수가 주로 23개로 많은 점에서 후자와 쉽게 구별된다. Upeneus doriae is redescribed based on type materials, and compared with its most similar species, U. sulphures. The former is most similar to the latter in overall body appearance and color pattern, but differs in having a larger number of gill rakers on the lower limb and in lacking ectopteryogid teeth and color pattern of the first dorsal fin as well as vomerine teeth.

Based on four juvenile specimens of Lutjanus collected from the southern coast of Jeju Island, three species, L. argentimaculatus, L. fulviflamma, and L. quinquelineatus, are described as the first record from Korea. The first species is easily differentiated from other lutjanid juveniles by distinct coloring of the dorsal, pelvic, and anal fins as well as two blue lines below the eye; the second species is characterized by having six yellowish brown stripes below the lateral line and a black spot on the side; the third species is identified by five longitudinal blue stripes and a black spot on the side when fresh. The new Korean names "Bul-geun-tung-dom," "Yuk-seon-jeomtung-dom," and "O-seon-tung-dom" are proposed for L. argentimaculatus, L. fulviflamma, and L. quinquelineatus, respectively.
Recent Situation of Taeniasis in Mongolia (2002-2012)

Epidemiological situation of taeniasis in Mongolia was assessed based on mitochondrial DNA identification of the parasite species. Multiplex PCR was used on a total of 194 proglottid specimens of Taenia species and copro-PCR and loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assays were utilized for detection of copro-DNA of 37 fecal samples from taeniasis patients submitted to the Mongolian National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) from 2002 to 2012. In addition, 4 out of 44 calcified cysts in beef kept in formalin since 2003 were evaluated for histopathological confirmation of cattle cysticercosis. All proglottid specimens and stool samples were confirmed to be Taenia saginata by multiplex PCR and by copro-PCR and LAMP, respectively. Cysts collected from cattle were morphologically confirmed to be metacestodes of Taenia species. T. saginata taeniasis was identified from almost all ages from a 2-year-old boy up to a 88-year-old woman and most prominently in 15-29 age group (37%, 74/198) followed by 30-44 age group (34.8%, 69/198 ) from 15 of Mongolia’s 21 provinces, while cattle cysticerci were found from 12 provinces. The highest proportion of taeniasis patients was in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
