<P>The herbal extract Angelica gigas (AG) has been applied as a vasodilating agent for patients suffering from vascular diseases for many years; however, the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated. The present study hypothesized that the anti-vasoconstrictive effect of AG may be effective in the treatment of abnormal cold-mediated vasospasms that occur in Raynaud's phenomenon (RP). The effect of AG on the activity of ras homolog gene family member A (RhoA) was investigated in cold-exposed vascular cells. Vascular cells were pretreated to AG, followed by a warm (37 degrees C) or cold (25 degrees C) incubation for 30 min and investigated with western blotting, ELISA and confocal microscopy. Cold treatment induced the activation of RhoA in pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, however this was reduced by treatment with AG. Furthermore, AG treatment reduced the endothelin-1 (ET-1)-mediated RhoA activation in pericytes; however, cold-induced ET-1 production by vascular endothelial cells was not affected by treatment with AG. In addition, AG treatment suppressed the formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes, and the cold-induced phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase, proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src and extracellular signal-related kinase. Therefore, AG treatment demonstrated an ability to reduce cold-induced RhoA activation in pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, and attenuated ET-1-mediated RhoA activation in pericytes. In conclusion, the present study indicated that AG may be useful for the treatment of RP.</P>

Some aerospace equipment use the mount tray for convenience of installation or uninstallation to the aerospace vehicle. In the aerospace vehicle, the weight is the most important factor to design the vehicle. Because, it has an influence on fuel, and that go into effect at cost. So, the mount tray is required to have not only strength, stiffness but also light weight. In this study, an analysis method of mount tray using finite element model(FEM) has been presented. Using this FEM, Vibration analysis and Acceleration analysis are conducted to confirm the structural safety. Structural analysis and material study were performed on mount tray. The finite element analysis(FEA) were performed with NASTRAN and the solid models were generated with IDEAS.
The Effects of Diverse Polling Methods on the Estimation of Candidates’ Approval Ratings:

In election polls, do the RLC (the ratio of landline surveying to cellphone surveying), response rate, ARS (Auto Response System) influence the estimation of candidates’ approval ratings and the gap between them? Using data on 86 election polls during the 19th presidential election, this paper empirically analyzes the effects of different polling methods – RLC, response rate, and ARS – on the estimation of approval ratings of electoral candidates. The results of empirical analysis show that the approval rating of Moon Jae-in (the progressive candidate who receives overwhelming support from the 20s and the 30s) tends to increase in election polls where the proportion of cellphone surveying is high, response rate is low, and ARS is adopted. After all, the result suggests that the deep generational cleavage and the solidity of the supporters are being reflected in election polls.

Knee bolster structure reducing driver’s femur load should be designed to get more than 5 star rating in US NCAP and satisfy FMVSS 208 during vehicle collision. However, although an optimal knee bolster design is applied by FE simulation, occupant’s femur load sometime exceeds safety criteria in sled test. One of dominant factors that make a difference between simulation and test is knee impact position. In reality, knee impact points of sled test could not be exactly coincident with that of FE simulation and have some distributions according to test environments. Therefore, it is necessary to consider a scattering of impact points of sled test. In this paper, a knee bolster design was derived by FE simulation which considered statistically knee impact position using EDR method which was very efficient and accurate for reliability analysis.

Recently, for cost saving purposes and to reduce the number of parts, chute type of PAB door is preferred when designing PAB Module. The chute type PAB having less mass and number of parts than that of steel-made, an optimization of tear seam and hinge structure is crucial, especially for successful opening of the door in the event of PAB deployment. In this study, a frequent failure of the door hinge was focused and failure modes were categorized based on past record that resulted failure, and a new way of designing the door was proposed to minimize the failure. As a consequence, sensitivity analysis with hinge structure as the design factor was conducted through finite element method and a design guideline to reduce failure was suggested based on the results.
SH003-induced G1 phase cell cycle arrest induces apoptosis in HeLa cervical cancer cells
Lee, Kang Min,Lee, Kangwook,Choi, Youn Kyung,Choi, Yu-Jeong,Seo, Hye-Sook,Ko, Seong-Gyu Spandidos Publications 2017 MOLECULAR MEDICINE REPORTS Vol.16 No.6
<P>Cervical cancer is a prevalent disease that may lead to mortality in women. In spite of the development of common therapeutic agents to treat cancer, there are several limitations of their use owing to side effects and drug resistance, which may induce cancer recurrence. The anticancer effects of the new herbal mixture SH003 (comprising Astragalus membranaceus, Angelica gigas and Trichosanthes kirilowii Maximowicz) have been examined in various types of cancer. Thus, the present study hypothesized that SH003 may be an effective treatment for cervical cancer. SH003 treatment inhibited the growth of HeLa cells, whereas it did not affect the growth of rat intestinal epithelial cells. In addition, SH003 treatment increased the expression of apoptosis-related proteins and promoted apoptotic cell death in HeLa cells. SH003 treatment also led to G1 phase arrest in HeLa cells. Furthermore, SH003 treatment induced the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS); however, ROS production did not appear to be related to SH003-mediated apoptosis. Results from the present study indicated that the SH003-induced inhibition of HeLa cell growth may be mediated through G1 phase arrest and extrinsic apoptosis, suggested that SH003 may be a potential treatment for cervical cancer.</P>

This paper deals with numerical analysis technique which can be applied in the prediction of front end back beam deformation behavior during low speed crash event(CMVSS215). Results of first impact simulation which is deformed shape, thickness, stress tensor and strain tensors are coupled for initial condition of next impact simulation. To consider the springback between each simulation, we carried out springback analysis with implicite finite element analysis code in PAM-STAMP and confirmed whether it will be worthwhile. Also, we carried out crash simulation considered successive impact with PAM-CRASH. The validity of coupled crash analysis has been examined through comparison with test data, consequently indicates good availability.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) enhanced the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) rating program. The previous rating program was based on the combined chance of serious injury to the head and chest. Now, the new program includes all of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208 body regions like head, neck, chest, and femur. The new program also uses a different crash test dummy (Hybrid III 5th%ile female dummy) in the frontal passenger side. In this paper, a comparative study on the femur load was accomplished to meet reliability and effectiveness.
