<P>The insular cortex (IC) is associated with important functions linked with pain and emotions. According to recent reports, neural plasticity in the brain including the IC can be induced by nerve injury and may contribute to chronic pain. Continuous active kinase, protein kinase M<I>ζ</I> (PKM<I>ζ</I>), has been known to maintain the long-term potentiation. This study was conducted to determine the role of PKM<I>ζ</I> in the IC, which may be involved in the modulation of neuropathic pain. Mechanical allodynia test and immunohistochemistry (IHC) of zif268, an activity-dependent transcription factor required for neuronal plasticity, were performed after nerve injury. After <I>ζ</I>-pseudosubstrate inhibitory peptide (ZIP, a selective inhibitor of PKM<I>ζ</I>) injection, mechanical allodynia test and immunoblotting of PKM<I>ζ</I>, phospho-PKM<I>ζ</I> (p-PKM<I>ζ</I>), and GluR1 and GluR2 were observed. IHC demonstrated that zif268 expression significantly increased in the IC after nerve injury. Mechanical allodynia was significantly decreased by ZIP microinjection into the IC. The analgesic effect lasted for 12 hours. Moreover, the levels of GluR1, GluR2, and p-PKM<I>ζ</I> were decreased after ZIP microinjection. These results suggest that peripheral nerve injury induces neural plasticity related to PKM<I>ζ</I> and that ZIP has potential applications for relieving chronic pain.</P>
Development of Gustatory Stimulation System for the Imaging of Taste Information Processing

Research for taste function is necessary as there are increasing interests in food ingestion and appetite. However, imaging studies for taste have been sparse because there are few taste stimulation devices. As neuroimaging technique advances, researches of brain function take advantage of brain imaging system. Here, we developed the taste stimulation system using non-conductive materials for brain imaging tool which is sensitive to magnetic artifact. There are three parts of this stimulator: Air flow control box, heat insulating tastant reservoir including supply tubing and mouthpiece for spraying tastant and suctioning waste solution. Firstly, air flow control box can supply and stop the compressed air in accurate timing, cycle and duration which can be adjusted. This controller can be located in outside of the imaging room, so that researcher can manipulate easily. Secondly, we installed the insulating tastant reservoir and tastant supply pipe to maintain the tastant temperature to body temperature. It is important part to obtain only taste signals. Lastly, the mouthpiece provides comfortable wearing sensation. Moreover, the mouthpiece can apply tastant to the specific tongue area using Y-shaped tubing and provide suction of tastant and washing solution. Therefore, the imaging study of taste information processing can be achieved successfully by using this gustatory stimulation system. 휴먼 브랜드 팬 커뮤니티 동일시의 선행요인에 관한 연구

휴먼 브랜드의 인기가 높아질수록 이들이 사람들에게 미치는 영향 또한 커지고 중요해지고 있다. 특정 휴먼 브랜드의 팬들은 자신들이 좋아하는 휴먼 브랜드에 대한 관심과 열정을 공유하고자 팬 커뮤니티를 만들거나 가입해서 활동을 하는 행동을 보이기도 한다. 이러한 과정에서 이들은 자신이 속한 팬 커뮤니티와 자신을 동일시하기도 하고 이런 동일시를 바탕으로 커뮤니티 기반의 그룹 활동을 통해서 자신들이 좋아하는 휴먼 브랜드를 지지하는 행동을 보이기도 한다. 이에 본 연구는 팬 커뮤니티 동일시에 영향을 미치는 선행요인을 찾고 이 관계를 더 강하게 하는 조절변수를 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 휴먼 브랜드에 대한 애착이 팬 커뮤니티 동일시에 긍정적으로 영향을 주는 선행변수로, 더 나아가, 이러한 관계를 더 강하게 만드는 요인으로 휴먼 브랜드-팬 커뮤니티 유사 성과 소속감 욕구가 조절변수의 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 관련 분야에 이론적인 시사점 뿐 아니라 실무적 시사점 또한 제공한다. As the human brands are becoming more popular and influential, their influences on the lives of people also getting more significant. Fans of certain human brands create or participate in the fan community to seek like-minded others for sharing same interests and enthusiasms. In doing so, fan community members identify themselves with the fan community and support the human brand they like by doing communitybased group behaviors. Thus, well-established fan communities are very influential and provide great marketing opportunities, suggesting the importance of the studying the fan communities. This study examined the dynamics among human brand, fans, and fan community identification. Results of the study found that attachment to human brand influences fan community identification positively. Furthermore, one community-related variable, human brand-fan community similarity, and one consumer-related variable, need for belongingness, were found to strengthen the relationship between human brand attachment and fan community identification. Implications that the results of this study provides are also discussed.
Hydrogen sulfide-producing cystathionine γ-lyase is critical in the progression of kidney fibrosis

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE), the last key enzyme of the transsulfuration pathway, is involved in the production of hydrogen sulfide (H<SUB>2</SUB>S) and glutathione (GSH), which regulate redox balance and act as important antioxidant molecules. Impairment of the H<SUB>2</SUB>S- and GSH-mediated antioxidant system is associated with the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD), characterized by kidney fibrosis and dysfunction. Here, we evaluated the role of CSE in the progression of kidney fibrosis after unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) using mice deficient in the <I>Cse</I> gene. UUO of wild-type mice reduced the expression of H<SUB>2</SUB>S-producing enzymes, CSE, cystathionine β-synthase, and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase in the obstructed kidneys, resulting in decreased H<SUB>2</SUB>S and GSH levels. <I>Cse</I> gene deletion lowered H<SUB>2</SUB>S and GSH levels in the kidneys. Deleting the <I>Cse</I> gene exacerbated the decrease in H<SUB>2</SUB>S and GSH levels and increase in superoxide formation and oxidative damage to proteins, lipids, and DNA in the kidneys after UUO, which were accompanied by greater kidney fibrosis, deposition of extracellular matrixes, expression of α-smooth muscle actin, tubular damage, and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Furthermore, <I>Cse</I> gene deletion exacerbated mitochondrial fragmentation and apoptosis of renal tubule cells after UUO. The data provided herein constitute in vivo evidence that <I>Cse</I> deficiency impairs renal the H<SUB>2</SUB>S- and GSH-producing activity and exacerbates UUO-induced kidney fibrosis. Design of product ontology architecture for collaborative enterprises

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>As enterprises are subject to cope with frequently changing business environment, enterprises should integrate value chains such as supply chain and design chain. Sharing product information must precede for the integration. However, because most of the participants have different business experience and business domains, interoperability of product information among enterprises should be guaranteed for collaboration. To achieve interoperability, we suggest product ontology architecture through the investigation of generic ontology architecture. We first suggest 4-layered ontology architecture for an integrated value chain. Extending this ontology architecture, we develop product ontology architecture which facilitates building product ontologies that are referred to all related participants inbound and outbound of the enterprise for collaboration. Using a product ontology, each enterprise can have semantic interoperability across each other for collaborative works. Because product ontologies have the feature of evolving through product lifecycle, the proposed product ontology architecture reflects this evolving feature to guarantee semantic interoperability.</P>
