In this paper, a practical design criteria for judgement of crack occurrence in weldments is presented as a function of typical welding parameters, such as diffusible hydrogen, restraint intensity, and preheating temperature. The elastic analyses using the finite element techniques are employed in order to quantify the restraint intensities, numerically. Systematic experiments are also conducted in order to investigate the propensity of crack to typical welding parameters. The results of numerical estimation using the proposed method for the experimental specimens show the usefulness as a practical tool in welding induced crack problems with extensive uncertainties.

In this paper, a numerical methodology for health monitoring of weldment was proposed using finite element method coupled with continuum damage mechanics. The welding-induced residual stress distribution of T-joint weldment was calculated using a commercial finite element package SYSWELD+. The distribution of latent damage was evaluated from the stress and strain components taken as the output of a finite element calculation. Numerical examples were given to demonstrate the usefulness of this so-called post-processing approach in the case of welding-induced damage assessment.

There are various and huge amount of rural amenity resources, so it is difficult to retrieve the proper informations. By using traditional retrieval techniques based on boolean-logic, it is difficult to measure the similarity between question and informations. In this research, a retrieval technique using information measure technique was introduced for rural amenity information retrieval. This retrieval techniques will present the results with the similarity order.

Assessment the quality of rural amenity resources, while difficult, is important for the adequate and efficient development of rural community. However, it is difficult to estimate the worth of rural amenity resources since rural amenities are abstract ideas. In this research, an information measurement technique (IMT) was applied to objectively assess the quality of amenity resources in rural community. The qualities of rural amenity resources of 574 villages in Jeollanamdo were assessed and most of the villages were gained 0~3 out of 10. The assessment results using IMT will be effective data when it is hard to assess the rural amenity or it is demanded to verify the assessment results.

In the evaluation of rural amenity, it is hard to estimate the worth of rural amenity as numerical values. To evaluate the worth of an abstract idea, information measure technique(IMT) can be used. In this research, rural amenity priority assessment model(RAPAM) was developed adapting IMT. To apply the developed model for assessment of rural amenity, an encyclopedia was used as information gathering and utilizing system(IGUS). The application result of the developed model which was compared with the result of survey have similar trend. $R^{2}$ is 0.8539, RMSE is 0.382 and the applicability of RAPAM was proved.

Propriety of PERT network for planning and management in large-scale systems was investigated. We also review the example of small and middle size system to compare the appropriateness of PERT analysis method. For comparing the appropriateness of PERT analysis method the calculation time, and the variances were estimated. Eventualy, we proposed the criteria of PERT analysis method for planning and management large-scale systems.

Rural information, rural amenity data, can be used for analysis of regional characteristics. But reasonable analysis of the information is quite difficult because of its abstract nature. Generally, the analysis of the qualitative data is operated with the results of survey or experts' assessment. It takes enormous time and effort, and doesn't make a uniform result. To overcome those problems, the Information Measuring Technique (IMT) based on information theory was developed by Jung (2003). Several researches adopt the IMT to analyze qualitative characteristics quantitatively. IMT can measure the quantity of information as numerical value. Still, IMT needs to be advanced and the way about how to improve it was discussed for more proper analysis of rural information.

Super duplex stainless steels (sDSS) are excellent for use under severely corrosive conditions such as offshore and marine applications like pipelines and flanges. sDSS has better mechanical properties and corrosion resistance than the standard duplex stainless steel (DSS) but it is easier for a sigma phase to appear, which depresses the mechanical property and corrosion resistance, compared to DSS, because sDSS has a higher alloy element than DSS. In addition, sDSS has a feeble ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) because it has a 50% ferrite microstructure. In the actual operating environment, sDSS would be thermally affected by welding and a sub-zero temperature environment. This study analyzed how precipitated sDSS behaves at a sub-zero temperature through annealing heat treatment and a sub-zero tensile test. Six types of specimens with annealing times of up to 60 min were tested in a sub-zero chamber. According to the experimental results, an increase in the annealing time reduced the elongation of sDSS, and a decrease in the tensile test temperature raises the flow stress and tensile stress. In particular, the elongation of specimens annealed for 15 min and 30 min was clearly lowered with a decrease in the tensile test temperature because of the increasing sigma phase fraction ratio.

In this study, the numerical analysis model for fatigue life prediction of welded structures are presented. In order to evaluate the structural degradation of welded structures due to fatigue loading, continuum damage mechanics approach is applied. Damage evolution equation of welded structures under arbitrary fatigue loading is constructed as a unified plasticity-damage theory. Moreover, by integration of damage evolution equation regarding to stress amplitude and number of cycles, the simplified fatigue life prediction model is derived. The proposed model is compared with fatigue test results of T-joint welded structures to obtain its validation and usefulness. It is confirmed that the predicted fatigue life of T-joint welded structures are coincided well with the fatigue test results.
