Single molecule tracking technique has been widely used for studying biophysical processes, such as the diffusion of protein in cell membrane or the movement of molecular motors. A method to measure the position change of fluorescing single particles designed for a confocal fluorescence microscope. This method can be used to measure relative distance on the scale of 10nm with 1ms temporal resolution. By moving around the excitation beam in a circular orbit, photons emitted by fluorescence molecules are detected. The fluorescence signal depends on the relative position of the fluorescent molecule with respect to the circle of rotation. After each rotation, the center of rotation is moved to new position so that single molecule tracking can be achieved.

Because shoulder diseases including the frozen shoulder, rotator cuff disease, and degenerative arthrosis have been rapidly increased, the need to develop a system that can measure quantitatively and objectively has been suggested for achieving the effective exercise and rehabilitation. However, the current method for therapeutic exercise of the shoulder joint consists of the manipulation directly performed by a doctor or physical therapist and self-passive joint movement through patient education. Recently, with the rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) and combined with rehabilitative medicine, innovative changes are being made in the clinical field. In this paper, we introduce a system that can objectively and quantitatively evaluate the shoulder range of motion. This is a system that utilizes the image processing and server technology of a smartphone without purchasing additional equipment and can be used by himself. The assessment of shoulder motion was performed based on the normal arm and, when involved in both arms, they were evaluated with a single arm. With the development of intuitive UI/UX for this system, we will continue to conduct R&D with the orthopaedic surgeons who were affiliated with the medical university for constructing the raw data and conducting the clinical research.

In order to measure the mechanical-property of bio-molecules, we use a center-hollow type ultra-fine positioning stage, which is designed for an inverted microscope. Because the experiment takes several minutes, the stage should not have drift for several minutes. Nevertheless, the ultra-fine positioning stage has a lot of thermal drift. Especially, the thermal error in position sensing system makes significant drift. Therefore, to control the thermal drift, I suggest a compensation design in sensing system. It will reduce the thermal drift in system by 10~30 times.

With popularization of camera function in mobile phones, assembly process of miniaturized phone camera modules need to be automatized for the mass production. We developed the gripper system for mobile phone camera module assembly. This system includes the lens module and camera module assembly system. Optical parts in camera module have various shapes. And each design of parts can be changed with needs of market. So, we focused on the adaptability and flexibility of assembly process in the system design. And to estimate the state of insertion, we measured tilting position error of optical parts in barrel with optical apparatus.
