        Roll Bonding Behaviour of Al-3003/Al-4043 and Al-3003/Zn Sheets

        In the present study, the roll bonding behaviour of Al-3003/Al-4043 and Al-3003/Zn sheets were compared. The bi-layer sheets were produced by a roll bonding process at different reductions in thickness and rolling temperatures. The joint strengths of the sheets were evaluated by peel and bend testing before and after supplemental annealing treatment. The peeled surfaces were examined using a scanning electron microscope. The results indicated that the Al-3003/Al-4043 sheets were bonded with higher joint strength and lower threshold reductions in thickness with respect to the Al-3003/Zn sheets. In contrast to the Al-3003/Zn sheets, significant improvement was observed in the joint strength of the Al-3003/Al-4043 sheets after annealing treatment. Moreover, electron microscopy examinations showed that the fracture types of the Al-3003/Al-4043 and Al-3003/Zn sheets were predominantly ductile and brittle, respectively.

      • Diabetic peripheral neuropathy class prediction by multicategory support vector machine model: a cross-sectional study

        OBJECTIVES: Diabetes is increasing in worldwide prevalence, toward epidemic levels. Diabetic neuropathy, one of the most common complications of diabetes mellitus, is a serious condition that can lead to amputation. This study used a multicategory support vector machine (MSVM) to predict diabetic peripheral neuropathy severity classified into four categories using patients’ demographic characteristics and clinical features. METHODS: In this study, the data were collected at the Diabetes Center of Hamadan in Iran. Patients were enrolled by the convenience sampling method. Six hundred patients were recruited. After obtaining informed consent, a questionnaire collecting general information and a neuropathy disability score (NDS) questionnaire were administered. The NDS was used to classify the severity of the disease. We used MSVM with both one-against-all and one-against-one methods and three kernel functions, radial basis function (RBF), linear, and polynomial, to predict the class of disease with an unbalanced dataset. The synthetic minority class oversampling technique algorithm was used to improve model performance. To compare the performance of the models, the mean of accuracy was used. RESULTS: For predicting diabetic neuropathy, a classifier built from a balanced dataset and the RBF kernel function with a one-against-one strategy predicted the class to which a patient belonged with about 76% accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study indicate that, in terms of overall classification accuracy, the MSVM model based on a balanced dataset can be useful for predicting the severity of diabetic neuropathy, and it should be further investigated for the prediction of other diseases.

        The Mediating Role of Organizational Learning in the Relationship of Organizational Intelligence and Organizational Agility

        Objectives: Organizational learning is defined as creating, absorbing, retaining, transferring, and application of knowledge within an organization. This article aims to examine the mediating role of organizational learning in the relationship of organizational intelligence and organizational agility. Methods: This analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015 at four teaching hospitals of Yazd city, Iran. A total of 370 administrative and medical staff contributed to the study. We used stratified-random method for sampling. Required data were gathered using three valid questionnaires including Alberkht (2003) organizational intelligence, Neefe (2001) organizational learning, and Sharifi and Zhang (1999) organizational agility questionnaires. Data analysis was done through R and SPSS 18 statistical software. Results: The results showed that organizational learning acts as a mediator in the relationship of organizational intelligence and organizational agility (path coefficient = 0.943). Also, organizational learning has a statistical relationship with organizational agility (path coefficient = 0.382). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the improvement of organizational learning abilities can affect an organization’s agility which is crucial for its survival.

        Evaluation and Prediction of Metabolite Production, Antioxidant Activities, and Survival of Lactobacillus casei 431 in a Pomegranate Juice Supplemented Yogurt Drink Using Support Vector Regression

        Changes in physicochemical properties, metabolite production, antioxidant activities, and survival of Lactobacillus casei 431 in a yogurt drink as a function of inulin (0, 0.5, 1, and 2%), pomegranate juice concentrations (0, 3, 8, and 12%) and storage time were determined and predictive models were obtained using support vector regression. High levels of pomegranate juice were the most effective for promotion of antioxidant activity. Acidity and lactic acid amounts decreased with an increasing inulin content. Supplementation with inulin and pomegranate juice showed a positive effect on survival of L. casei. Support vector regression performance associated with polynomial and radial basis kernel functions was evaluated. The former was more efficient than the later.
