As the third part of the taxonomic review of Cicadidae (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha) from Taiwan, 18 species belonging to six genera in cicadine tribes, Dundubiini (two other genera of Cicadina) and Moganiini, and a tibicinine tribe, Huechysini, are treated in this paper. A new genus, Formocicada Lee and Hayashi, and two new species, Tanna infuscata Lee and Hayashi and Formocicada taiwana Lee and Hayashi, are described. Four species are synonymized: Tanna taikosana Kato, 1925 and Tanna horiensis Kato, 1926 with Tanna taipinensis (Matsumura, 1907), and Tanna horishana Kato, 1925 and Tanna tarowanensis (Matsumura, 1927) with Tanna viridis Kato, 1925. Cryptotympana facialis (Walker, 1858), Cosmopsaltria doryca (Boisduval, 1835), and Leptopsaltria tuberosa (Signoret, 1847) are newly considered as species erroneously recorded from Taiwan. Informations on the biology and male chirpings are also provided.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>It is known that emotion regulatory responses of humans are changed by the experiences they have, but in particular, they are changed by becoming a mother. A recent study has found how a woman’s emotion regulatory response to a child’s crying changes after becoming a mother. However, mothers’ emotion regulatory responses other than those to children and the association between emotion regulatory response and parental stress are still unknown.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Eighteen healthy Japanese females (nine mothers and nine non-mothers) participated in the experiment. They performed an emotional Go/Nogo task, with facial expressions of others (angry, happy, and neutral faces) used as emotional stimuli. The percentage of correct responses, response time, and event-related potentials (ERPs) during the task was measured.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>This comparison revealed that the mother group had a larger P3 (Nogo-P3) amplitude than the non-mother group when Nogo trials were held. This indicates that in mothers, there was greater activation of the behavioral inhibition-related brain areas than in non-mother women when they inhibited inappropriate behavior following recognition of facial expressions of others. In addition, in the mother group, there was a negative correlation between parental stress levels and Nogo-P3 amplitudes evoked by angry faces. This suggests that there is a relation between the level of parental stress of mothers and their emotion regulatory responses to angry faces.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Our results demonstrate that mothers’ emotion regulatory processes may differ from those of non-mothers in response, not only to a child’s crying but also to expressions of emotions by others, and also suggest that the inhibitory recognition activity of mothers can be affected by parental stress.</P>

<P>It was shown recently by Conti, Rordam and Szymanski that there exist endomorphisms lambda(u) of the Cuntz algebra O-n such that lambda(u) (F-n) subset of F-n but u is not an element of F-n and a question was raised if for such a u there must always exist a unitary v is an element of F-n with lambda(u) | F-n = lambda(v) | F-n. In the present paper, we answer this question to the negative. To this end, we analyze the structure of such endomorphisms lambda(u) for which the relative commutant lambda(u) (F-n)' boolean AND F-n is finite dimensional. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. Raft is a distinctive membrane domain enriched in a certain class of lipids, cholesterol, and proteins observed on the plasma membrane. Growing evidence has revealed that such membrane domains play key roles in signal transduction, fertilization, development, transmitter release, and so on. Recently, we have isolated raft-like detergent-resistant membrane (DRM) fraction from bovine photoreceptor rod outer segments. Transducin and its effecter, cGMP-phosphodiesterase, elicited stimulus-dependent translocation between detergent-soluble membrane and DRM. This suggested potential importance of such distinct membrane domains in vertebrate phototransduction. Here, we will discuss physiological meaning of the translocation of major components of cGMP cascade to raft-like membrane in phototransduction. We would like to propose a hypothesis that raft-like membrane domains on the disk membrane are the place where cGMP cascade system could be quenched.

Chemical processing of $Nb_2O_5$coated $BaTiO_3$-composite particles was investigated with surface modification through hydrolysis of niobium ethoxide on the surface of $BaTiO_3$ particles. It was clarified from BET measurement, SEM&TEM observations and Zeta-potential that origineal $BaTiO_3$ particles were homogeneously coated or modified with niobium hydroxide particles. $Nb_2O_5(1wt%)$-coated $BaTiO_3$ bodies sintered at 1250-$1257^{\circ}C$ exhibited a rather flat temperature characteristic with dielectric constants of 2200-3000 and $tan{\delta}\; of\;{\leqq}1%$. The microstructure on $Nb_2O_5$-coated $BaTiO_3$ sintered bodies consisted of grains of several ${\mu}m which are much smaller than those of $BatiO_3$ sintered bodies, suggesting that the grain growth of $BaTiO_3$ was suppressed by Nb205 particles existing existing at the grain boundaries.
Studies on Microstructural Phenomena Caused by Atomic Diffusion in Sintered Materials

During the sintering of powder materials, many these are microstructural phenomena are caused by atomic diffusion. (1) neck formation and compact densification, (2) grain growth, i.e., growth of matrix grains and dispersed grains, (3) alloying or generation of compound, (4) generations of peculiar and hard layers near sintered compact surface, etc. The studies of the present author and co-workers on these phenomena which were carried out during 40 years are briefly introduced.
Constraints on GUT 7-brane topology in F-theory

We study the relation between phenomenological requirements and the topology of the surfaces that GUT 7-branes wrap in F-theory compactifications. In addition to the exotic matter free condition in the hypercharge flux scenario of SU(5)<SUB>GUT</SUB> breaking, we analyze a new condition that comes from a discrete symmetry aligning the contributions to low-energy Yukawa matrices from a number of codimension-three singularity points. We see that the exotic matter free condition excludes Hirzebruch surfaces (except F<SUB>0</SUB>) as the GUT surface, correcting an existing proof in the literature. We further find that the discrete symmetry for the alignment of the Yukawa matrices excludes del Pezzo surfaces and a rational elliptic surface as the GUT surface. Therefore, some GUT 7-brane surfaces are good for some phenomenological requirements, but sometimes not for others, and this aspect should be kept in mind in geometry search in F-theory compactifications.
