Stability Analysis of Closely Star-battened Member of Transmission Tower
Han Jun-ke,Zhang Chun-lei,Li Zhen-bao,Wang Xu-ming 한국강구조학회 2017 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.17 No.3
Stability of the closely star-battened member of a power transmission tower were researched in this paper, a theoretical analysis was conducted for the buckling mode of the closely star-battened member by different plate batten arrangements. The analytical method of the buckling capacity on the closely star-battened member was proposed here considering an arrangement type of the plate batten and they are compared with the results of a full-scale test. The conclusions are follows: the flexuraltorsional buckling did not happened for the closely star-battened member; the flexural buckling need to be calculated only after the strength reduction factor was considered; the stability-bearing capacity of the closely star-battened member of the line-shape type batten is slightly less than that of the cross-shape type batten; the stability-bearing capacity of the closely star-battened member can be improved when the number of bolts in the plate batten increases in a suitable extent; and the stability-bearing capacity calculated and test results agree well with each other when the stability-bearing capacity analytical method of the closely star-battened member was used to analyze the full-scale test tower. The experimental results show the calculation method is reasonable.

A recent study summarized several published genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of cancer and reported two pleiotropic loci at 6p21.1 and 7p15.3 contributing to multiple cancers including lung cancer, noncardia gastric cancer (NCGC), and esophageal squamous-cell carcinoma (ESCC) in Han Chinese. However, it is not known whether such genetic variants have similar effects on the risk of gynecologic cancers, such as ovarian cancer. Hence, we explored associations between genetic variants in 6p21.1 and 7p15.3 and ovarian cancer risk in Han Chinese women. We performed an independent case-control study by genotyping the two loci (rs2494938 A > G at 6p21.1 and rs2285947 A > G at 7p15.3) in a total of 377 ovarian cancer cases and 1,034 cancer-free controls using TaqMan allelic discrimination assay. We found that rs2285947 at 7p15.3 was significantly associated with risk of ovarian cancer with per allele odds ratio (OR) of 1.33 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.08-1.64, P=0.008]. However, no significant association was observed between rs2494938 and ovarian cancer risk. Our results showed that rs2285947 at 7p15.3 may also contribute to the development of ovarian cancer in Han Chinese women, further suggesting pleiotropy of 7p15.3 in multiple cancers.

Aim: Individual differences in chemosensitivity and clinical outcome in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy may be due to genetic factors. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic role of GSTP1, XRCC1 and XRCC3 in NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 460 cases were consecutively selected from The Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University between Jan. 2003 to Nov. 2006, and all were followed-up until Nov. 2011. Genotyping of GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC1 Arg399Gln and XRCC3 Thr241Met was conducted by duplex polymerase-chain-reaction with confronting-two-pair primer methods. Results: Patients with GSTP Val/Val exhibited a shorter survival time, and had a 1.89 fold greater risk of death than did those with the IIe/IIe genotype. For XRCC1 Arg194Trp, the variant genotype Trp/Trp was significantly associated with a decreased risk of death from NSCLC when compared with the Arg/Arg. Individuals carrying XRCC1 399Gln/Gln genotype had a longer survival time, with a lowered risk of death from NSCLC. Conclusion: This study indicated that GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp and XRCC1Arg399Gln genes have a role in modifying the effect of platinum-based chemotherapy for NSCLC patients in a Chinese population. Our findings provide information for therapeutic decisions for individualized therapy in NSCLC cases.

Bacillus subtilis B006 strain effectively suppresses the cucumber fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum (Foc). The population dynamics of Foc, strain B006 and its surfactin over-producing mutant B841 and surfactin-deficient mutant B1020, in the rhizosphere were determined under greenhouse conditions to elucidate the importance of the lipopeptides excreted by these strains in suppressing Foc. Results showed that B. subtilis strain B006 effectively suppressed the disease in natural soil by 42.9%, five weeks after transplanting, whereas B841 and B1020 suppressed the disease by only 22.6% and 7.1%, respectively. Quantitative PCR assays showed that effective colonization of strain B006 in the rhizosphere suppressed Foc propagation by more than 10 times both in nursery substrate and in field-infected soil. Reduction of Foc population at the cucumber stems in a range of 0.96 log10 ng/g to 2.39 log10 ng/g was attained at the third and the fifth weeks of B006 treatment in nursery substrate. In field-infected soil, all three treatments with B. subtilis suppressed Foc infection, indicated by the reduction of Foc population at a range of 2.91 log10 ng/g to 3.36 log10 ng/g at the stem base, one week after transplanting. This study reveals that the suppression of fusarium wilt disease is affected by the effective colonization of the surfactin-producing B. subtilis strain in the rhizosphere. These results improved our understanding of the biocontrol mechanism of the B. subtilis strain B006 in the natural soil and facilitate its application as biocontrol agent in the field.

Gao, Jun,Liu, Chang,Tan, Jibo,Zhang, Ziyu,Wu, Xinqiang,Han, En-Hou,Shen, Rui,Wang, Bingxi,Ke, Wei Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.8
Low cycle fatigue behaviors of SA508-3 low-alloy steel were investigated in room-temperature air, high-temperature air and in light water reactor (LWR) water environments. The fatigue mean curve and design curve for the low-alloy steel are developed based on the fatigue data in room-temperature and high-temperature air. The environmental fatigue model for low-alloy steel is developed by the environmental fatigue correction factor (Fen) methodology based on the fatigue data in LWR water environments with the consideration of effects of strain rate, temperature, and dissolved oxygen concentration on the fatigue life.

Due to the complexity of modeling and the strong transmission coupling, the rich background of rigid actuator control has not been transferred to variable stiffness actuator (VSA). Therefore, most model-based control techniques developed for VSA require feedback linearization first. Alternatively, VSA can use non-model-based control techniques such as PD control, but it does not show strong robustness under disturbances. This paper is concerned with designing a novel adaptive neural network backstepping control scheme without using feedback linearization for a special VSA with saturation inputs, output constraints, and disturbances. Firstly, for ensuring the VSA with lower tracking error and higher security, the prescribed performance-tangent barrier Lyapunov function (PP-TBLF) is introduced to handle the prescribed output performance constraints. Subsequently, the Chebyshev neural network and the Nussbaum-type function are exploited to approximate the unknown nonlinearities and unknown gains. Meanwhile, the inverse hyperbolic sine function tracking differentiator is utilized to solve the “explosion of complexity” caused by the differentiation of virtual inputs and also approximate the complex partial derivatives caused by the auxiliary control signals. Finally, the stability of the whole scheme is proved by the Lyapunov criterion. The simulation results illustrate the raised control scheme’s feasibility and show a better closed-loop behavior relative to that obtained using a classic PD controller.
