      • Distribution of Glutathione S-Transferase Omega Gene Polymorphism with Different Stages of HBV Infection Including Hepatocellular Carcinoma in the Egyptian Population

Shaban, Nadia Z,Salem, Halima H,Elsadany, Mohamed A,Ali, Bahy A,Hassona, Ehab M,Mogahed, Fayed AK Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.4

Background: Infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major global public health problem, with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. Human cytosolic glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) include several classes such as alpha (A), mu (M), pi (P), sigma (S), zeta (Z), omega (O) and theta (T). The present study aimed to investigate the role of GST omega genes (GSTO1 and GSTO2) in different groups of patients infected with HBV. Materials and Methods: HBV groups were classified according to clinical history, serological tests and histological analysis into normal carriers (N), acute (A), chronic (CH), cirrhosis (CI) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases. The study focused on determination of the genotypes of GST omega genes (GSTO1 and GSTO2) and GST activity and liver function tests. Results: The results showed that GSTO1 (A/A) was decreased in N, A, CH, CI and HCC groups compared to the C-group, while, GSTO1 (C/A) and GSTO1(C/C) genotypes were increased significantly in N, A, CH, CI and HCC groups. GSTO2 (A/A) was decreased in all studied groups as compared to the C-group but GSTO2(A/G) and GSTO2(G/G) genotypes were increased significantly. In addition, GST activities, albumin and TP levels were decreased in all studied groups compared to the C-group, while the activities of transaminases were increased to differing degrees. Conclusions: The results indicate that GSTO genetic polymorphisms may be considered as biomarkers for determining and predicting the progression of HBV infection.

Innovation of Radically New Colorant Hybrid Nanocomposite for Printing Various Textile Fabrics

        A. A. Hebeish,A. A. Shahin,A. A. Ragheb,I. Abd El-Thalouth,E. E. Allam,H. A. Shaban 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.1

New benign colorant nanoparticles were innovated. The innovation is based on reacting the Indigo Blue Vat Dye with a natural clay named montmorillonite (K10) under sonication. A mixture of the dye and clay (1:1) at a ratio was used. The obtained new colorant nanoparticles in the form of hybrid nanocomposites were applied as a nano pigment in printing on various fabrics. The new colorant succeeded in printing silk, wool, cotton, polyester, and nylon as well as their different blends in the presence and absence of binder. Prints of the new colorant were compared with those obtained usingcommercial pigment. The effect of adding different amounts of binder to the printing paste on major technical properties of the prints was also investigated. Evaluation of the various printed fabrics was performed through monitoring color strength (K/S), TEM images, SEM micrographs, and overall fastness properties.

Impact of hydrophobic tails of new phospho-zwitterionic surfactants on the structure, catalytic, and biological activities of AgNPs

        Ahmed H. Elged,Samy M. Shaban,M.M. Eluskkary,I. Aiad,E.A. Soliman,Asma M. Elsharif,김동환 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.94 No.-

In this study, three anionic-cationic zwitterionic Gemini surfactants containing three differenthydrophobic tails were prepared and their chemical structures were confirmed by Fourier transforminfrared (FTIR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The hydrophobic tail of thesynthesized phospho-zwitterionic Gemini surfactants significantly affected the morphological structureof silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) prepared using a photochemical reduction method, which utilizedsunlight as a surplus source of a reducing agent. Increasing the hydrophobic tail length of the surfactantpromoted the formation of AgNPs exhibiting smaller particle sizes with a uniform structure. Moreover, asconfirmed by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM), these AgNPs displayed higher stability in solution than those synthesized inthe presence of Gemini surfactants with a shorter hydrocarbon tail. The impact of tail variation on thecatalytic and antimicrobial performance of AgNPs was also examined. The synthesized surfactant/AgNPsystems showed remarkable catalytic activity in the removal of certain toxic pollutants, including paranitrophenol(p-NP) and methylene blue (MB), which were converted into less toxic compounds in thepresence of NaBH4. Notably, the surfactant exhibiting the longest chain hydrocarbon, i.e., ZGH, producedAgNPs with the highest catalytic activity. This is thefirst study concerning the effects of the surfactant tailon the catalytic activity of NPs. The good biological performance of the synthesized Gemini surfactantsagainst sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) demonstrated their potential for application in mitigating thegrowth of SRB during petroleum treatment processes. The combination of the synthesized surfactantswith AgNPs significantly enhanced their biological performance.

Sub-switching domain effect for analysis the non-linear dielectric behavior of (K0.49 Na0.49Li0.02) (Nb0.98Sb0.02)O3 ceramic based on Rayleigh model

        Atito Ibrahim A.,Shaban H. T.,Salem A.,Ezzeldien Mohammed,Mahmoud Abd El-razek 한국세라믹학회 2022 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.59 No.5

The solid-state sintering technique has been implemented to synthesize (K 0.5 Na 0.5 NbO 3 )-0.02(LiSbO 3 ) (KNN-LS) Pb- free ceramic. The crystal structure, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the prepared material were investigated. Pure orthorhombic perovskite phase [ I (220) / I (002) = 1.68] with Amm2 space group has been detected at room temperature for sintered ceramic. Two anomalous permittivity peaks corresponding to orthorhombic–tetragonal (O–T) phase transition at T = 175 °C and tetragonal–cubic (T–C) phase transition at T = 355 °C have been observed. At polymorphic phase transition, the Ray- leigh model shown the extrinsic contributions caused by domain wall motion is about 80%, while the intrinsic contribution attributed to the lattice distortion is about 20%. Ferroelectric properties were investigated in a wide range of temperatures (RT-225)°C. The results shown a conductive material at high temperature due to the higher cation disorder and leakage cur- rent above PPT. The present results are interested for understanding the mechanism of t permittivity–temperature behavior of KNN-doped LS ions based on Rayleigh model. The large remnant polarization and low coercive fi eld below PPT make the material a suitable candidate for energy storage application.
