      • Synthesis of a Watt II six-bar linkage in the design of a hand rehabilitation robot

Gezgin, E.,Chang, P.H.,Akhan, A.F. Pergamon Press 2016 Mechanism and machine theory Vol.104 No.-

As a result of neurological disorders such as stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, disability in body regions might occur. In case of similar situations, rapid therapeutic training in early stages has chance to prevent permanent disability by retraining motor movements. In regular treatments, therapists help to carry out regular exercises to train motor movements of the disabled region. However, continuous increase in cases, tough working conditions, dependability on expertise and human body limitations make the procedures cumbersome and ineffective. Incorporating robots into therapeutic training not only allows executing treatments in a delicate repeatability but also opens new possibilities in terms of exercise types and speeds. In the light of recent developments in robotic rehabilitation this paper presents the design of a hand rehabilitation robot for human four fingers that solely targets hand disabilities by utilizing real grasping motion data of the forefinger into kinematic synthesis of Watt II six-bar linkage. During the design geometrical synthesis was used for the first loop in order to attain continuous input rotation and the body-guidance synthesis was used for the second loop for the end effector to follow the desired trajectory in desired orientations.

Some Characteristics and Isolation of Novel Thermostable β-Galactosidase from Thermus oshimai DSM 12092

        Yüksel Gezgin,Bahattin Tanyolac,Rengin Eltem 한국식품과학회 2013 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.22 No.1

The β-galactosidases belong to the class of hydrolytic enzymes and have been used as lactose hyrolysis. The enzyme is used in reducing lactose milk production, an outstanding industrial product used by a large lactoseintolerant population. This is the first detailed report of some characteristics of β-galactosidase and the gene encoding β-galactosidase in Thermus oshimai DSM 12092. The growth rate (μ, 1/h), and the doubling time (tD, h) for T. oshimai grown both in shaking flasks and in a bioreactor were determined. The optimal temperature and pH for β-galactosidase were determined as 75oC and 7.4, respectively. This enzyme was thermostable and was retained by more than 70% at 90oC for 3 h. The β-galactosidase from T. oshimai DSM 12092 was more stable in basic pH and Zn2+was the most effective divalent cation. Also, 2 steps of purification consisting of ammonium sulfate precipitation and gel filtration were employed and purified 32-fold.

The electrical properties of ZnO/Si heterojunction diode depending on thin film thickness

        Akın Ümmühan,Houimi Amina,Gezgin Bahri,Gündoğdu Yasemin,Kılıç Sümeyye,Mercimek Bedrettin,Berber Adnan,Gezgin Serap Yiğit 한국물리학회 2022 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.81 No.2

In this work, ZnO thin flms have been produced on p-Si wafer depending on number of laser pulses applied using pulse laser deposition (PLD) technique at room temperature conditions. Three diferent thicknesses of ZnO thin flms (ZnO1, ZnO2 and ZnO3) have been produced by applying 18,000, 36,000 and 54,000 laser pulses and thicknesses of these produced three thin flms have been measured to be 41 nm, 70 nm, 197 nm, respectively. It is observed in this work that while thicknesses of ZnO thin flms increases, crystal structure of thin flms develops, their grain size increase while their band gaps decrease. Ag/ZnO/ Si/Au heterojunction diodes have been produced based on ZnO1, ZnO2 and ZnO3 thin flms. After that, efect of thickness of thin flm on electrical properties of diodes produced depending on number of laser pulses has been analyzed in detail. I–V characteristics of ZnO/Si heterojunction diodes produced have also been measured in darkness environment and under illumination conditions (AM 1.5 solar radiation of 80 mW/cm2 ) and results obtained have been interpreted and a conclusion has been made in this work. Furthermore, ideality factors, barrier heights and serial resistivities of these diodes have been calculated using conventional thermionic emission theory, Norde and Cheung-Cheung methods and then results obtained from analytical methods have been interpreted in detail in the present article. ZnO heterojunction diodes have exhibited photovoltaic properties under illumination conditions. It has been observed that as thickness of ZnO thin flm is increased, Jsc and η values of the hetero junction diodes are increased. ZnO-3A hetero junction diode has exhibited the most improved photovoltaic performance. We have also theoretically investigated photo-electric properties of ZnO-3A heterojunction diode using SCAPS-1D packed software. The resulted J–V characteristics have been found very similar to measured counterparts.

      • General Subtask Controller for Redundant Robot Manipulators

        Omar W. Maaroof,Erkin Gezgin,Mehmet ?smet Can Dede 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10

This paper will utilize the property of self-motion for redundant robot manipulators by designing the general subtask controller that control the joint motion in the null-space of the Jacobian matrix. The general subtask controller is used for minimizing the total joint motion and for singularity avoidance in this study. Specifically, objective function for each subtask is formed and then the gradient of the objective function is used in the subtask controller to either minimize the joint motion or avoid singularities while tracking a given end-effector trajectory. A 7-DOF LWA4-Arm (SCHUNK) is modeled first in SolidWorks® and then converted to MATLAB® Simulink using SimMechanics CAD translator for the simulation tests of the controller. The kinematics and dynamics equations are derived to be used in the controllers and the simulation results are presented for the 7-DOF redundant robot manipulator operating in 3D space.

Determination of Minerals Extracted from Several Commercial Teas (Camellia sinensis) to Hot Water (Infusion)

Mehmet Musa Ozcan,Sait Gezgin,Emine Atalay 한국식품영양과학회 2006 Journal of medicinal food Vol.9 No.1

Mineral contents of some tea and their infusions drunk in Turkey were established by inductively coupledplasma atomic emission spectrometry. The Al, Ca, K, Mg, Mn, P, and S contents were very high in both infusions and tea(i.e., pieces of the tea plant). The As, Cd, Cr, Li, Pb, and Se contents of infusion and tea were found to be very low. The levelof K of all samples is higher than those of other minerals. Generally, mineral contents of tea were found to be higher thanthose of tea infusions. In addition, the health benefits of teas and knowledge of their mineral contents are of great interest andmay be useful for further study of enzyme systems and vital biochemical functions.
