Object-oriented approach to the construction of an omni vehicle dynamical model

Omni vehicles are equipped with omni wheels, which are built with rollers along the rims. This study implements several steps to developa dynamical model for an omni vehicle multibody system. The dynamics of a free roller that moves in gravity and features a unilateralcontact constraint with a horizontal surface is first modeled. Contact tracking is performed with the use of a simplified and efficientalgorithm. An omni wheel model is then developed and debugged. A whole vehicle model is subsequently assembled as a container classthat comprises arrays of objects as instantiated classes, which are in fact models of omni wheels and joints. The dynamical properties ofthe resulting model are illustrated through numerical experiments.
Mechanically Driven Decomposition of Intermetallics

Mechanically driven decomposition of intermetallics during mechanical milling(MM 1 was investigated. This process for Fe-Ce and Fe-Sn system was studied using conventional XRD, DSC, magnetization and alternative current susceptibility measurements. Mechanical alloying and milling form products of the following composition (in sequence of increasing Gecontent): $\alpha$(${\alpha}_1$) bcc solid solution, $\alpha$+$\beta$-phase ($Fe_{2-x}Ge$), $\beta$-phase, $\beta$+FeGe(B20), FeGE(B20), FeGe(B20)+$FeGe_2$,$FeGe_2$,$FeGe_2$+Ge, Ge. Incongruently melting intermetallics $Fe_6Ge_5$ and $Fe_2Ge_3$ decompose under milling. $Fe_6Ge_5$ produces mixture of $\hat{a}$-phase and FeGe(B20), $Fe_2Ge_3$ produces mixture of FeGe(B20) and $FeGe_2$ phases. These facts are in good agreement with the model that implies local melting as a mechanism of new phase for-mation during medchanical alloying. Stability of FeGe(B20) phase, which is also incongruently melting compound, is explained as a result of highest density of this phase in Fe-Ge system. Under mechanical milling (MM) in planetary ball mill, FeSn intermetallic decomposes with formation $Fe_5Sn_3$ and $FeSn_2$ phases, which have the biggest density among the phases of Fe-Sn system. If decomposition degree of FeSn is relatively small(<60%), milled powder shows superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature. For this case, magnetization curves can be fitted by superposition of two Langevin functions. particle sizes for ferromagnetic $Fe_5Sn_3$ phase determined from fitting parameters are in good agreement with crystalline sizes determined from XRD data and remiain approximately chageless during MM. The decomposition of FeSn is attributed to the effects of local temperature and local pressure produced by ball collisions.
Rewarding Peer Reviewers – Maintaining the Integrity of Science Communication

This article overviews currently available options for rewarding peer reviewers. Rewards andincentives may help maintain the quality and integrity of scholarly publications. Publishersaround the world implemented a variety of financial and nonfinancial mechanisms forincentivizing their best reviewers. None of these is proved effective on its own. A strategyof combined rewards and credits for the reviewers’ creative contributions seems a workablesolution. Opening access to reviews and assigning publication credits to the best reviews isone of the latest achievements of digitization. Reviews, posted on academic networkingplatforms, such as Publons, add to the transparency of the whole system of peer review. Reviewer credits, properly counted and displayed on individual digital profiles, helpdistinguish the best contributors, invite them to review and offer responsible editorialposts.
Giant Magnetoresistance and Field-induced Phase Transitions in Tb7Rh3 Single Crystal

High-field magnetization and magnetoresistance measurements have been performed to investigatethe field-induced magnetic phase transitions in Tb7Rh3 single crystals. Metamagnetic transitionswere observed along the a-, b- and c-axes of the hexagonal crystal lattice in the three magneticstates at temperatures below the N´eel temperature TN = 91 K; magnetic field H - temperatureT phase diagrams were constructed for b- and c- axes. At temperatures below TN, the magneticstructure transformations under application of a magnetic field along the b-axis are observed to beaccompanied by the giant magnetoresistance effect (|Δρ/ρ| up to 65%). Magnetization curves measuredat temperatures above TN show inflection points, which may be indicative of phase transitionswithin regions with an antiferromagnetic short-range order persisting in a paramagnetic matrix.

A method is proposed for creating an optimal parametrically robust structure system of a state observer based on the process of similarity converting of a plant model, in which the conversion matrix is formed by varying singular numbers of controllability and observability gramians. The method enables a state observer structure to be obtained with a definite ratio of controllability and observability that permits fulfillment of parametric robustness conditions, namely, absence of positive feedback in the controller’s composition.
Preserving the Integrity of Citations and References by All Stakeholders of Science Communication

Citations to scholarly items are building bricks for multidisciplinary science communication. Citation analyses are currently influencing individual career advancement and ranking of academic and research institutions worldwide. This article overviews the involvement of scientific authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, indexers, and learned associations in the citing and referencing to preserve the integrity of science communication. Authors are responsible for thorough bibliographic searches to select relevant references for their articles, comprehend main points, and cite them in an ethical way. Reviewers and editors may perform additional searches and recommend missing essential references. Publishers, in turn, are in a position to instruct their authors over the citations and references, provide tools for validation of references, and open access to bibliographies. Publicly available reference lists bear important information about the novelty and relatedness of the scholarly items with the published literature. Few editorial associations have dealt with the issue of citations and properly managed references. As a prime example, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) issued in December 2014 an updated set of recommendations on the need for citing primary literature and avoiding unethical references, which are applicable to the global scientific community. With the exponential growth of literature and related references, it is critically important to define functions of all stakeholders of science communication in curbing the issue of irrational and unethical citations and thereby improve the quality and indexability of scholarly journals.
The Pressure to Publish More and the Scope of Predatory Publishing Activities

This article overviews unethical publishing practices in connection with the pressure to publish more. Both open-access and subscription publishing models can be abused by ‘predatory’ authors, editors, and publishing outlets. Relevant examples of ‘prolific’ scholars are viewed through the prism of the violation of ethical authorship in established journals and indiscriminately boosting publication records elsewhere. The instances of ethical transgressions by brokering editorial agencies and agents, operating predominantly in non-Anglophone countries, are presented to raise awareness of predatory activities. The scheme of predatory publishing activities is presented, and several measures are proposed to tackle the issue of predatory publishing. The awareness campaigns by professional societies, consultations with information facilitators, implementation of the criteria of best target journals, and crediting of scholars with use of integrative citation metrics, such as the h-index, are believed to make a difference.
