Performance Evaluation by Validity Measures of HFC Algorithm

Hierarchical Fuzzy Clustering Algorithm (HFC) has wide range of applications in various classification areas. The HFC is put forward to overcome the limitations of Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) algorithm. HFC discovers the high concentrated data areas by the agglomerative hierarchical clustering method quickly, analyzes and merges the data areas, and then uses the evaluation function to find the optimum clustering scheme. HFC algorithm is faster than single linkage agglomerative clustering algorithm as it can merge more than two clusters in one iteration when the merging condition is satisfied. In this paper author measured the quality of the clusters obtained by HFC algorithm by calculating various validity measures such as partition coefficient, separation index and Xie and Beni"s index. Experimental results indicate that HFC algorithm gives accurate results comparatively better.

The present work aims at the synthesis of Zinc-doped CdSe (Zn:CdSe) nanoparticles with average size near the Bohr radius by wet chemical method. The synthesized nanoparticles have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectrometer is used for the determination of bandgap and crystallite size is estimated using Debye–Scherrer formula and Brus equation. The nonlinear optical property that is excitonic nonlinear absorption and the wavelength dependence of nonlinear absorption has also been measured near the excitonic transitions involving the lowest electron state (1S) and one of the hole states 1S3/2(h). We observe the saturable absorption (SA), which can be described by a third-order and a fifth-order nonlinear process for Zn:CdSe nanocrystals. The irradiance and wavelength dependence of the excitonic nonlinearity are explained by two-level model. The calculations have been performed with the help of Z-scan experimental setup using Handy Compact Q-switched pulsed Nd:YAG laser (HYL-101 Quanta System).

A well-designed computer network technology produces benefits on several fields within the organization, between the organizations(suborganizations) or among different organizations(suborganizations). Network technology streamlines business processes, decision process. Graphs are useful data structures capable of efficiently representing a variety of networks in the various fields. Metagraph is a like graph theoretic construct introduced recently by Basu and Blanning in which there is set to set mapping in place of node to node as in a conventional graph structure. Metagraph is thus a new type of data structure occupying its popularity among the computer scientists very fast. Every graph is special case of Metagraph. In this paper the authors introduce the notion of Meta-Networking as a new network technological representation, which is having all the capabilities of crisp network as well as few additional capabilities. It is expected that the notion of meta-networking will have huge applications in due course. This paper will play the role of introducing this new concept to the network technologists and scientists.
Genetic Trend for Growth in a Closed Indian Herd of Landrace × Desi Crossbreds

This study has objectives of to estimate the genetic and phenotypic trend for growth in a closed herd of Landrace $\times$ desi crossbreds. The possibility of early selection of boars was also investigated in order to reduce generation interval and thus, to enhance response per year in selection programmes. The data originated from Livestock Production Research (Pigs), Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar (UP), India - a unit of All India Coordinated research Project on Pigs (AICRP on Pigs). Data consisted of 891 crossbred piglets, progeny of 29 boars. The piglets were born in 132 parities of 72 sows between 8 years from 1987 to 1994. Records on weight at birth, at 2 weeks interval upto 8 weeks of age (Wl, W2, ${\cdots}\;{\cdots}$ W8) and at 16th week (W16) were used in this investigation. BLLTP estimates of the sires were computed. Breeding value of each sire was estimated as twice of sire and sire group solutions. Phenotypic trend was estimated as regression of weight performance on year. Genetic trend was computed by estimating regression of breeding value of sires on time. Average body weights ranged from 0.92 kg (W1) to 18.95 kg (W16) and showed a continuous increase over age. Heritabilities of the weight at 4th and 6th week were medium (0.29 and 0.14). Rest of the weights were highly heritable. The product moment and rank, both correlations were high between breeding value for W6 and W16 (0.68 and 0.70). This shows that sire selection for W6 can be successfully implemented in order to achieve sufficient genetic improvement in growth. Phenotypic trend was positive at all ages. The phenotypic regression coefficient ranged from 0.02 kg at birth to 0.40 kg at 16 weeks. Genetic trend was also positive. The regression coefficients of average breeding value of sires on time showed a range of 1.471 kg (0.021 to 1.492 kg) for different weights. These coefficients were significant and higher than their corresponding phenotypic regression coefficient.

The delivery of high-quality antenatal care is a perennial global concern for improving maternal and neonatal outcomes. Antenatal care is currently provided mainly on a one-to-one basis, but growing evidence has emerged to support the effectiveness of group antenatal care. Providing care in a small group gives expectant mothers the opportunity to have discussions with their peers about certain issues and concerns that are unique to them and to form a support system that will improve the quality and utilization of antenatal care services. The aim of this article is to promote group antenatal care as a means to increase utilization of healthcare.

Ever since the dawn of civilization, the ambient vegetation and the resources constituted major source of human existence for various substantial requirements. Our present knowledge on plant resources emerged from the traditional heritable knowledge descended from generation to generation. However, traditional knowledge pertaining to several aspects remained untapped from various remote localities or populations. Furthermore, with the present trends of excessive exploitation of natural resources and degradation of habitats, conservation and ecological management require coherence of traditional skills and modern approaches. Therefore, the present study is to record traditional plant based knowledge among the inhabitants of Siwalik region of Uttarakhand Himalaya. Extensive field survey was made for the collection of data on the medicinal aspects of plant species in the study area covering the parts of districts Pauri, Dehradun and Haridwar. During the course of study 130 plant species belonging to 65 families are reported, used as traditional medicine by the local inhabitants of this region.

This paper deals with an investigation and evaluation of the performance of a state observer based Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive controlled by PI (Proportional Integral), PID (Proportional Integral and Derivative), SMC (sliding mode control), ANN (Artificial neural network) and FLC (Fuzzy logic) speed controllers. A detailed study of the steady state and dynamic performance of estimated speed and angle is given to demonstrate the capability of the controllers.
