Colon cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-associated death worldwide. The prognosis for advanced colorectal cancers remains dismal, mainly due to the propensity for metastatic progression. Accordingly, there is a need for effective anti-metastasis therapeutic agents. Since a great body of research has indicated anticancer effects for curcumin, we investigated the effects of dendrosomal curcumin (DNC) on cellular migration and adhesion of human SW480 cells and possible molecular mechanisms involved. Different methods were applied in this study including MTT, Scratch and adhesion assays as well as real-time PCR and transwell chamber assays. Based on the results obtained, DNC inhibits metastasis by decreasing Hef 1, Zeb 1 and Claudin 1 mRNA levels and can reduce SW480 cell proliferation with $IC_{50}$values of 15.9, 11.6 and $7.64{\mu}M$ at 24, 48 and 72h post-treatment. Thus it might be considered as a safe formulation for therapeutic purpose in colorectal cancer cases.
Common conditions associated with mandibular canal widening: A literature review

Purpose: The aim of this study was to review the common conditions associated with mandibular canal widening. Materials and Methods: General search engines and specialized databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Direct, and Scopus were used to find relevant studies by using the following keywords: "mandibular canal," "alveolar canal," "inferior alveolar nerve canal," "inferior dental canal," "inferior mandibular canal," "widening," "enlargement," "distension," "expansion," and "dilation." Results: In total, 130 articles were found, of which 80 were broadly relevant to the topic. We ultimately included 38 articles that were closely related to the topic of interest. When the data were compiled, the following 7 lesions were found to have a relationship with mandibular canal widening: non-Hodgkin lymphoma, osteosarcoma, schwannoma, neurofibroma, vascular malformation/hemangioma, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes, and perineural spreading or invasion. Conclusion: When clinicians encounter a lesion associated with mandibular canal widening, they should immediately consider these entities in the differential diagnosis. Doing so will help dentists make more accurate diagnoses and develop better treatment plans based on patients' radiographs.

Objective: In vitro maturation (IVM) of immature oocytes can be useful for some infertile patients. In IVM programs, the rates of embryo formation and pregnancy are low. Therefore, it is essential to recognize the main factors involved in regulating oocyte maturation in vitro. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and cumulus cell (CC) supplementation in IVM medium on the rates of embryo formation and viability of human blastocysts. Methods: A total of 80 germinal vesicle oocytes from stimulated cycles underwent an IVM program. The oocytes were divided into four groups, where group I consisted of IVM media only and served as the control, group II consisted of IVM+CCs, group III consisted of IVM+GDF9 (200 ng/mL), and group IV consisted of IVM+CCs+GDF9 (200 ng/mL). Intracytoplasmic sperm injection was performed on the IVM oocytes, and the cleavage embryos that were generated were vitrified. Following thawing, the embryos were cultured for 3 additional days, and the viability rates of the developed blastocysts were determined. Results: The maturation rate of the oocytes did not differ significantly across the four groups. The fertilization rate in group II was significantly higher than that in the control group (76.5% vs. 46.2%). Embryo formation was significantly more frequent in all experimental groups than in the control group, while blastocyst formation did not show significant differences in the three experimental groups compared to the control. The mean viability rates in groups II, III, and IV were 58.16%, 55.91%, and 55.95%, respectively, versus 37.78% in the control group (p< 0.05). Conclusion: Supplementation of IVM culture media with GDF9 and CCs enhanced the fertilization, embryo formation, and viability rates of blastocysts generated from vitrified cleavage embryos.

Omics and CRISPR in CHO bioproduction: a state-of-the-art review

Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells have been routinely used as a factory for recombinant proteins for several years, and their improvements have been the focus of consideration. Over the past two decades, omics have been developed that have great momentum for the future, equipped with nucleic acid sequencing, mass spectrometry, peptide sequencing, and statistical and computational capabilities. Functional omics, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and glycomics, have been recruited to promote CHO cell productivity. Recent breakthrough advances in CRISPR systems of this century are revolutionizing cell research and development. In recent years, various researchers have used the CRISPR system for gene knockout/in, gene activation or repression, epigenetic modulation, etc., in CHO cells as a genome-editing tool kit. Omics and CRISPR technology is poised to identify genes involved in increasing recombinant protein production and molecular insights. The development of novel technologies to modify CHO genome such as CRISPR/Cas9 and the establishment of a suffi ciently broad range of molecular and biological data will help to develop new approaches to improve commercially valuable traits in CHO cells. The CRISPR/Cas9 technology enables fast, precise, and simple modifi cation of the mammalian genome. This technology has numerous applications, including genome-wide screening and the control or alteration of specifi c genes. Researchers in the CHO community can now easily modify the genome to study the mechanisms involved in high-level protein synthesis and desired product quality attributes. This review provides an overview of omics and the CRISPR system as a toolbox for the optimization of recombinant protein yield in CHO cells.
