Energy-efficient Load Balancing Scheme for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

Energy is a lucrative resource that provides the foundation upon which the Quality of Service (QoS) for Industrial Internet of things (IIoT) is built. Nevertheless, nodes deployed in IIoT suffer from limited energy storage due their miniaturized nature. Imbalance load distribution contributes to the mismanagement of the energy resource which affects the QoS of the system. Clustering is an efficient method that provides energy optimization by maintaining load equilibrium across the network. This paper proposes a an energy-efficient load balance scheme that uses the residual energy of nodes and their average distance to divide the network into uniform energy efficient clusters. The simulation results show significant enhancement of the energy consumption of the system.
