Behavior of Residual Charges in Water-tree Degraded XLPE Sheets and Cable
Ebinuma, Yasumitsu,Masui, Noriaki The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic 2006 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.7 No.5
Many studies have been done on the application of residual charge measurement in cable degradation diagnosis. In this paper, the behavior of residual charges measured with water-tree degraded XLPE sheets and cable are discussed. At charge injection process, the charge is injected by applying dc voltage as a conventional method, suddenly cut-off ac voltage or impulse voltage. Therefore the residual charge is influenced by the applying process. At charge release process, transient dc current flows when applying ac high voltage and also ac high voltage superimposed to dc low voltage. From the results, new diagnosis method is suggested.

This work aims at investigating the production of yellow, orange, and red natural colorants in a submerged culture of Penicillium purpurogenum DPUA 1275. For this purpose, different experimental conditions evaluating the effect of incubation time, type and size of in℃ulum, and different carbon and nitrogen sources were performed. Furthermore, the growth kinetics were obtained in the conditions of 108 spores/ml and 5 mycelia agar discs during 360 h. These experiments showed that 5 mycelia agar discs and 336 h promoted the highest yellow (3.08 UA400nm), orange (1.44 UA470nm), and red (2.27 UA490nm) colorants production. Moreover, sucrose and yeast extract were the most suitable carbon and nitrogen sources for natural colorants production. Thus, the present study shows a new source of natural colorants, which can be used as an alternative to others available in the market after toxicological studies.

Airborne GPS Reflectometry from Low Altitude Aircraft
Takuji Ebinuma,Yasuda Akio,Dinesh Manandhar 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
This work is intended to develop a software-defined Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver specifically designed to process reflected GPS signal off the ground or the ocean surface for purpose of remote sensing. A set of airborne campaign was conducted to evaluate the performance of the prototype GPS reflectometry receiver. The reflected signal was tracked in open-loop manner using the so called delay mapping receiver. The result shows that theprototype receiver was capable of providing altimetric measurements with a precision level of the order of few meterswith an unknown system bias which should be estimated.
Trajectory-Based Design of Robust Stabilizing Controllers for Polytopic Uncertain Systems
Hiroki WADA,Hidetoshi OYA,Kojiro HAGINO,Yasumitsu EBINUMA 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
This paper deals with a design problem of robust controllers for polytopic uncertain systems. The proposed design method is based on computation of the trajectory for the uncertain system and differs from the existing methods based on quadratic stabilization via Lyapunov criterion. In this paper, we show that sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability of the polytopic uncertain system and a LMI-based design algorithm of a robust stabilizing controller. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design scheme is shown through illustrative examples.

Background/Aims: The recovery room used after endoscopy has limited capacity, and an efficient flow of the endoscopy unitis desired. We investigated the duration of hospital stay after endoscopy and the risk factors for prolonged hospital stay amongoutpatients. Methods: We retrospectively studied consecutive patients who underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy or colonoscopy at theToyoshima Endoscopy Clinic. We collected data on age, sex, body weight, midazolam and pethidine dosage, respiratory depressionduring endoscopy, and duration of hospital stay after endoscopy (scope out to check out). Risk factors for prolonged hospital stay (>100minutes) were identified using multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: We enrolled 3,898 patients, including 3,517 (90.2%) patients tested under sedation and 381 (9.8%) patients tested withoutsedation. Overall, 442 (11.3%) patients had prolonged stay (>100 min). The mean time difference between sedation group and nonsedationgroup was 44.2 minutes for esophagogastroduodenoscopy and 39.1 minutes for colonoscopy. Age (odds ratio [OR], 1.025;95% confidence interval [CI], 1.014−1.036), female sex (OR, 1.657; 95% CI, 1.220−2.249), and midazolam dose (OR, 1.019; 95% CI,1.013−1.026) were independently associated with prolonged hospital stay after esophagogastroduodenoscopy, with similar results forcolonoscopy. Conclusions: Old age, female sex, and midazolam dose were independent risk factors for prolonged hospital stay after endoscopy.

Synthetic-based colorants have been extensively used in several industries, viz., cosmeceutical, feed, pharmaceuticals, food and textile. However, the growing awareness of potential teratogenicity, carcinogenicityand environmental concerns of certain synthetic colorants have expressed several limitationsregarding their use in some products. These limitations, justifies the motivation to look for ecofriendlyalternatives (cf., natural colorants) to be used as coloring agents for industrial applications. The filamentous fungi Talaromyces amestolkiae appeared as a promising source of natural fluorescentred colorant (NFRC) for the development of custom-made latex gloves. In this study, some basic colorantproperties, including 3D-fluorescence and CIELAB color characteristics were first investigated systematicallybefore their incorporation in natural rubber latex (NRL) films. The NFRC-NRL films properties wereevaluated by physicochemical tests and toxicity through cell viability using 3T3 fibroblasts, wherein eluateof NFRC-NRL films (2.28 AU) revealed viability >70 % (exposing the biocompatibility). Regardless ofthe strategy proposed, it is shown as a proof-of-concept the potential application of NFRC in the NRLmatrix as a biocompatible alternative to produce sustainable commercial colored custom-made latexgloves.
