Roles of AgSbTe<sub>2</sub> nanostructures in PbTe: controlling thermal properties of chalcogenides

<P>In this study, we report on the formation behavior of homogeneous nanostructures and the thermal properties of quaternary system AgPbmSbTem+2 (silver- and antimony-doped PbTe, <I>m</I> = 18) that were synthesized <I>via</I> nanostructure crystallization engineering by controlling thermal processes. It is well known that with the addition of excess amounts of Ag and Sb into a PbTe system, nano-grained structures can be dispersed in the matrix of grains or segregated as clusters at the grain boundary of PbTe. Here, we observed the nanostructures with grain size ranging from 1 nm to 15 nm, which were synthesized under consecutive thermal procedures. They were examined by elaborated transmission electron microscopy. For thermal conductivity, the reduction rate was 20-30%, which mainly originated from decrease of the lattice thermal conductivity due to crystal phonon scattering (lattice vibrations) from formation of AgSbTe2 nanostructures in the PbTe grains. The lattice thermal conductivities of the entire system, with controlled AgSbTe2 nanostructures in PbTe matrix, are substantially lower than in other cases. Finally, the best thermal conductivity reduction rate is shown in AgPb18SbTe20 compound heat-treated at 923 K. As a result, these nano-grained PbTe materials could be expected to increase <I>ZT</I> from thermal conductivity reduction.</P>
Thermoelectric Properties of the Hot - Pressed Bi2(Te0.85Se0.15)3 Alloy with Addition of BN Powders

Thermoelectric properties of the hot-pressed Bi₂(Te_(0.85)Se_(0.15)₃ alloy were investigated with the addition of BN powders as phonon scattering centers. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity of the alloy increased as the volume fraction of BN increased. Although the thermal conductivity of the alloy decreased as the volume fraction of BN increased due to the reduction of κ_(el), the lattice thermal conductivity varied little. The figure-of-merit of the alloys, 1.6×10^(-3)/K without the addition of BN, decreased as the volume fraction of BN increased because the increment of the electrical resistivity was much larger than the decrement of the thermal conductivity due to grain refinement.
A Study on Half Bridge LLC Resonant Converter for Battery Charger on Board

In recent years, having the advantages of being small, low in cost and high in efficiency, Half bridge (HB) LLC resonant converter for power density and high efficiency is increasingly required in the battery charge application. The HB LLC resonant converters have been used for reducing the current and voltage stress and switching losses of the components. However, it is not suited for wide range of the voltage and output voltage due to the uneven voltage and current component's stresses. The HB LLC resonant for battery charge of on board is presented in this paper. The theoretical results are verified through an experimental prototype for battery charger on board.
봉정사(鳳停寺) 대웅전(大雄殿) 영산회후불벽화(靈山會後佛壁畵) 도상의 연원과 의의

봉정사 대웅전에는 아미타삼존불상과 아미타후불탱화가 봉안되어 있다. 1997년 1월 16일 후불탱화를 보수하기 위해 벽에서 떼어내자 건립당시 후불벽에 그려진 벽화의 전모가 드러나 세간의 관심을 모았다. 이 벽화는 손상이 심하지만 조선초기 대웅전 중창시 후불벽화로 그려져 예배되던 불화인데 그 도상의 연원은 조선전기 15세기에 간행된 법화경변상도에서 찾아볼수 있고, 불ㆍ보살상 등 존상의 형태, 복식, 광배와 보개의 모습 및 채색 등 세부표현 양식이 조선초기 지온지(知恩寺) 관경변상도(1435)와 같은 조선 전기 불화와 매우 유사함을 확인하였다. 그러므로 이 봉정사 영산회후불벽화는 중창기의 기록대로 1435년경에 제작되었음을 알수 있고 그 도상은 조선후기 영산회상도의 조형(祖型)이 된다는 점에서 막중한 의의가 있다. 또한 조선시대 전각 후불벽화로서는 가장 연대가 이르고, 작품이 귀한 조선 전기불화인 점에서도 가치가 크다고 하겠다. This paper analyzes the origin and style of the Yeongsanhoesangdo mural painting behind the Buddha in Daewoongjeon, Bongjeongsa Temple, and examines the significance of this mural through these analyses. The mural was painted in the early Joseon Dynasty when the Daewoongjeon was established, although it was severely damaged. The iconographic origin of this mural painting can be found in the illustrations of Lotus Sutras, published in the 15th century of the Joseon Dynasty. It was confirmed that detailed expression patterns such as the shape of icons, such as clothes and accessories, haloes, canopy, were very similar to those of the Buddhist painting of Amitayur-dyana-sutra made in 1435, posessed in Gionji, Kyoto. Therefore, it can be seen that the mural painting was made around 1435 as the records founded in Daewoongjeon. The mural painting of Daewoongjeon in Bongjeongsa Temple was of great significance in that, it became a prototype of Yeongsanhoesangdo during the late Joseon Dynasty. It is also valuable in that the mural painting is the earliest of its kind and the work of the early Joseon Dynasty, because the number of Buddhist paintings is very rare at that time.
갑상선기능과 경관, 질분비물 및 수액내의 방사성옥소 배설률에 관한 연구

Radioactive iodine(I131) in doses of 30∼50 μc were orally given to 68 female thyroid patients consisted of 32 hyperthyroid, 28 euthyroid and 8 hypothyroid. The variations of I131 percents excreted per dose through the cervical mucus, vaginal secretion and saliva according to the thyroid function states and also to the ovarian cycles were detemined. Following were the results: 1) The I131 excreted though the cervical mucus, vaginal seretion and saliva varied according to the thyroid function states, namely, higher in the hypothroid, lower in the hyperthyroid, and mediate in the euthyroid. 2.) The I131 excreted through the cervical mucus also varied according to the ovarian cycles, namely, higher in the luteal than in the follicular phase in cases of the hypo-, and eu-thyroid. However, such a pattern was not observed in the hyperthyroid. 3) The I131 excreted through salive were about 4 times higher than that through the cervical mucus at 1∼3 hours intervals.

The power supply devices for battery charger of a green car are required for high efficiency and higher power density. Interleave PFC and LLC resonant converter come into the spotlight for battery charger of a green car, because the conventional PFC and the PSFB (Phase Shift Full Bridge) converter have difficulties for high efficiency and low switching noise. In this paper, the Development result for 3.3kW battery charger on green car is demonstrated and verified through an experimental result.
