Encoding range minima and range top-2 queries

We consider the problem of encoding range minimum queries (RMQs): given an array A[1..n] of distinct totally ordered values, to pre-process A and create a data structure that can answer the query RMQ(i, j), which returns the index containing the smallest element in A[i..j], without access to the array A at query time. We give a data structure whose space usage is 2n + o(n) bits, which is asymptotically optimal for worst-case data, and answers RMQs in O(1) worst-case time. This matches the previous result of Fischer and Heun, but is obtained in a more natural way. Furthermore, our result can encode the RMQs of a random array A in 1.919n + o(n) bits in expectation, which is not known to hold for Fischer and Heun's result. We then generalize our result to the encoding range top-2 query (RT2Q) problem, which is like the encoding RMQ problem except that the query RT2Q(i, j) returns the indices of both the smallest and second smallest elements of A[i..j]. We introduce a data structure using 3.272n + o(n) bits that answers RT2Qs in constant time, and also give lower bounds on the effective entropy of the RT2Q problem.

Thousands of people die each year from cancer due to occupational causes. To reduce cancer in workers, preventive strategies should be used in the high-risk workplace. The effective prevention of occupational cancer requires knowledge of carcinogen agents. Like other areas of healthcare industry, occupational health has been affected by information technology solutions to improve prevention, early detection, treatment and finally the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the healthcare system. Information technology solutions are thus an important issue in the healthcare field. Information about occupational cancer in information systems is important for policy makers, managers, physicians, patients and researchers; because examples that include high quality data about occupational cancer patients and occupational cancer causes are able to determine the worker groups which require special attention. As a result exposed workers who are vulnerable can undergo screening and be considered for preventive interventions.

Supercritical CO2 extraction of galegine from Galega officinalis L. was carried out under different operating conditions of temperature (35-55 oC), pressure (10-30MPa), dynamic extraction time (30-150min), CO2 flow rate (0.5-2.5 mL/min) and constant static extraction time of 20 min. Design of experiment was by response surface methodology (RSM) using Minitab software 17. The response surface analysis accuracy was verified by the coefficient of determination (R2=93.4%) along with modified coefficient of determination (mod-R2=87.7%). The optimum operating conditions were found by using RSM modeling to be 42.8 oC, 22.7MPa, 141.5min and 2.15 mL/min, in which the maximum galegine extraction yield of 3.3932mg/g was obtained. Artificial neural network (ANN) using Levenberg- Marquardt backpropagation training function with six neurons in the hidden layer was implemented for the modeling of galegine extraction such that the coefficient of determination (R2) was 96.6%.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the name of an RNA virus that has changed the equations of the world since December 2019. More than 3.8 million people have been death caused by coronavirus [1,2]. The rate of evolution in SARS-CoV-2 is slow in comparison with other RNA viruses, but during this time, due to the high rate of spread among the people, it has been able to find significant genetic diversity and it is the main reason of the emergence of its several variants. B.1.1.7 (Alpha), B.1.351 (Beta), and P.1 (Gamma) are the different variant types of SARS-CoV-2 that were discovered in in Southeastern England, South Africa, and Germany, respectively. B1.617.1, B.1.617.2, and B.1.617.3 are the primary subtypes of the B1.617 lineage. Each of these variants has mutations in the N-terminal domain (NTD) and receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which may help them evade the immune system. Temperature fluctuations are inevitable in sour oil and gas production. In this study, the H2S corrosion of 304L and 316L alloys was investigated at pH 3 and temperatures of 20-60 °C using DC and AC electrochemical techniques. Two-fold increases in the corrosion rates of both alloys were reported with increases in temperature to 60 °C. In the 304L alloy, the surface layer was observed to be 3% rougher and 34%thicker than that of the 316L alloy. The two alloys exhibited different corrosion behaviors in the temperature ranges of 20-40 °C and 40-60 °C. Although the 316L alloy revealed a greater corrosion resistance at the free potential condition, the passivation on the 304L alloy was significantly greater than that of the 316L alloy at 40 °C and 15 ppm H2S. The FeS2 and combined FeS2-MoS2 compounds contributed to the surface layer constituents in the 304L and 316L alloys, respectively. The increase in temperature kinetically provided more favorable conditions for FeS2 than MoS2 formation, i.e. it had a relatively constructive effect on the 304L alloy passivation.

In this work, In2S3 nanostructures have been successfully prepared via a simple wet chemistrymethod atroom temperature. By using mercaptoacetic acid (TGA) as a capping agent, solvent, and sulfide precursorwith different concentrations, In2S3 nanostructures were obtained. The effects of reaction time, reactiontemperature, and concentration of precursor on the morphology and the particle size was also studied. The as-prepared In2S3nanoparticles were characterized extensively by techniques like XRD, TEM, SEM,PL, and EDX. Photoluminescence study of the In2S3 nanoparticles displayed quantum confinementbehavior with band gap of 2.74 eV.

This paper addresses the free vibration of multi-directional functionally graded circular and annular plates using a semianalytical/numerical method, called state space-based differential quadrature method. Three-dimensional elasticity equations are derived for multi-directional functionally graded plates and a solution is given by the semi-analytical/numerical method. This method gives an analytical solution along the thickness direction, using a state space method and a numerical solution using differential quadrature method. Some numerical examples are presented to show the accuracy and convergence of the method. The most of simulations of the present study have been validated by the existing literature. The non-dimensional frequencies and corresponding displacements mode shapes are obtained. Then the influences of thickness ratio and graded indexes are demonstrated on the non-dimensional natural frequencies.

This paper addresses the problem of mixed H_ /H∞ fault detection observer design for discrete-time switched linear systems. The conventional mixed H_ /H∞ problem is a conservative approach due to the selection of equal Lyapunov matrices. The idea presented in this paper is based on a switched Lyapunov function and using conservatism reduction approaches which leads to some sufficient conditions for solvability of the problem in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) feasibility conditions. Numerical simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Online social network technologies have become important to health and apply in most health care areas. Particularly in cancer care, because it is a disease which involves many social aspects, online social networks can be very useful. Use of online social networks provides a suitable platform for cancer patients and families to present and share information about their medical conditions, address their educational needs, support decision making, and help to coping with their disease and improve their own outcomes. Like any other new technologies, online social networks, along with many benefits, have some negative effects such as violation of privacy and publication of incorrect information. However, if these effects are managed properly, they can empower patients to manage cancer through changing behavioral patterns and enhancing the quality of cancer patients lives This paper explains some application of online social networks in the cancer patient care process. It also covers advantages and disadvantages of related technologies.

<P>Given a matrix of size N, two dimensional range minimum queries (2D-RMQs) ask for the position of the minimum element in a rectangular range within the matrix. We study trade-offs between the query time and the additional space used by indexing data structures that support 2D-RMQ5. Using a novel technique-the discrepancy properties of Fibonacci lattices we give an indexing data structure for 2D-RMQs that uses O (N/c) bits additional space with O (c logc(log log c)(2)) query time, for any parameter c, 4 <= c <= N. Also, when the entries of the input matrix are from 10,11, we show that the query time can be improved to O (c logc) with the same space usage. (C) 2016 Published by Elsevier B.V.</P>
