Networks of tooth helix deviations of ground and super-finished gears – Phase edges and intensity vertices

Daisuke Iba,Hiroki Inoue,Hidekatsu Noda,김명수,Ichiro Moriwaki 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.12

The purpose of this study was to try to clarify relative relationships among deviations on each tooth of gears by using the graph theory. Our previous study proposed a method to derive correlation coefficients among the tooth helix deviations and applied it to a ground helical gear. In addition, the coefficients were used as edges, and a network image of the relative helix deviations was generated. In this paper, this method was applied to the analysis of super-finished helical gears, and the phase relationship among the helix deviations was derived. Furthermore, this paper proposed a method, which enables us to derive the magnitude of helix deviation as a norm of signal, which disappeared from the phase network. Then, the derived magnitude was added to the network as the intensity of the vertices. As a result of the application of the proposed method to an analysis of the ground and super-finished helical gears, it was found that the newly created network images were able to show the different characteristics between the gear-finishing processes.

Development of a contact-type probe for measurements of ultra-fine-pitch gears and application to pseudo roughness evaluation

        김명수,Daisuke Iba,Tomohiro Tatsumi,Junichi Hongu,Ichiro Moriwaki 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.12

Gears used in actuators for robot articulations are showing a trend toward having smaller modules. Thus, profile measurements of small module gears are strongly desired. Our aim was to develop a probe artifact that enables ultra-fine-pitch cylindrical gears to be measured, by minimizing the size of the probe head. The configurations of the contact-type probe and holder were designed under consideration of interference with an adjacent tooth during profile measurements of an objective tooth. After manufacturing the artifact, a 0.1-module spur gear was measured as a trial, and reasonable results were obtained. In addition, a calibration plate for roughness was measured using the developed probe artifact. The evaluated roughness showed a strong correlation with the “true roughness”. Therefore, the developed probe can be expected to enable “pseudo” roughness to be evaluated.

Free Fat Graft for Congenital Hand Differences

        Toshihiko Ogino,Daisuke Ishigaki,Hiroshi Satake,Kousuke Iba 대한정형외과학회 2012 Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery Vol.4 No.1

Background: Free fat graft has been used for the treatment of congenital hand differences. However, there have been a fewreports about the outcome of that treatment. In this study, the outcome of free fat grafts for congenital hand and foot differenceswas investigated. Methods: Fourteen bones with longitudinal epiphyseal bracket, 3 wrists with Madelung deformity, and 5 cases of osseous syndactylywere treated with free fat graft with osteotomy, physiolysis, or separation of osseous syndactyly. Of the fourteen boneswith longitudinal epiphyseal bracket, 9 were treated with open wedge osteotomy with free fat graft and 5 with physiolysis andfree fat graft. The Madelung deformity was treated with physiolysis with free fat graft. For osseous syndactyly, syndactyly releasewith free fat graft was performed fi ve times on four hands. Results: In the fourteen cases with longitudinal epiphyseal bracket, lateral deviation improved in all except two cases after surgery. The average lateral deviation angle changed from 32.5 degrees before surgery to 15.2 degrees after surgery. The average improvementof the lateral deviation angle was 12.2 degrees in the osteotomy group and 20.6 degrees in the physiolysis group. Themean ratio of improvement of the lateral deviation angle to the lateral deviation angle before surgery was 39.4% in the osteotomygroup and 51.2% in the physiolysis group. The Madelung deformity improved after surgery in two cases but there was no improvementin one case. For these conditions, the results were not good enough when surgery was done after age 13 or at age four forseverely hypoplastic brachymesophalangy. Of the 5 cases of osseous syndactyly, reunion of the separated bones occurred in onecase. The grafted free fat should be deep enough to cover the osteotomy site of the bones to prevent reunion of the separatedbones. Conclusions: Physiolysis and free fat graft performed during the growth period can correct the deviation due to longitudinalepiphyseal bracket and Madelung deformity. Free fat graft is also useful to prevent reunion of the bones after separation of osseoussyndcatyly, if the grafted fat is securely fi lled into the space between the separated bones.

Multi active tuned mass dampers for earthquake-induced vibration response control of high rise building

Thang Pham Huu,Nanako Miura,Daisuke Iba 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.4

This paper discusses the advantages of the multi active tuned mass dampers (MATMD) for vibration control of multi-degree-freedom structures and their distribution masses. The 11-story building having two ATMDs at different story and different ATMD mass under long and short period earthquakes is considered. A structural system with ATMDs using fuzzy logic control was simulated against the ground motion of the earthquakes. The time history of the story displacements and accelerations, and the frequency responses of both the uncontrolled and controlled structures are shown in this study to investigate the effectiveness of multiple ATMDs compared with single ATMD and distributed multiple tuned mass dampers (d-MTMDs). The gained results also present the effect of mass distribution of two ATMDs and their location on the building response that the distributed MATMD with same mass has better performance than the distributed MATMD with different mass and single ATMD in the most earthquake cases.

Effects of shaft angle on cutting tool parameters in internal gear skiving

        Koichiro Uriu,Tsukasa Osafune,Takanori Murakami,Morimasa Nakamura,Daisuke Iba,Masami Funamoto,Ichiro Moriwaki 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.12

Gear skiving has received considerable attention because of its high productivity, particularly in internal gear cutting, and skiving cutter design methods have been widely investigated. At the beginning of a cutter design process, a shaft angle, a center distance, and the number of teeth are examined as basic parameters for cutting gears. In current gear skiving, a shaft angle is generally set to be approximately 20°; however, the reason for selecting this value has not been clarified. In the present study, the validity of the value of shaft angle is discussed by calculating the cutting tool parameters, such as instantaneous rake angles, clearance angles, cut depths, and cutting speeds at continuously moving cutting points against various shaft angles. Therefore, the widely used value of shaft angle would result in moderate cutting tool parameters. In addition, the cutting force and cutter wear would be low when a cutter axis inclines opposite to the gear helix to be cut.
