We examine the influence of dual institutions on entry modes by examining how both home and host country institutions jointly affect MN Cs' entry mode decisions (WOS vs. JVs) when investing overseas. Based on a sample of 243 China' s MNCs and their 1615 overseas subsidiaries in 23 countries, the results of multi-level analysis suggest that different aspects of the host and home institutions affect th e entry mode decision of these firms in ways that are contrary to the conventional wisdom. Moreover, there exist interactions between institutional factors and investment type (manufacturing vs. sales & marketing). Interestingly, home and host country institutions affect entry mode decision in opposite directions. These findings highlight the need to consider the unique environments facing firms from transitional economies and the influence of dual institutional factors in studying the entry modes of MNCs from these countries.

By adopting regression and time series analysis, this article tries to quantify people’s enthusiasm towards beauty based on sales performance of cosmetics product in previous years in China. The basic assumption in this paper is that people’s attitude towards beauty is positively associated with their purchase behavior of cosmetics product.

We adopt a semi-grounded theory approach to investigate the impact of different review manipulation tactics. Shoppers take a negative view toward seller manipulations, but the degree of negativity varies across different tactics. Moreover, different manipulations tactics vary in the ease of detection, perceived unethicality, and the effect on consumer perceptions.
SOLVING SINGULAR NONLINEAR TWO-POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS IN THE REPRODUCING KERNEL SPACE

In this paper, we present a new method for solving a nonlinear two-point boundary value problem with finitely many singularities. Its exact solution is represented in the form of series in the reproducing kernel space. In the mean time, the n-term approximation $u_n(x)$ to the exact solution u(x) is obtained and is proved to converge to the exact solution. Some numerical examples are studied to demonstrate the accuracy of the present method. Results obtained by the method are compared with the exact solution of each example and are found to be in good agreement with each other.

In this paper, the tenth-order linear boundary value problems are solved using reproducing kernel method. The algorithm developed approximates the solutions, and their higher-order derivatives, of differential equations and it avoids the complexity provided by other numerical approaches. First a new reproducing kernel space is constructed to solve this class of tenth-order linear boundary value problems; then the approximate solutions of such problems are given in the form of series using the present method. Three examples compared with those considered by Siddiqi, Twizell and Akram [S.S. Siddiqi, E.H. Twizell, Spline solutions of linear tenth order boundary value problems, Int. J. Comput. Math. 68 (1998) 345-362; S.S.Siddiqi, G.Akram, Solutions of tenth-order boundary value problems using eleventh degree spline, Applied Mathematics and Computation 185 (1)(2007) 115-127] show that the method developed in this paper is more efficient.

The RTEL1 rs6010620 Polymorphism and Glioma Risk: a Meta-analysis Based on 12 Case-control Studies

Background: The association between the RTEL1 rs6010620 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and glioma risk has been extensively studied. However, the results remain inconclusive. To further examine this association, we performed a meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: A computerized search of the PubMed and Embase databases for publications regarding the RTEL1 rs6010620 polymorphism and glioma cancer risk was performed. Genotype data were analyzed in a meta-analysis. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated to assess the association. Sensitivity analyses, tests of heterogeneity, cumulative meta-analyses, and assessments of bias were performed in our meta-analysis. Results: Our meta-analysis confirmed that risk with allele A is lower than with allele G for glioma. The A allele of rs6010620 in RTEL1 decreased the risk of developing glioma in the 12 case-control studies for all genetic models: the allele model (OR=0.752, 95%CI: 0.715-0.792), the dominant model (OR=0.729, 95%CI: 0.685-0.776), the recessive model (OR=0.647, 95%CI: 0.569-0.734), the homozygote comparison (OR=0.528, 95%CI: 0.456-0.612), and the heterozygote comparison (OR=0.761, 95%CI: 0.713-0.812). Conclusions: In all genetic models, the association between the RTEL1 rs6010620 polymorphism and glioma risk was significant. This meta-analysis suggests that the RTEL1 rs6010620 polymorphism may be a risk factor for glioma. Further functional studies evaluating this polymorphism and glioma risk are warranted.
