      • Implementation and Calculation of General Electricity Prices on Industry with Fee Charging Terminal

        The calculation of general electricity prices on industry has great significance in cost control, energy conservation and emission reduction, as well as high efficiency management of electricity for the key electric power customers. Traditional solution has specific defections in time-consuming, convenience, and readout, however, the fee charging terminal has provided a more reasonable solution in interaction interface and abundant parameters settings with high efficiency.

        Research on facility layout optimization algorithm of deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform

        We aimed to create a facility layout design of semi-submersible drilling platform (DSDP) with performance constraints. The Boltzmann survival mechanism of simulated annealing algorithm was introduced into the replacement strategy of genetic algorithm to form an improved genetic algorithm called genetic and simulated annealing algorithm (GASA). The new algorithm alleviates the “combination explosion” and premature convergence of the traditional genetic algorithm. The layout problem of DSDP is efficiently solved by using this new algorithm. When the number of layout objects increases, GASA’s performance is better than that of the genetic algorithm.

        Dynamic fracture instability in brittle materials: Insights from DEM simulations

        In this article, the dynamic fracture instability characteristics, including dynamic crack propagation and crack branching, in PMMA brittle solids under dynamic loading are investigated using the discrete element method (DEM) simulations. The microscopic parameters in DEM are first calibrated using the comparison with the previous experimental results not only in the field of qualitative analysis, but also in the field of quantitative analysis. The calibrating process illustrates that the selected microscopic parameters in DEM are suitable to effectively and accurately simulate dynamic fracture process in PMMA brittle solids subjected to dynamic loads. The typical dynamic fracture behaviors of solids under dynamic loading are then reproduced by DEM. Compared with the previous experimental and numerical results, the present numerical results are in good agreement with the existing ones not only in the field of qualitative analysis, but also in the field of quantitative analysis. Furthermore, effects of dynamic loading magnitude, offset distance of the initial crack and initial crack length on dynamic fracture behaviors are numerically discussed.

        Periparturient stocking density affects lying and ruminating behavior and one-week-calf performance of Holstein cows

        Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of stocking density on the behavior, productivity, and metabolism of periparturient Holstein cows as well as calf performance. Methods: A total of 48 periparturient cows were randomly assigned into three groups at 28 days (±3 days) before their expected calving date. The stocking densities of the groups, relative to the standard cubicle and feed bunk number, were i) 80% (13 cows), ii) 100% (16 cows), and iii) 120% (19 cows). Lying and rumination behavior was recorded using electronic data loggers and HR-Tags from d -21 (“d-” means days before calving) until the calving date, d 0. Lying time was assessed to determine the diurnal total hours spent lying per day. Rumination time was averaged in 2 hours interval periods over 24 hours during the experimental period. Results: Cows in the 80% group spent more time lying and ruminating between d -21 and d -7 and tended to ruminate more between d -14 and d 0. Calcium levels tended to be higher for cows in the 80% group, no other observable differences were found in monitored blood parameters. Moreover, 3.5% fat corrected milk and energy corrected milk yields were higher in 80% group in the first month of lactation. No other observable differences were found in the yield and composition of colostrum and milk in the first 10 months of lactation. The growth and performance of calves in the first week of life was not affected by stocking density of the dams. Conclusion: We concluded that lower stocking density may increase lying and ruminating behavior of prepartum Holstein cows. However, this did not translate into improved productivity and metabolism.
