        The Hausdorff topology induced by a fuzzy metric space un- der more weak assumptions is investigated in this paper. Another purpose of this paper is to obtain the Banach contraction theorem in fuzzy met- ric space based on a natural concept of Cauchy sequence in fuzzy metric space.

        Synthesis and characterization of nickel–manganese oxide via the hydrothermal route for electrochemical capacitors

        Nano-sized and well dispersed manganese oxide and nickelemanganese oxide (NieMneO) powders are synthesized via the hydrothermal route. The addition of nickel ions significantly affects the morphology,particle size and the electrochemical properties of the obtained powders. Adding nickel ions results in a significant change in the shape of the powders from rod-like to plate-like. The electrochemical analysis of the electrode reveals that the specific capacitance of the synthesized powders is greatly increased with the addition of nickel ions. When the hydrothermal temperature is increased to 125 ℃, the specific capacitance also increases to 284 F/g and decreases by about 4% after 1500 cycles of charge and recharge. NieMneO is considered to be a promising material for the electrodes used in electrochemical capacitors.         Effects of reducing agents on the electrochemical properties of the prepared manganese oxide powders

        Manganese oxide powders with high specific capacitance were successfully fabricated via a simple redox reaction at room temperature. The reducing agents used for the redox reaction significantly affected the oxidation states and the electrochemical properties of the prepared manganese oxide powders. As C2H5OH was used as the reducing agent, high Mn3+ content and high amount of hydroxide were observed in the prepared manganese oxide powders. In addition, the molar ratios of KMnO4 and C2H5OH also influenced the electrochemical properties of the prepared manganese oxide powders. When the molar ratio of KMnO4 and C2H5OH was 1:40, the specific capacitance of the prepared manganese oxide was as high as 402 F/g. These results of the electrochemical analysis showed that, adjusting the molar ratios of KMnO4 and C2H5OH demonstrated to be an effective method for controlling the electrochemical characteristics of manganese oxide powders.

      • A Mandarin Voice Organizer Based on a Template-Matching Speech Recognizer

        On the observation of current available voice organizers, all of them accept only voice commands or word-based commands. Using natural spoken language to operate organizer is still a difficult problem. In this paper, a template-based speech recognizer which accepts near(constrained) spoken language is proposed. Since the template-based recognizer is a domain-dependent speech recognition system, representing and matching of sentence templates become the main tasks of the recognizer. We use finate state networks(FSNs) to represent the sentence templates and propose a vowel-based, syllable-scoring method to match a correct template. By replacing the template sets, this method can be easily applied to other domains. Besides, two main functions, voice recording and voice message query, are implemented on our organizer using a fast CELP encoder/decoder to compress/decompress the voice data in realtime. Experimental results shows that the collected 31 sentence templates can greatly improve the voice interface between the user and the voice organizer.
