        Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, and D[[X]] be the power series ring over D. For f@?D[[X]], let c<SUB>D</SUB>(f) denote the ideal of D generated by the coefficients of f. Let N={f@?D[[X]]|c<SUB>D</SUB>(f)=D}, N<SUB>t</SUB>={f@?D[[X]]|c<SUB>D</SUB>(f)<SUB>t</SUB>=D}, D((X))=D[[X]]<SUB>N</SUB>, and D{{X}}=D[[X]]<SUB>N't</SUB>. We show that D is a Krull domain if and only if D{{X}} is a Prufer domain, if and only if D[[X]]<SUB>P[[X]]</SUB> is a valuation domain for each maximal t-ideal P of D, if and only if D[[X]] is a PvMD in which each t-ideal is divisorial. We also show that D is a Dedekind domain if and only if D((X)) is a Prufer domain, if and only if D[[X]]<SUB>M[[X]]</SUB> is a valuation domain for each maximal ideal M of D.

      • Integral domains with finitely many spectral semistar operations

        <P>Let D be a finite-dimensional integral domain, Spec(D) be the set of prime ideals of D, and SpSS(D) be the set of spectral semistar operations on D. Mimouni gave a complete description for the prime ideal structure of D with SpSS(D) = n + dim(D) for 1 aecurrency sign n aecurrency sign 5 except for the quasi-local cases of n = 4, 5. In this paper, we show that there is an integral domain D such that SpSS(D) = n+dim(D) for all positive integers n with n not equal 2. As corollaries, we completely characterize the quasi-local domains D with SpSS(D) = n+dim(D) for n = 4, 5. Furthermore, we also present the lower and upper bounds of SpSS(D) when Spec(D) is a finite tree.</P>

      • 석회유황합제 처리에 따른 철원 양파의 생육특성 및 페놀화합물 분석

        본 연구는 양파에 친환경제제로 사용되는 석회유황합제를 농도별(100, 200, 300배)로 희석하여 양파에 처리하여 생육특성과 페놀화합물 함량의 변이를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 그 결과 석회유황합제 처리 후 양파의 구 중, 구 너비, 구 고와당 함량에 영향을 미치지는 못했다. 또한 페놀화합물 함량에서 p-coumaric acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, rutin, kaempferol은 무 처리구와 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 하지만 benzoic acid는 석회유황합제 100배를 처리하였을 때 유의하였고, quercetin 함량은 처리구인 석회유황합제 200배(106.7 ㎍/g D.W.)와 300배(106.1 ㎍/g D.W.)가 100배(89.4 ㎍/g D.W.)와 무 처리구(96.4 ㎍/g D.W.) 보다 다소 높은 함량을 보여 유의하였다. 따라서 석회유황합제는 bezoic acid와 quercetin 함량 변화에 영향을 미쳤다고 판단된다. 본 연구결과가 농가 현장에 적용되기 위해서는 좀 더 넓은면적에서 실증 시험을 더 해야할 것으로 판단된다. The aim of this study was to evaluate the change of phenolic compounds after lime-sulphur mixture treatment on Cheorwon onion. Onion is a perennial plant belonging to the lily family. It is native to Persia of Southwest Asia. It is cultivated much in the temperate regions of the world. Onion is a good name for the 'Okchong' to drop blood cholesterol and cardiovascular blood flow to increase the prevention of adult diseases. Cheorwon area is inland, but it has high continental climate due to its high altitude. After the treatment with lime-sulphur mixture, the weight, width and plant height of the onion were not affected. In the phenolic compounds, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, rutin, p-coumaric acid and kaempferol except benzoic acid and quercetin were similar to or less than the control. Therefore, it was concluded that the treatment with lime-sulphur mixture had some effect on phenolic compound contents, benzoic acid and qurercetin.

        Protein Profile in Corpus Luteum during Pregnancy in Korean Native Cows

        Steroidogenesis requires coordination of the anabolic and catabolic pathways of lipid metabolism, but the profile of proteins associated with progesterone synthesis in cyclic and pregnant corpus luteum (CL) is not well-known in cattle. In Experiment 1, plasma progesterone level was monitored in cyclic cows (n = 5) and pregnant cows (n = 6; until d-90). A significant decline in the plasma progesterone level occurred at d-19 of cyclic cows. Progesterone level in abbatoir-derived luteal tissues was also determined at d 1 to 5, 6 to 13 and 14 to 20 of cyclic cows, and d-60 and -90 of pregnant cows (n = 5 each). Progesterone level in d-60 CL was not different from those in d 6 to 13 CL and d-90 CL, although the difference between d 6 to 13 and d-90 was significant. In Experiment 2, protein expression pattern in CL at d-90 (n = 4) was compared with that in CL of cyclic cows at d 6 to 13 (n = 5). Significant changes in the level of protein expression were detected in 32 protein spots by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE), and 23 of them were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). Six proteins were found only in pregnant CL, while the other 17 proteins were found only in cyclic CL. Among the above 6 proteins, vimentin which is involved in the regulation of post-implantation development was included. Thus, the protein expression pattern in CL was disorientated from cyclic luteal phase to mid pregnancy, and alterations in specific CL protein expression may contribute to the maintenance of pregnancy in Korean native cows.

In this paper, we prove that {Q<SUB>α</SUB>}<SUB>α@?Λ</SUB>={0=Q<SUB>0</SUB>@?Q<SUB>1</SUB>@?...@?Q<SUB>n</SUB>} and V<SUB>Q'n</SUB> is discrete, i.e., Q<SUB>i</SUB>V<SUB>Q'i</SUB> is principal for all i=1,...,n. Let D be an integral domain such that D<SUB>P</SUB> is Noetherian for each prime ideal P of D with htP<~. As a corollary, we show that if {P<SUB>k</SUB>} is a chain of prime ideals of D such that htP<SUB>k</SUB><~ for each k, then there exists a discrete valuation overring of D which has a chain of prime ideals lying over {P<SUB>k</SUB>}.

        Peroxiredoxin II promotes hepatic tumorigenesis through cooperation with Ras/Forkhead box M1 signaling pathway

        <P>The current study was carried out to define the involvement of Peroxiredoxin (Prx) II in progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the underlying molecular mechanism(s). Expression and function of Prx II in HCC was determined using H-ras(G12V)-transformed HCC cells (H-ras(G12V)-HCC cells) and the tumor livers from H-ras(G12V)-transgenic (Tg) mice and HCC patients. Prx II was upregulated in H-ras(G12V)-HCC cells and H-ras(G12V)-Tg mouse tumor livers, the expression pattern of which highly similar to that of forkhead Box M1 (FoxM1). Moreover, either knockdown of FoxM1 or site-directed mutagenesis of FoxM1-binding site of Prx II promoter significantly reduced Prx II levels in H-ras(G12V)-HCC cells, indicating FoxM1 as a direct transcription factor of Prx II in HCC. Interestingly, the null mutation of Prx II markedly decreased the number and size of tumors in H-ras(G12V)-Tg livers. Consistent with this, knockdown of Prx II in H-ras(G12V)-HCC cells reduced the expression of cyclin D1, cell proliferation, anchorage-independent growth and tumor formation in athymic nude mice, whereas overexpression of Prx II increased or aggravated the tumor phenotypes. Importantly, the expression of Prx II was correlated with that of FoxM1 in HCC patients. The activation of extracellular signal-related kinase (ERK) pathway and the expression of FoxM1 and cyclin D1 were highly dependent on Prx II in H-ras(G12V)-HCC cells and H-ras(G12V)-Tg livers. Prx II is FoxM1-dependently- expressed antioxidant in HCC and function as an enhancer of Ras(G12V) oncogenic potential in hepatic tumorigenesis through activation of ERK/FoxM1/cyclin D1 cascade.</P>

        Development of the new KSTAR helium distribution box

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>KSTAR project has required the new helium distribution box named upgraded distribution box (DBU) for the operation of the cryogenic components such as in-vessel cryo-pump (CPI), super-sonic molecular beam injector (SMBI), and deuterium pellet injection system (PIS). Two CPIs are inserted into the tokamak vacuum vessel and these components shall be operated at 90K for the liquid nitrogen thermal shields and 4.5K for the hydrogen cryo-panel. One hydrogen PIS was newly mounted on the tokamak for the 2016 KSTAR campaign. Liquid nitrogen shall be supplied to the one SMBI. For the operation of above mentioned 3 kinds of cryogenic components, a helium refrigerator, which had been used for the R&D in the KSTAR facility construction phase (2002–2013), was moved and inserted into the KSTAR 9kW helium facility room. The cooling capacity of the refrigerator at 4.5K is 1kW and it was manufactured from the Linde Kryotechnik before 2002. After some maintenances in warm compressor, electrical power supply, oil-filter, and so on, commissioning of the refrigerator up to 4.5K was accomplished successfully. From the beginning of 2015, design and fabrication of the DBU was started. It shall control the liquid nitrogen for the SMBI and CPI thermal shields whereas liquid helium for the CPI cryo-panel and PIS. To minimize the temperature of the liquid nitrogen to be supplied to SMBI and CPI, a thermal damper tank was inserted into the distribution box. Nitrogen return gases are to be warmed up to room temperature at the heater in the distribution box. A 1000l of liquid helium vessel is located nearby the PIS to supply cold gas helium (∼5K). Because the CPI cryo-panel requires regeneration up to 90K, complex regeneration and re-cool down scenario was developed and applied to the DBU. Including operational results, details of the DBU progresses will be reported in this paper.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> There has been progresses in the construction and 1st operation of DBU in 2016 KSTAR plasma experiments. </LI> <LI> Two in-vessel cryopumps (CPIs) cool-down to 4.5K and observed pumping speed was 3.0E4l/s. </LI> <LI> Manual CPI regeneration tests were accomplished regarding future automatic control. </LI> <LI> Production of the D<SUB>2</SUB> pellets were successful and there has been lots of injection tests. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Late Quaternary inner shelf deposits in response to late Pleistocene-Holocene sea level changes: Nakdong River, SE Korea

        The high-resolution seismic profiles from the inner shelf off the Nakdong River in SE Korea can be directly correlated with the lithologic characteristics in the borehole data. These correlations offer an opportunity to document the evolution of the inner shelf deposits with sediment supplies in response to the late Quaternary sea level changes. The inner shelf sequence in this area consists of four sedimentary units, which comprise a set of lowstand, transgressive, and highstand systems tracts deposited since the last glacial maximum: incised-channel fill (SU1), estuary (SU2), sand veneer (SU3), and subaqueous delta (SU4). The lowermost unit (SU1), which overlies the sequence boundary, is interpreted as fluvial deposits formed during the last glacial period and the early stage of transgression, and belongs to the lowstand to transgressive systems tract. The lower middle unit (SU2) lying below the ravinement surface represents a paralic component that consists of estuarine sandy mud or muddy sand developed between approximately 13 and 8 cal ka BP, whereas the upper middle unit (SU3) above the ravinement surface corresponds to a marine component that consists of sand veneer produced by the shelf erosion during the ensuing sea-level rise. These two units (SU2 and SU3) belong to the transgressive deposits. The uppermost unit (SU4), regarded as the highstand systems tract, formed the Nakdong subaqueous delta including the proximal and distal systems developed after the highstand sea level at approximately 6 cal ka BP. The lateral transition from the proximal to distal facies suggests a prograding delta system in the Nakdong River.

      • Impact of serial measurements of lysophosphatidylcholine on 28-day mortality prediction in patients admitted to the intensive care unit with severe sepsis or septic shock

        Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of serial lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) measurement on 28-day mortality prediction in patients with severe sepsis or septic shock admitted to the medical intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: This is a prospective observational study of 74 ICU patients in a tertiary hospital. Serum LPC, white blood cell, C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin (PCT) levels were measured at baseline (day 1 of enrollment) and day 7. The LPC concentrations were compared with inflammatory markers using their absolute levels and relative changes. Results: The LPC concentration on day 7 was significantly lower in nonsurvivors than in survivors (68.45 +/- 42.36 μmol/L and 99.76 +/- 73.65 μmol/L; P = .04). A decreased LPC concentration on day 7 to its baseline as well as a sustained high concentration of PCT on day 7 at more than 50% of its baseline value was useful for predicting the 28-day mortality. Prognostic utility was substantially improved when combined LPC and PCT criteria were applied to 28-day mortality outcome predictions. Furthermore, LPC concentrations increased over time in patients with appropriate antibiotics but not in those with inappropriate antibiotics. Conclusions: Serial measurements of LPC help in the prediction of 28-day mortality in ICU patients with severe sepsis or septic shock.
