        경천아일록(擎天兒日錄)과 연해주 항일독립운동가 김경천의 생애

        김병학(Kim, Byeong-hak) 부경대학교 인문사회과학연구소 2013 인문사회과학연구 Vol.14 No.1

Gyeong-cheon-a-il-rok(Gyeong-cheon Daily Journal) is a manuscript journal written by General Kim Gyeong-cheon. He is a legendary anti-Japan partisan commander who engaged in armed struggle against Japan in Maritime Province of Russia in the 1920s. Until 2005, the existence of this journal was not generally known. This journal can be compared historically to General Lee Sun-sin’s ‘Nan-jung-il-gi(A War Diary)’ in that both were written during battles by the commander leading his troops and to a contemporary work in Kim Gu’s ‘Baek-beom-il-ji (Baek-beom Journal)’ in that both are outstanding daily journals written by an activist of the anti-Japan movement while in exile in Russia. Kim Gyeong-cheon moved to Japan right after the Russo-Japanese War and graduated from the Japanese Military Academy. He served in the Japanese army as a first lieutenant in the cavalry. After the March First Independence Movement began in Korea, he went into exile to Manchuria and soon moved to Maritime Province of Russia and fought heroically in battles against the Russian White Army, bandits, and the Japanese army. At that time he was widely known as the ‘white-horse-riding General Kim’ in Maritime Province of Russia, in China, and even in Korea. However, 1935 saw the beginning of the suppression of Korean leaders by Stalin’s government in Maritime Province of Russia. In 1936 Kim Gyeong-cheon was arrested under suspicion of spying and died at the Northen Siberian Railway Camp in 1942. After that Kim Gyeong-cheon was long forgotten, almost. In Korea, a full-scale study of Kim Gyeon-cheon started after the Soviet Union was opened. However, the contents of the remaining Soviet sources are fragmentary and his activities as a partisan were only lightly mentioned. So it was not enough to properly show his life. Meanwhile, the long lost information was revealed by the discovery of Gyeong-cheon-a-il-rok. This essay explains the circumstances of the discovery of Gyeong-cheon-a-il-rok, the journal’s content, and characteristics; and presents Kim Gyeong-cheon’s previously unknown later life.

      • 휠체어 검도 경기를 위한 경기규정에 관한 연구

        김영학,공병덕,이병기 龍仁大學校 武道硏究所 2002 武道硏究所誌 Vol.13 No.1

The purpose of this study was to build revised game rules for wheelchair Kumdo for the physically challenged confined to wheelchair, after teaching 10 people how to play Wheelchair Kumdo. It's ultimately intended to determine whether or not the revised game regulations were appropriate and workable and ultimately to promote Wheelchair Kumdo. There Kumdo trainees of the 4th, 5th and 6th grades respectively and three physically different people were coached to draft game rules in three phases, and they were finalized through an advice of a specialist. And then five disabled Kumdo trainees, who included three of the 3rd grade and two of the 2nd grade, learned the regulations for a month to find out their adequacy. As a result of interviewing them and analysing the collected data, the following findings were given: First, the stadium should have a flat floor, by using proper materials such as wood or concrete, to guarantee the smooth operation of wheelchair. It should be in a square form and 11 meter or higher in length. The starting lines should bo marked 'T' on both sides from the central line, and the upper parts of the marks should face each other. There should be 1.7m distance between the central and starting lines and 2 meter or higher extra spaces in the external sides. Second, the bamboo sword should be redesigned to be 114cm in length and 370g in weight to fit in wheelchair Kumdo. Third, among Kumdo equipment, Homyun(護面, Headgear), part of HoKu(Protection-equipment, 護具), should be made of lighter materials, thicker in the head part, and easy to wear. Gab(甲, Chest-guard) should have a sort of shock absorber in it, and a remodeled Hoku that has no wings on both sides should be used. To prevent wheelchair from shock and ensure its safety, a Quickie All Court model should be selected, and each contestant should wear a suit of different color that has his or her name on the shoulder portion. Fourth, each game should run four minutes, constituted by two periods, and a break time should be given. The judgment should be made without no extra time, and a contestant who hits one of the due points ahead of the other should be a winner. Fifth, as for Yuhyo-Geokja(有效擊刺, Point), action against the head, wrist or waist should be considered Geokja(擊刺, Strike), and one against the chest part should be regarded as Jabu(刺部, Stab). Based on the above-mentioned findings, there are some suggestions about wheelchair Kumdo games: First, as games could be held out in the field, outdoor programs should be attempted. Second, every game is divided into the first and second periods, and coaches need to develop programs suitable for the two-part competition to give better guidance. Third, general Kumdo equipment isn't suitable for wheelchair Kumdo, and a lot of research efforts should urgently be dedicated to developing separate equipment for that.

      • A case of generalized pseudoxanthoma elasticum

( Byeong Hak Seo ),( Ji Hyun Kim ),( Yong Woo Oh ),( Dong Hee Kim ),( Ho Seok Suh ),( Yu Sung Choi ) 대한피부과학회 2019 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.71 No.1

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare, genetic, multisystem disorder characterized by progressive calcification and degeneration of elastic fibers, involving skin, eyes and cardiovascular system. It is caused by mutations in ATP-binding cassette subfamily C member 6 (ABCC6) on chromosome 16q13.1. It clinically presents as yellowish, flat-topped, discrete, and confluent papules on the lateral neck, axillae, and flexural areas. Ocular angioid streaks, visual impairment, peau d’orange retinal hyperpigmentation are other diagnostic clues for PXE. Histopathologically, PXE shows swollen, clumped, fragmented elastic fibers with calcium deposits in the mid and deep reticular dermis. There is no specific treatment for PXE, but multidisciplinary approach is required for the systemic complications. A 49-year old man presented with generalized, confluent brownish patches on the trunk and skin-colored to yellowish, flat-topped, discrete papules on his neck since childhood. He was diagnosed with choroidal neovascularization with angioid streaks at the ophthalmology department 6 months ago. His sister also had similar cutaneous lesions. Histopathologic findings from neck and abdomen showed irregularly clumped, fragmented, bright pink-colored elastic fibers with degeneration in the dermis. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for elastic fibers. The patient was diagnosed with generalized PXE. Herein, we report a case of generalized PXE.

      • Anti-saturation and Contrast Enhancement Technique using Interlaced Histogram Equalization (IHE) for Improving Target Detection Performance of EO/IR Images

Byeong Hak Kim,Min Young Kim 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

The electro-optic infra-red (EO/IR) camera systems of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are equipped with an infra-red sensor to detect targets even in low visibility environments. However, the infra-red sensor is easily affected by diverse noises, and it is essentially needed to process a contrast expansion using the histogram equalization because of low output level of the sensor. But the classical histogram equalization (HE) for IR image processing has side effects such as lack of contrast expansion and saturation phenomenon. In addition, the local area processing (LAP) for saturation reduction has been studied, but LAP shows low performance to reduce saturation and non-uniformities between divided areas. In this study, we propose the interlaced HE (IHE) method in order to solve the problems about the saturation and the non-uniformities. Compared with the conventional HE method, the proposed method maintains the same performance of image contrast expansion with the 6.72 entropy, and the saturation was dramatically reduced as its variance was reduced from 82[%] to 77[%].

Inactive extracellular superoxide dismutase disrupts secretion and function of active extracellular superoxide dismutase

( Byeong Wook Jeon ),( Byung Hak Kim ),( Yun Sang Lee ),( Sung Sub Kim ),( Jong Bok Yoon ),( Tae Yoon Kim ) 생화학분자생물학회(구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2011 BMB Reports Vol.44 No.1

Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) is an antioxidant enzyme that protects cells and tissues from extracellular damage by eliminating superoxide anion radicals produced during metabolism. Two different forms of EC-SOD exist, and their different enzyme activities are a result of different disulfide bond patterns. Although only two folding variants have been discovered so far, five folding variants are theoretically possible. Therefore, we constructed five different mutant EC-SOD expression vectors by substituting cysteine residues with serine residues and evaluated their expression levels and enzyme activities. The mutant EC-SODs were expressed at lower levels than that of wild-type EC-SOD, and all of the mutants exhibited inhibited extracellular secretion, except for C195S EC- SOD. Finally, we demonstrated that co-expression of wild-type EC-SOD and any one of the mutant EC-SODs resulted in reduced secretion of wild-type EC-SOD. We speculate that mutant EC-SOD causes malfunctions in systems such as antioxidant systems and sensitizes tissues to ROS-mediated diseases. [BMB reports 2011; 44(1): 40-45]

      • A case of simultaneous onset of congenital melanocytic nevus with halo phenomenon and vitiligo

( Byeong Hak Seo ),( Ji Hyun Kim ),( Yong Woo Oh ),( Dong Hee Kim ),( Yu Sung Choi ),( Ho Seok Suh ) 대한피부과학회 2019 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.71 No.1

Halo nevus is a benign melanocytic nevus surrounded by a round, well-demarcated area of depigmentation. Halo phenomenon often occurs around acquired melanocytic lesions, including intradermal and compound nevi, Spitz nevus, malignant melanoma and congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN). Vitiligo is an acquired, autoimmune, depigmenting disorder of the skin and mucous membrane, resulting from a selective loss of melanocyte. The pathogenesis of halo nevus and vitiligo is still unclear, but a similar autoimmune mechanism of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and autoantibodies to melanocytes has been suggested in both diseases. However, so far, simultaneous onset of CMN with halo phenomenon and vitiligo is rarely reported. A 6-year old boy presented with an annular whitish hypopigmented patch around a hairy pigmented plaque on the left knee and a coin-sized hypopigmented patch on the upper back. The hairy pigmented plaque appeared since birth and the depigmented patches appeared 6 months ago. Histopathologic findings from the central pigmented plaque showed nests of nevus cell, surrounded by lymphohistiocytic infiltrates in the dermis. The patient was diagnosed with CMN with halo phenomenon accompanied by vitiligo. Herein, we report a case of simultaneous onset of CMN with halo phenomenon and vitiligo.

      • Fast-switching optically isotropic liquid crystal nano-droplets with improved depolarization and Kerr effect by doping high k nanoparticles

        Kim, Byeonggon,Kim, Hyun Gyu,Shim, Gyu-Yeop,Park, Ji-Sub,Joo, Kyung-Il,Lee, Dong-Jin,Lee, Joun-Ho,Baek, Ji-Ho,Kim, Byeong Koo,Choi, Yoonseuk,Kim, Hak-Rin The Optical Society 2018 Applied optics Vol.57 No.2

<P>We proposed and analyzed an optically isotropic nano-droplet liquid crystal (LC) doped with high k nanoparticles (NPs), exhibiting enhanced Kerr effects, which could be operated with reduced driving voltages. For enhancing the contrast ratio together with the light efficiencies, the LC droplet sizes were adjusted to be shorter than the wavelength of visible light to reduce depolarization effects by optical scattering of the LC droplets. Based on the optical analysis of the depolarization effects, the influence of the relationship between the LC droplet size and the NP doping ratio on the Kerr effect change was investigated. • A case of unilateral facial vitiligo after bevacizumab

( Byeong Hak Seo ),( Ji Hyun Kim ),( Yong Woo Oh ),( Dong Hee Kim ),( Yu Sung Choi ),( Ho Seok Suh ) 대한피부과학회 2019 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.71 No.1

Vitiligo is a multifactorial, polygenic disorder, characterized by progressive autoimmune-mediated destruction of epidermal melanocytes. Its pathogenesis is still unclear, but various precipitating factors, including sun exposure, physical trauma, chemicals and drugs have been suggested. Bevacizumab is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of colorectal, lung cancer, glioblastoma and melanoma. Cutaneous adverse reactions are common with bevacizumb, including exfoliative dermatitis, maculopapular rash, perforating dermatoses and acneiform eruptions. However, vitiligo induced by bevacizumab is rarely reported. A 27-year-old man presented with 4-day history of unilateral, well-circumscribed, hypopigmented patches on the right side of neck and chin. He had started bevacizumab therapy for colon cancer 1 month ago. In wood lamp examinations, well-demarcated, bright blue to whitish accentuation was observed. The patient was diagnosed with segmental vitiligo. He has been treated with the 311-nm titanium: sapphire laser third times a week for 7 months and hypopigmented patches were gradually improved. Herein, we present a case of unilateral facial vitiligo after bevacizumab.
