A Nonlinear Observer Design for P-Cells Chopper
Benmansour, K.,Bouchhida, O.,Tlemcani, A.,Leon, J. De,Djemail, M. The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2010 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.5 No.4
This paper deals with an observer design for a P-Cell Chopper. The goal is to reduce drastically the number of sensors in such system by using an observer in order to estimate all the capacitor voltages. Furthermore, considering an instantaneous model of a p-cell chopper, an interconnected observer is designed in order to estimate the capacitor voltages and some parameters of the model. This is realized by using only the load current measurement. Simulation results are given in order to illustrate the performance of such observer. To show the validity of our approach, experimental based a DSP results are presented.

In this investigation, dynamic and bending behaviors of isolated protein microtubules are analyzed. Microtubules (MTs) can be considered as bio-composite structures that are elements of the cytoskeleton in eukaryotic cells and posses considerable roles in cellular activities. They have higher mechanical characteristics such as superior flexibility and stiffness. In the modeling purpose of microtubules according to a hollow beam element, a novel single variable sinusoidal beam model is proposed with the conjunction of modified strain gradient theory. The advantage of this model is found in its new displacement field involving only one unknown as the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, which is even less than the Timoshenko beam theory. The equations of motion are constructed by considering Hamilton's principle. The obtained results are validated by comparing them with those given based on higher shear deformation beam theory containing a higher number of variables. A parametric investigation is established to examine the impacts of shear deformation, length scale coefficient, aspect ratio and shear modulus ratio on dynamic and bending behaviors of microtubules. It is remarked that when length scale coefficients are almost identical of the outer diameter of MTs, microstructure-dependent behavior becomes more important.

Performance predictions and acoustic analysis of the HVAB rotor in hover
Mali, Hajar,Benmansour, Kawtar,Elsayed, Omer,Qaissi, Khaoula Techno-Press 2022 Advances in aircraft and spacecraft science Vol.9 No.4
This work presents a numerical investigation of the aerodynamics and aero acoustics of the HVAB rotor in hover conditions. Two fully turbulent models are employed, the one-equation Spalart-Allmaras model and the two-equation k-ω SST model. Transition effects are investigated as well using the Langtry-Menter γ-Re θt transition transport model. The noise generation and propagation are being investigated using the Ffows-Williams Hawking model for far-field noise and the broadband model for near-field noise. Comparisons with other numerical solvers and with the PSP rotor test data are presented. The results are presented in terms of thrust and power coefficients, the figure of merit, surface pressure distribution, and Sound pressure level. Velocity, pressure, and vortex structures generated by the rotor are also shown in this work. In addition, this work investigates the contribution of different blade regions to the overall noise levels and emphasizes the importance of considering specific areas for future improvements.

This paper introduces the design of a fuzzy logic controller in conjunction with direct torque control strategy for a Permanent Magnet synchronous machine. A stator flux angle mapping technique is proposed to reduce significantly the size of the rule base to a great extent so that the fuzzy reasoning speed increases. Also, a fuzzy resistance estimator is developed to estimate the change in the stator resistance. The change in the steady state value of stator current for a constant torque and flux reference is used to change the value of stator resistance used by the controller to match the machine resistance.
