Nanocomposite CrZrSiN thin films were deposited with various substrate bias voltages from 0 to -200 V using unbalanced magnetron sputtering. The crystalline structure, microhardness, microstructure, and adhesion properties of the CrZrSiN thin films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, Fischer scope, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and a scratch tester. The surface roughness and deposition rate decreased with an increase in the substrate bias voltage. The substrate bias voltage increased and the hardness increased to 36 GPa at -100 V, then decreased to 32 GPa as the substrate bias voltage further increased to -200V. The CrZrSiN thin films maintained their hardness up to 800℃ while the hardness of CrZrN film decreased rapidly over 500℃. The critical load (Lc3) increased from 8 N to 35 N up to a substrate bias voltage of -100 V, while the critical load decreased to 8 N with further increase of the substrate bias voltage. <P>Cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (ECM) regulates gene expressions in diverse dynamic environments. However, the manner in which gene expressions are regulated by extracellular cues is largely unknown. In this study, suspended gastric carcinoma cells showed higher basal and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGFβ1)-mediated acetylations of histone 3 (H3) and Lys<SUP>9</SUP>of H3 and levels of integrin-linked kinase (ILK) mRNA and protein than did fibronectin-adherent cells did. Moreover, the insignificant acetylation and ILK expression in adherent cells were recovered by alterations of integrin signaling and actin organization, indicating a connection between cytoplasmic and nuclear changes. Higher acetylations in suspended cells were correlated with associations between Smad4, p300/CBP, and Lys<SUP>9</SUP>-acetylated H3. Meanwhile, adherent cells showed more associations between HDAC3, Ski, and MeCP2. Chromatin immunoprecipitations with anti-acetylated H3, Lys<SUP>9</SUP>-acetylated H3, or p300/CBP antibody resulted in more coprecipitated ILK promoter, correlated with enhanced ILK mRNA and protein levels, in suspended cells. Moreover, ILK expression inversely regulated cell adhesion to ECM proteins, and its overexpression enhanced cell growth in soft agar. These observations indicate that cell adhesion and/or its related molecular basis regulate epigenetic mechanisms leading to a loss of ILK transcription, which in turn regulates cell adhesion property in a feedback linkage.</P>

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅은 가상공간과 물리공간의 연계를 통하여, 새로운 비즈니스 가치를 창조할 수 있는 잠재력을 가지는 것으로 기대된다. 그러나 아직까지 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 기술을 활용하여 서비스를 개발하기 위한 방법론은 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 비즈니스 모델에 근거하여 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 새로운 서비스 개발을 위한 체계적인 방법론을 모색하고, 이를 바탕으로 다양한 서비스 분야 중 쓰레기관리 분야에 적용한 사례를 제공하고자 한다. 또한 본 연구에서는 u-비즈니스 서비스 개발 방법론에 근거하여 개발된 서비스에 대한 평가를 통하여 킬러 서비스를 선정하였을 뿐만 아니라, 현재 개발되고 있는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 요소 기술을 킬러 서비스에 연계시킴으로써 그 유효성을 확보하고자 하였다. 본 연구 사례는 u-City가 추진하는 친환경적인 유비쿼터스 서비스 모델 구축 시에도 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. Linking between a virtual space and a physical space, ubiquitous computing is expected to create new business value. So far, however, there is no broadly accepted methodology to develop the services based on ubiquitous computing technology. Hence, this study aims to seek a systematic methodology for developing new services based on the concept of business model and to apply this in the areas of waste management practices. In addition, based on the evaluation of u-business services in waste management domain, killer services were selected, and then linked with the latest ubiquitous computing technologies. The results of this study are to be applicable to an environment friendly ubiquitous service model of u-City.

Background: ARF6(ADP Ribosylation Factor 6) plays an critical role in regulating tumor growth and metastasis. Cytohesin-2 is a GEF for ARF6 and its functions include cell proliferation and migration. The overexpression of ARF6 and cytohesin-2 is prevalent in many human cancers. However, very few studies have been conducted on the expressions and functions of ARF6 and cytohesin-2 in skin cancers. Objectives: This study aims to examine the expression of ARF6 and cytohesin-2 in cutaneous carcinomas including various skin cancers. Methods: 6 normal skin and 18 malignant skin tissue were examined using western blotting method and IHC for ARF6 and cytohesin-2. A cell viability study and cell migration assays were carried out on G361 cells by small interfering RNA transfection. Results: According to the results of western blotting, ARF6 and cytohesin-2 were found to be expressed in all malignant skin tumor tissues but none of them were found in normal skin tissues. The results of IHC examination on ARF6 and cytohesin-2 in skin cancers correspond to those of the western blotting. Compared to when ARF6 and cytohesin-2 were treated with siRNA respectively, the degree of apoptosis markedly increased and cell viability was inhibited in G361 cell when ARF6 and cytohesin-2 were treated with siRNA simultaneously. Conclusion: This study is the first report on the expression of ARF6 and cytohesin-2 in human skin tumors and suggests that ARF6 and cytohesin-2 play an oncogenic role in skin cancers.
Risk Factors of Secondary Lumbar Discectomy of a Herniated Lumbar Disc after Lumbar Discectomy

Objective : To study risk factors of secondary lumbar discectomy (LD) for recurrent herniated lumbar disc (HLD) and identify methods to lower the rate of recurrence. Methods : Data from 160 patients who underwent primary LD were collected retrospectively. Demographic features, radiologic findings including Pfirrmann disc degeneration, and surgical information were analyzed to compare risks between revision and non-revision patients. Results : The revision rate was 15% (24 patients), and the mean follow-up was 28.3 months. HLD recurrence was not related to any demographic characteristics. Primary and secondary LD were most common at the L4-5 level, but the level of operation was not significantly associated with revision. Primary LD most commonly had a Pfirrmann disc degeneration grade of 3, followed by 4. For recurrent HLD, Pfirrmann grade 4 was most common and was statistically significant (p<0.05). A body mass index (BMI) over 30 was considered obese and was significantly related with HLD revision (p<0.05). Conclusion : Patients with high BMI or severe disc degeneration should be informed of HLD revision.
Successful treatment of Hailey-Hailey disease with alitretinoin

We report a case of 50-year old man with 5-year history of erythema, vesicles and erosions with pustular discharge on the axillae and inguinal area. He had been treated with topical corticosteroid, antibiotics and systemic corticosteroids, but there was no improvement of the lesions. A 4-mm punch biopsy was taken from the lesion on axilla. Histology showed intraepidermal clefts, corp ronds in the granular layer and extensive acantholysis throughout the epidermis giving appearance of a ‘dilapidated brick wall’. From these findings, we diagnosed the patient Hailey-Hailey Disease (HHD). After being treated with alitretinoin 30mg once a day and topical steroid for 3 months, skin lesions much improved. HHD, also known as familial benign chronic pemphigus, is a rare autosomal-dominant blistering skin disease. There are various therapeutic options for HHD, but these are often ineffective or limited. Because alitretinoin is well tolerated and has a shorter period of contraception, we suggest alitretinoin as an additional therapeutic option of refractory HHD.

Micro-columnar CsI(Tl) is the most popular scintillator material which is used for many indirect digital X-ray imaging detectors. The light scattering at the surface of micro-columnar CsI(Tl) scintillator was studied to find the correlation between the surface roughness and the resultant image resolution of indirect X-ray imaging detectors. Using a commercially available optical simulation program, Light Tools, MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) curves of the CsI(Tl) film thermally evaporated on glass substrate with different thickness were calculated and compared with the experimental estimation of MTF values by the edge X-ray image method and CCD camera. It was found that the standard deviation value of Gaussian scattering model which is determined by the surface roughness of micro-columns could certainly change the MTF value of image sensors. This model and calculation methodology will be beneficial to estimate the overall performance of indirect X-ray imaging system with CsI(Tl) scintillator film for optimum design depending on its application.

본 논문에서는 효율적인 번호판 인식을 위하여 번호판 영역 식별과 문자 분리, 문자 인식에 적합한 번호판 인식 시스템을 위한 방법들을 제안하고자한다. 번호판 영역 식별에는 실시간 처리가 가능하도록 속도가 빠르고, 번호판 영역의 누락이 없는 방법이 필요하다. 제안된 알고리즘은 효율성을 입증하기 위하여 역전파 알고리즘만을 이용한 인식시스템과 SVM만을 이용한 인식시스템 그리고 제안한 인식 시스템을 각각 실험하였다. 그 결과 역전파 알고리즘을 이용한 경우 87.9%, SVM의 경우91.4%의 번호판 인식을 한 반면 제안된 알고리즘은 98.6%의 인식률을 나타내어 최소 7.9%에서 최대 12.2%의 인식률이 향상되었다. This study will suggest methods for a license plate recognition system that is suitable for license plate identification, separation of letters, and recognition of letters in order to recognize a licence plate efficiently. The suggested algorithm had tested a recognition system that onlyused backpropagation, a recognition system that used only SVM, and the suggested recognition system in order to prove efficiency. As a result, recognition rate had increased from the minimum 7.9% to the maximum12.2% as the case of using back propagation recognized the number platefor 87.9%, the case of using SVM for 91.4%, and the suggested had 98.6% of recognition rate.
