This study was designed to adopt two estrus synchronization protocols in zebu and crossbred heifers and their effects on pregnancy rate after timed artificial insemination (TAI). A number of 120 cyclic heifers were allotted for two different treatment groups and one control group. Heifers under protocol A were injected with GnRH at first day followed by a single dose of at Day 11 and injection of GnRH at the day of AI; and heifers belonged to protocol B were treated with GnRH, two injections at 11 days apart and injection of GnRH at AI. AI was done at fixed time (within 72~96 hours after injection) in both protocols and pregnancy was confirmed by rectal palpation on 80~120 days of post AI. In control group; local heifers were conceived higher (30%) proportion than that of crossbred heifers (25%; p<0.05). In protocol A, the local breed were conceived higher (38.9%) proportion compared with crossbred (25%; p<0.05). In protocol B, local breed heifers were conceived higher (38.9%) proportion compared with crossbred heifers (33.3%; p<0.05). The overall pregnancy rate in protocol A and protocol B was 33.3% and 36.6%, respectively. The proportion of pregnancy rate of local heifers (38.9%; Protocol A) was significant (p<0.05) in comparison with local heifers (30%) in control group (p<0.05). The overall pregnancy rate between pooled control group (28.3%) and treatment group (35%) was significantly (p<0.05) differ from each other's. Results of present study concluded that estrus synchronization followed by fixed time AI could be applied for higher pregnancy rate in zebu and crossbred heifers.

Structure and Vibration Analyses of Low Speed Contra-Rotating Fan Stage with High Aspect Ratio
Sah, Supen Kumar,Ghosh, Anup,Mistry, Chetan S The Society for Aerospace System Engineering 2021 International Journal of Aerospace System Engineer Vol.8 No.1
Contra-rotating fan is comprised of two rotors which are rotating in the opposite direction. The fan stages are named rotor-1 and rotor-2. Benefits from the use of contra rotation are in terms of better efficiency and improved thrust to weight ratio. Failure of contra-rotating fan stage blade in-service results in safety risks, repair costs, and revenue losses. This paper focuses on the vibration analysis and one way fluid-structure interaction of high aspect ratio, low speed contrarotating fan rotors. Modal analysis and modal pre-stress analysis of contra-rotating fan rotors were carried out to calculate the natural frequencies, One way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) was carried out where the computational analysis of the blades was performed using ANSYS CFX. The boundary conditions for CFD analysis were considered from the actual experimental velocity flow field at the inlet and pressure outlet. Based on the results obtained from the CFD analysis, the structural analysis such as deformation and Von-Misses stresses was carried out by using the finite element method (FEM) with ANSYS. The results provide necessary guidelines for the safe running of the contra-rotating fan. The analysis also will be helpful to understand the change of flow behavior due to a rotor deformation.

Objective-The present study aimed to investigate whether graded doses of Bacopa Monniera (BM) extract could produce antidepressant-like effects in chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) induced depression in rats and its possible mechanism(s). Methods-Rats were subjected to an experimental setting of CUS. The effect of BM extract treatment in CUS-induced depression was examined using behavioral tests including the sucrose consumption, open field test and shuttle box escape test. The mechanism underlying the antidepressant-like action of BM extract was examined by measuring brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) protein and mRNA expression in brain tissues of CUS-exposed rats. Results-Exposure to CUS for 4 weeks caused depression-like behavior in rats, as indicated by significant decreases in sucrose consumption, locomotor activity and escape latency. In addition, it was found that BDNF protein and mRNA levels in the hippocampus and frontal cortex were lower in CUS-treated rats, as compared to controls. Daily administration of the graded doses of BM extract during the 4-week period of CUS significantly suppressed behavioral changes and attenuated the CUS-induced decrease in BDNF protein and mRNA levels in the hippocampus and frontal cortex. Conclusion-The results suggest that BM extract alleviates depression induced by CUS. Present study also confirms that 80–120 mg/kg doses of BM extract have significantly higher antidepressant-like activity.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/jute fiber biocomposites with: i) untreated jute fiber, ii) NaOH treated jute fiber, and iii) (NaOH+silane) treated jute fibers were prepared by melt extrusion process. Microcellular foaming of the injection molded samples was carried out by using single stage batch process. The effects of jute fiber content as well as that of matrix-fiber phase adhesion, in composites with surface treated jute fibers, on the foam microstructure were studied. Further, water absorption, thickness swelling, and biodegradation behavior of the foamed biocomposites were studied and correlated with their foam microstructures. It was observed that on increasing jute fiber content in PLA/JFU biocomposites, cell density increased from 6.5×107 to 8.1×107, while the cell size and expansion ratio decreased from 40 to 23 μm and 2.41 to 1.45, respectively. Again, on increasing the extent of the jute fiber surface treatment in the biocomposites, cell size and expansion ratio increased from 40 to 78 μm and 2.41 to 2.80 respectively. This study also revealed that the rate of biodegradation accelerated with increase in the jute fiber content in the biocomposites while the same retarded with increase in the extent of jute fiber surface treatment.
Reduced Expression of Limd1 in Ulcerative Oral Epithelium Associated with Tobacco and Areca Nut
Maiti, Guru Prasad,Ghosh, Amlan,Chatterjee, Ramdas,Roy, Anup,Sharp, Tyson V.,Roychoudhury, Susanta,Panda, Chinmay Kumar Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9
Purpose: The aim of this study was to cast light on initiating molecular events associated with the development of premalignant oral lesions induced by tobacco and/or areca nut. Method: Immunohistochemical analyses of cell cycle regulatory proteins (LIMD1, RBSP3, p16, RB, phosphorylated RB, p53), EGFR and SH3GL2 (EGFR associated protein) were performed with inflammatory/ulcerative epithelium and adjacent hyperplastic/mild dysplastic lesions. Results: No change in expression of the proteins was seen in inflammatory epithelium. Reduced nuclear expression of LIMD1 was evident in ulcerative epithelium. In hyperplastic lesions, reduced expression of RBSP3, p16, SH3GL2 and overexpression of p-RB and EGFR were apparent. Reduced nuclear expression of p53 was observed in mild dysplastic lesions. Conclusion: Our data suggest that inactivation of LIMD1 in ulcerative epithelium might predispose the tissues to alterations of other cell cycle regulatory and EGFR signaling proteins needed for the development of premalignant oral lesions.
