Recently, environmental pollution has become a big problem in industry and many researches have been done in order to preserve the environment. In the milling process, the cutting fluid has great influence on the environment. If these additives(S, Cl, P) in cutting fluid go into the workplace atmosphere, it is harmful for workers. Therefore, many reasons cause to minimize the amount of cutting fluid. The paper presents a cooling method effectiveness of compressed cold air and oil mist than the that of cutting fluid. And this study show that tool life, surface roughness, surface profile, roundness become better when machining by using compressed cold air and oil mist.
인공관절 라이너의 내마모성 향상을 위한 UHMWPE의 감마선 조사량에 따른 기계적 특성 변화

Uniaxial tension and compression test were conducted on conventional and crosslinked ultra-high molecular polyethylene(UHMWPE) all prepared from the same lot of medical grade GUR 1050. The conventional materials were unirradiated and gamma irradiated with 25kGy~200kGy. Gamma irradiated processing was found to significantly impact the crystallinity, and hence the mechanical behavior, of the highly crosslinked UHMWPE. The crystallinity and radiation dose were key predictors of the uniaxial yielding, plastic flow, and failure properties of conventional and highly crosslinked UHMWPE. The correlation model from experiments would be the basic information to design the liner of artificial joint.

A 17-year-old male patient of aortic stenoinsufficiency with a small aortic annulus underwent aortic valve replacement[St. Jude Medical valve 21mm] with Rittenhouse-Man-ouguian procedure[patch enlargement of the area of the noncoronary sinus and anterior mitral leaflet] The used patch was made from tubular dacron graft[the longitudinal length was 35mm, the width 20mm]. The length of incision into anterior mitral leaflet was 10mm and the aortic annulus was enlarged in 10mm, The patient was evaluated with two-dimensional echocardiography at 4 month after operation and the result was excellent.
