Flow accelerated corrosion(FAC) is a phenomenon that results in metal loss from piping, vessels, and equipment made of carbon steel. It is judged that the wall thinning damages have been generated due to local fluid behavior around the impingement baffle installed in downstream of the high pressure turbine extraction steam line to avoid colliding directly with the tubes. From the result of the established experiment analysis for the modified impingement baffle to mitigate the shell wall thinning, it was identified that the shell wall thinning may be improve by the new shape of impingement plate. But an experimental study for an optimum design of advanced impinging baffle in extraction nozzle model of a feedwater heater is in urgent situation. In consequence, this experimental study was operated to identify an optimum design with altering the distance between the original clogged impingement baffle and the application for porous plate impingement baffle.
