In this study, a new Korean grammar education method was needed for immigrant children, and grammar tasks based on the characteristics of narratives were developed. Children aged 5 to 13 were in the process of developing cognitive abilities and self-identity. It is not easy to teach Korean grammar to children with these characteristics by the same explicit teaching methods as adult learners. In particular, children are rich in imagination and have the characteristics of constructing meaning in a self-centered manner. The nature of these children is in many ways consistent with the narrative. Thus, in this study, the narrative task was developed and applied to 8 immigrant children in D Elementary School over a 5-week period. As a result, they acquired grammar items related to the expansion of sentences such as adnominal suffix, which was the highest, and effectively learned the possible and conjectural expression of modality.
