The purpose of this study was to explore the nature, factors, and psychological impact of having a child with disability on Korean American mothers. The participants of this study were four Korean American mothers of students with disabilities. Their age ranged from 46 years to 56 years. The age of students of participants ranged from 16 to 24 years. Individual semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted and audio-recorded with all participants. This study used for the semi-structured interview with specific questions, such as, Tell us about raising your son/daughter, Tell us about your relationship with your husband, other children, extended family, and friends, and What do you think about the support system of USA for children with disabilities? The data was analyzed using open coding, axial coding, and selective coding by grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin, 1990). Through axial coding, this study obtained a paradigm model about the child raising experience of these mothers. The causal condition were deviation from normal development and communication barrier. The phenomenon was endless companion. The context were acculturative stress, denial of disability diagnosis and support system. The intervening conditions were improvement or worse of disability, ego and severity of disability. The action strategies were aggressive education, customized education, dependence on religion and compromise with reality. The consequences were psychological maturity, absurd expectation, overwhelming and resignation.
