To provide the basic information for the water improvement and control of water resource in Boryung fresh water reservoir watershed, the characteristics of stream sediments and water quality of the watershed were investigated through 16 times totally, form November in 1998 to March in 2000. The COD values of stream water quality of the Boryung fresh-water reservoir watershed ranged from 0.75 to 6.38. Total -N concentration affected by the livestock wastes and agricultural activity ranged from 0.45 to 21.80mg/L and which was almost over the quality standard of agricultural water(1.0mg/L). Total-P concentration ranged from 0~0.176 mg/L and average value 0.031 mg/L. The contents of heavy metals from 138.4 to 3,457.3mg/kg and total-P were from 210.0 to 468.3 mg/kg. These were very high according to the influence by the livestock waste and sewage water partly.

This study was carried out to investigate the water quality of agricultural reservoirs in Chonbuk Province. The water quality of 189 agricultural reservoirs was surveyed in the environmental standard phase of pH, EC, DO, BOD, COD, T-N, T-P, etc. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows ; 1. The levels of mean reservoir storage were very low as 26.9% in January and February, 29.4% in June, 16.0% in August, and 25.4% as a whole. 2. The water qualities of agricultural reservoirs were shown to be in the average of 6.8 in pH, 0.210mmhos/cm in EC, 49.0ppm in turbidity, 28.5mg/ℓ in SS, 3.79mg/ℓ in DO, 9. 9mg/ℓ in COD, 5.Smg/ℓ in BOD, 0.179mg/ℓ in T-P, 4.09mg/ℓ in T-N, 0.416meq/ℓ in Na, 0.154meq/ℓ in K, 0.320meq/ℓ in Ca, 0.166meq/ℓ in Mg, respectively. 3. In the analyzed results, the proper counterplan is desirable to be considered because the levels of water quality in most items except DO were comparatively higher than the limit points of agricultural water quality standard.

This study was carried out to investigate the paddy soil and water quality in Boryung freshwater reservoir watershed during the non-cropping season. Soil pH of the Boryung freshwater reservoir watershed were 5.39-5.78. Total-N and P contents were high by the accumulation of chemical fertilizer pal1ly. Heavy metal content of paddy soils were natural background level. Water pH of the Boryung freshwater reservoir watershed ranged from 6.82 to 8.64. Total-N content affected by a livestock wastes and sewage water were the higher than that of others and total-P content showed below 0.1 mg/L. Nitrate nitrogen contents was very high according to the influence a livestock waste and sewage water partly. Heavy metal contents of waters were natural background level.

In intensive agriculture, exceeded chemical fertilizer application would increase the concentration of nitrate nitrogen in groundwater. Consequently, it could bring the eutrophication in lakes and streams. The present study examined runoff loading of nitrogen and phosphorus from the paddy field during non-cropping season. The runoff loading of total-N, ammonia-N, nitrate-N and total-P were 12.96kglha, 5.42kg/ha, 1.52kg/ha and 1.41 kg/ha When the runoff loading of nutrients was compared by runoff water and sediments, About 70-80% of total-N by runoff water and the rest 20-30% by runoff sediments were flowed into streams. But 60-70% of total- p by runoff sediments and the rest 30-40% by runoff water were flowed into streams. The phosphorus compounds, which were flowed into streams by runoff sediments and then sedimented, keep exchanging with water at water body in undelivered condition. And it moves gradually into water layer. This process can cause eutrophication continually and repeatedly in water environment. So, a sound program is needed to reduce soil erosion from farmlands.

This study was carried out to estimate the runoff pollutant loadings for water quality management in Boryung freshwater reservoir watershed. The hydrological monitoring system were operated for water level measurement during 1999-2000 and temporal variation of water quality constituents such as pH, EC, total nitrogen, total phosphorus were analysed, periodically. Monthly runoff volumes by TANK model and potential pollutant loadings calculated by unit method were compared with measured values.
