The objectives of this study were to investigate the atomization characteristics and the engine performance characteristics using the change of injection nozzle form and ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel.<br/> 1. To evaluate the effect of ulrasonic energy and the change of injection nozzle form, droplet size<br/> measurements earned out using Malvern system. 2. To analyze the change of ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel, chemical analysis and physical analysis earned out using 'H-NMR spectrum, viscosity system and surface tension system.<br/> 3. In the diesel engine test, there were results about engine performance and exhaust emission.<br/> In Summary, the results of this study indicate that ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel induced beneficial changes in SMD, engine performance and exhaust emission. And the B type was excellent in all type of injection nozzle.

This paper describes briefly the effect of ultrasonic fuel supply device on the performance of four stroke cycle gasoline engine. Experiments were carried out to clarify the effect of ultrasonic fuel supply device on the engine output, traveling fuel consumption ratio, exhaust emissions.<br/> The results were obtained as follows:<br/> 1. Engine output was increased 9~14 % in comparison with that of the conventional injector. 2. Travelling fuel consumption ratio was improved 17~29 % in comparison with that of the conventional injector.<br/> 3. CO, HC exhaust emissions was decreased compared to the value of the conventional injector. 4. Fuel consumption ratio in highway driving test was improved about 10 % in comparison with<br/> that of the conventional injector.

This study investigated the characteristics of ultrasonic energy added diesel fuel. We compared the characteristics used ^1H-NMR spectrum, FT-IR spectrum, viscosity and surface tension between conventional diesel fuel and ultrasonic energy added diesel fuel.<br/> The result are obtained as follow :<br/> We knew that ultrasonic energy cause to reduce BI and aromatics Ha, decrease viscosity and surface tension but increase Alkanes Hγ.<br/> The effect of ultrasonic energy added diesel fuel was principally caused by change of chemical structures and a physical characteristics.<br/>

To improve the performance of diesel automobile engine, we designed new fuel supply system named ultrasonic fuel supply system. The performance test of diesel automobile engine carried out to examine possibility of practical use of ultrasonic fuel supply system to test engine. This paper deals with the comparative results of performance test of diesel automobile engine in terms of smoke, HC, SFC, PS, thermal, efficiency, torque.<br/> Following are obtained result.<br/> 1) In naturally aspirated diesel engine, when we use ultrasonic fuel supply system output, fuel consumptions are improved and exhaust gas reduced significantly.<br/> 2) In turbo-charging diesel engine both using of ultrasonic fuel supply system and using of conventional injector, engine performance and exhaust gas temperature are almost constant.<br/> 3) In turbo-charging diesel engine, when we use ultrasonic fuel supply system, NOx are emitted approximately 3.5% higher than total average.<br/> 4) In turbo-charging diesel engine, when we use ultrasonic fuel supply system, smoke and CO are 17% and 11.8% improved respectively.

The objective of this study is to investigate the atomization characteristics and the performance characteristics of a C. I. engine by using the changes of the injection nozzle type and the ultrasonic-energy-added system.<br/> In order to evaluate the effect of ultrasonic energy and of change of injection nozzle type on the performance characteristics of a diesel engine, measurements of droplet size of diesel fuel were carried out by using Malvern system. In all types of injection nozzles, SlVID of the ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel was smaller than that of the conventional diesel fuel and the more injection pressure increased, the more SMD decreased. There was a small increase in SlVID with the distance from injection nozzle under all conditions of the injection nozzle types. The minimum SlVID was found in the injection nozzle of B type.<br/> In the diesel engine test, there were three results about the engine performance. Compared with the injection nozzle of A type, B type had excellent effects in the engine performance. The most excellent effects about the engine performance were obtained in the case of ultraonic-energy-diesel fuel. In addition, the torque diagram in the case of ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel was more stable and periodical than others.<br/>

This study carried out to investigate the spray characteristics of diesel oil through out ultrasonic fuel supply system in comparison with conventional.<br/> Size of the droplets comprising diesel spray was measured by immersed liquid method at different positions along the spray axis. Droplets distribution diagram was ploted and Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD) was also calculated.<br/> The effects of the ultrasonic vibration and injection pressure on the droplet size distribution and SMD were investigated. As the ultrasonic vibration supply SMD decreases on the same injection pressure condi-tions with conventional injector's. But the effect of ultrasonic vibration decreases with injection pressure increasing.
