Prospects of the Korean and Chinese Film Industry after COVID-19

2019년 12월 이후 코비드19가 전 세계로 빠르게 확산됨에 따라 각국의 정부는 코비드19에 맞서 사회적 거리두기, 온라인 교육 등 다양한 노력을 지속적으로 강력하게 시행해 오고 있다. 그러나 그럼에도 불구하고 국가 간의 경제활동은 물론 정치, 사회, 문화, 스포츠 등의 전 분야에 걸쳐 인류는 새로운 도전에 위협받고 있다. 특히 밀집된 공간에 여러 사람이 모일 수밖에 없는 영화산업은 그 특성상 결정적인 영향을 받을 수밖에 없다. 영화산업은 한중 양국의 문화산업 발전에 있어 중요한 의미와 가치를 지니고 있으며, 경제적 측면에서도 그 부가가치가 높은 산업 분야이기 때문에 이와 같은 위기 상황을 돌파할 자구책이 절실하게 필요한 때이다. 본고는 한중 양국의 영화산업의 활성화를 위한 정부 차원의 정책 시행과 영화업계의 노력 등의 현황을 통하여 향후 한중 양국의 영화산업 발전과 전망을 가늠해 보고자 한다. Since December 2019, as the COVID-19 has spread rapidly around the world, governments have strongly implemented various quarantine policies, including keeping social distance between individuals and online education etc. Nevertheless, mankind is threatened with new challenges in all areas of politics, society, culture and sports, as well as economic activities between countries. In particular, the film industry, where many people gather in dense spaces, has been affected by its nature, resulting in a sharp drop in sales and audience numbers. Since the film industry has significant meaning and value in the development of cultural industries in both Korea and China, and it is a highly value-added industrial sector in terms of economy, it is time for the government to take measures to overcome such crisis. This paper aims to predict the future development and prospects of the film industry of Korea and China through the implementation of government-level policies for the revitalization of the film industry in both countries and the efforts of the film industry.

상해는 한국인들에게 있어서 하나의 특수한 삶의 공간이었다. 20세기 20-30년대, 상해는 표면으로나마 급속한 발전을 이룩하였고 ‘동양의 파리’, ‘동양의 런던’으로 불렸다. 이와 같은 상해에 대해 당시 한국의 지식인들은 각별한 관심을 가졌을 뿐만 아니라 또 직접 상해 현장을 방문하고 많은 관련 작품들을 남겼다. 본 연구는 김광주의 상해체험소설을 연구대상으로 삼아 그러한 작품에 나타난 상해의 도시 공간, 그리고 이면에 내재된 근대사회에 대한 상상과 이해, 인식의 진면목을 밝혀보는 데 초점을 맞추고자 하였다. 상해는 일제식민지통치에 처해있던 김광주에게 경제와 문화가 발달한 곳이고 자유롭고 평화로운 이국적인 분위기가 가득 넘치는 근대도시였다. 그런데 형의 뜻을 어기고 경제적 지원이 끊긴 김광주는 상해에 있는 동안 아주 빈궁한 삶을 영위할 수밖에 없었다. 따라서 그가 상해의 하층계급에 접근하는 기회가 생겼고 그의 소설도 상해의 국제성과 근대성, 그리고 화려한 국제대도서의 허상보다 상해의 근대성에 수반된 온갖 부조리에 대한 묘사가 더 큰 비중을 차지고 있다. 총괄적으로 본 연구는 김광주가 이국땅에서 남긴 문학작품에 대한 분석을 통해 상해라는 근대적 도시공간뿐만 아니라 이런 특수한 공간에서 한국이주민들의 기구한 생활을 고찰함으로써 당시 한국지식인들이 상상했던 근대문명의 표상과 진실을 보여주는 점에서 의미를 가지며 재중 한인의 중국체험과 작가의식을 깊이 있게 고찰하는 측면에서도 두드러진 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. Shanghai is a modern metropolis in the 1920s and 1930s, known as the “Paris of the East”, “East London”. So, for Kim Gwang-ju, Shanghai is a place which is full of deadly temptation. This paper will use research methods of the comparative image literature to analyze the novels of Kim Gwang-ju. Through these novels we can have a more intuitive feel about Kim Gwang-ju"s complex mentality, longing and yearning for the modernization, and the reflection for modern civilization and the reality for his national caused by this, when he is in face of Shanghai. When Kim Gwang-ju first arrived in Shanghai, he is full of curiosity and praise for Shanghai. He see modern material civilization, architecture, music, and exoticism. But at the same time, he didn"t ignore the colonization of Shanghai, and not only see the modern civilization brought by Westerners. With further understanding, he found that the various contradictions and social problems of civilization. His understanding about Shanghai is not just stay on the appearance of modern civilization. He recognizes that the modern civilization Westerners bringing is full of colonization. Moreover he can analyze the causes of social problems from the invasion of capitalism and the disadvantages of the material, which is a big step forward compared with the previous understanding. This paper will treat Kim Gwang-ju’s novels as the object of study, focusing on the analysis of the urban space in modern Shanghai. We can have a more intuitive feel about his complex mentality and the reality for his national caused by this, when he is in face of Shanghai. In addition, this is also one of the important research materials about Shanghai which is a supplement to the study on this aspect in the modern and contemporary times.
