In this paper, numerical method of evaluating the influence of Dual Mass Flywheel(DMFW) and Conventional Single Mass Flywheel(SMFW) on the vibrational characteristics of Power Train is presented. We also applied this procedure to the currently being developed HMC's DMFW attached to an 2.5L FF car to find out the effectiveness of DMFW over SMFW. We find out that the vibrational characteristics of power train system can be significantly improved in most of the driving circumstances when the DMFW's torsional vibrational characteristics are optimized. This procedure can be used with selected testing method to help an optimized DMFW.<br/>

DMF(Dual mass flywheel) is one of the solutions that can reduce noise and vibration of power train systems and<br/> improve the comfortability of passenger car. In this paper, the effects of design parameters in DMF on torsional<br/> vibration are investigated. The objective of this study is to optimize the design parameters by some driving tests and<br/> minimize the vibration level of transmission without any increment in that of engine. As the result of these tests, we<br/> can find more efficient model of DMF and reduce vibration level in power train system.
