The nuclear transmutation technology to incinerate the long lived radioactive nuclides and produce energy during the incineration process is believed to be one or the best solutions. HYPER(HYbrid Power Extraction Reactor)is the accelerator driven transmutation system which is being developed by KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). Lead-bismuth(Pb-Bi) is adopted as a coolant and Spallation target material. In this paper, we performed the thermal-hydraulic analysis of HYPER target using the commerical code FLUENT, and also calculated thermal and mechanical stress of the beam window using the commerical code ANSYS. It is found that there is an optimum value for the window diameter wld the maximum allowable beam current an be increased to 17.3 mA for the inner diameter of windows, 40 cm. Finally, the other shapes such as uniform or scanned beam were considered. The results of FLUENT calculations show that the uniform type is preferable to the other shapes of the bean in terms of the window and target cooling and the maximum window temperature is lower than that of the parabolic beam by 58 t for the beam current, 13 mA.

Characteristics of the twin fluid spray with ultrasonic forcing are examined in order to obtain the high efficiency of cold fog spray of the automatic pest control machine which has been widely used for the equipment cultivation recently.<br/> An electrostrictive vibrator of PZT BLT and a magnetostrictive vibrator of π type with 28kHz are<br/> applied as the ultrasonic transducer. All experiments are made and observed in 4 methods of spray ; a conventional spray method without ultrasonic forcing, an indirect vibration method with ultrasonic forcing. an improving quality method by ultrasonic forced within liquid. and a combined use method with both of the indirect vibration method and the improving quality method. In results, It was clarified that the ultrasonic effects the atomization of spray droplets and especially much more in the case of the combined use method.

The objective of this study is to investigate characteristics of flow by the promoter setup and the choice of the turbulent intensity enhancement section. The promoter was setup vertically to the way of a nozzle exit. flow, each pitch fixed to be 30㎜ and the measurement region divided by 4 section (A, B, C, D). The characteristics of flow field were investigated in each case of the distance rate from the nozzle exit to impinging plate(H/B=4. 6, 8, 10> changing nozzle exit diameter(10, 17, 23㎜) and Re=4,000.<br/> As the experimental result by PIV measurement, scale of the ,rector profile showed a tendency to an unbalance parabola distribution as increasing of the nozzle diameter at H/b=8. C section and free jet. When the Square promoter installed in front of the impinging plate the acceleration of the flow and the eddies due to the promoter seem to contribute to the turbulence intensity enhancement in nozzle diameter 23㎜, H/B=6, and the B section. The turbulent intensity rate is about 1.8 times larger than that without square promoter.
超音波가 加振된 圓形제트의 流動解析을 爲한 디지털 映像處理技法의 適用에 關한 硏究

Enhancement of turbulent flow is needed to increase the efficiency of heat transfer between fuel bundles and coolant in the nuclear reactor. The analysis of flow within a coaxial circular pipe by a jet pump to supply coolant and the method of turbulent flow enhancement with minimum power losses have to be investigated. In this study, the application of the digital imaginary method to analyze characteristics of the circular jet flow has been established and a method to enhance turbulent flow researched with adding ultrasonic vibration. In results, characteristics of flow such as velocity distribution, entrainment, vortex, separation, reattachment, and time mean kinetic energy were obtained and the efficiency of turbulent flow enhancement by ultrasonic vibration was examined.

A Study on characteristics of the internal flow in a circular pipe by ultrasonic sound pressure was carried out with a 28kHz PZT BLT. In order to investigate the flow characteristics according to the liquid load, the Langevin bolted transducer was set in an acrylic tube as a piston type without liquid leakage. Phenomena of the internal flow of liquid were measured at 3 load levels by PIV. Velocity vector, velocity profile and turbulent kinetic energy distribution were visualized and observed. In results, several internal flow characteristics by ultrasonic vibrations were examined.
