Curtain wall systems in office building have repeated joints between units, which cause unintentional infiltration. It means that air-tightness of curtain wall systems is directly connected to building energy performance. Many countries have already enhanced air-tightness performance demands through Energy Code. In this study, a variety of airtightness performance criteria and mock-up test results of curtain wall systems were analyzed. As results, current status of air- tightness performance for curtain wall systems was enough to satisfy criteria of Korea.
국내 커튼월 시스템의 기밀성능 요구수준 및 향상방안에 관한 연구

Curtain-wall systems in office buildings have repeated joints between units, which cause unintentional infiltration. It means that air-tightness of curtain-wall systems is directly related to building energy performance. Many countries have already enhanced air-tightness performance demands through Energy Code. In this study, a variety of air-tightness performance criteria and mock-up lab test results of curtain wall systems were analyzed. As results, air-tightness performance criteria for curtain-wall systems are suggested as follows. DIN EN 12153 and DIN EN 12207 are used as a comparison tool to analyze present states of fixed lights and opening lights in domestic buildings with curtain wall systems. According to the analyst, we suggested that Class A4 is suitable for fixed lights and Class 4 is suitable for opening lights of curtain wall system.

Ventilation is essential for healthy indoor air quality. However, thermal condition of outdoor air is so poor in summer and winter that ventilation is apt to increase energy consumption. Therefore, energy-efficient ventilation system is very important. Thermal labyrinth system is a ventilation system which intakes outdoor air through an underground concrete structure shaped like a labyrinth. This system can precool and preheat the outdoor air in summer and winter, respectively, by the heat exchange with ground. The purpose of this study is to analyze the temperature and humidity of outdoor air passing through thermal labyrinth system, applied to the E University building, by measurement in August.
