This study was carried out to investigate the feasibility of the used frying oil as a bin-oil which was one of the alternative fuel for diesel engine. From tests of engine performance, it was shown that the bio-oil and blends and the sufficient potential as alternative fuels of diesel engine except NOx and Smoke emission.<br/> <br/>

In-plane ESPI(Electronic Speckle Patten1 Interferometry)was devised to measure in~plane defamation and rotation of a specimen with laser in this study. The conventional measuring methods of surface deformations such as the strain gauge have many demerits because they are contact and point-to-point measuring ones. But that ESPI is noncontact, nondestructive and whole field measuring method can overcome previous disadvantages. We used ESPI which is sensitive to in-plane displacement for measuring in-plane deformations of a disk. First of all, the system calibration was done due to an in-plane rotation before getting deformations of a disk. Finally we showed good agreement betweEn theexperiment results and those of the FEA(Finit Element Analysis).<br/>

In order to reduce a aerodynamic drag of the rear, body, effects of rear lower end configurauon of a vehicles were investigated by measuring the pressure distribution,visual flow phenomena by the use of digital image processing technique. The use of flow visualization in recent years has improved the general understanding of structure of complex flow and has yielded valuable information for analyzing fluid flow. As the results, it was found that the shape of rear lower part vehicles not only effected on the pressure distribution of the rear part of the vehicle but also difference of the flow phenomena,<br/> <br/>

In order to evaluate the applicability of thermosyphon as an equipment of heat transfer ot the case where natural of low temperature and low density is necessary and to propose the possibility of using natural energy being clean and inexhaustible, a thermosypon using methanol as working fluid was constructed and its transfer characteristics were analysed. The wall temperature of the thermosyphon was maintained relatively uniform after rapid increase until after being heated about ten minutes regardless of the level of input powers to the evaporating section. Inner pressure of the thermosyphon increased rapidly until after ten minutes, and then increased slowly depending on the level of input power. But heat transfer coefficient of the condensible section decreased in inverse proportion to input powers of 250~300W, showing 1008.3~829.8W/㎡·℃. For the input powers of the thermosyphon within the range of 100~250W, heat transferred and heat flux increased relatively linearly showing, in the case of input powers of 250~300W, heat transfer efficiency considerable increased, showing 63.8%.<br/>

Diesel-powered vehicles are popular for heavy-load transportation because their fuel efficiency is higher than that of gasoline-powered. Although diesel engines provide convenience in our daily life, their emission smell bad and contain many type of toxic air pollutants. Improvements in fuel properties have become essential for emission reduction as well as for optimization of directly-related design factors and exhaust gas aftertreatment. In this study, the potential possibility of oxygenated fuel such as ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether(EGBE) was investigated for the sake of smoke reduction from diesel engine. Because EGBE include oxygen content approximately 27.1%, it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel that the smoke emission of EGBE is reduced remarkably in comparison with commercial diesel fuel, that is, it can supply oxygen component sufficient at high load and speed in diesel engine.
