최근 3D프린팅 관련 기술은 오픈소스와 함께 나타나게 되었다. 오픈소스는 저작권의 배포와 수정에 제약이 있는 ‘카피 라이트’(Copy Right)를 자유로운 방법으로 배포할 수 있고, 또 능력만 된다면 얼마든지 소스코드를 수정해 배포할 수 있는 이른바 ‘카피 레프트’(Copy Left)라는 개념으로 변화시켜 현재 산업사회에 변화를 불러오고 있다. 3D 프린터 기술과 관련 시장의 발전은 급속도로 성장하고 있다. 그러나 현재 우리의 현주소는 해외수입에 의존하여 그대로 조립 부품처럼 활용하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 지속적인 기능성 향상과 3D프린터의 입체물 수정 제작의 용이성을 위해서 3D프린터의 익스트루더를 활용하여 사용자 개개인의 입체물 제작을 위한 스타일러스 펜으로 디자인 연구 개발을 진행하고자 하였다. 현안 디자이너들의 디자인 결과물을 3d프린터를 활용하여 3차원 입체물의 제작시 나타나는 여러 에로사항을 점검한 결과 스타일러스 펜을 활용한 3D펜을 디자인 개발하여 이를 보완한다면 다양한 3D프린터를 사용하는 사용자에게 별도의 시간소요 없이 수정 보완 할 수 있는 신개념의 스타일러스 펜으로 공급 가능하게 되겠다고 생각하고 연구에 몰입하게 되었다. 3D printing technologies that attract wide attention recently appear together with initial open source. Open source has been developed to turn the concept of ‘Copy Right’ that is restricted in distribution and revision into ‘Copy Left’ in which source code can be revised and distributed at any time, which caused diverse changes in the industrial society of today. 3D printer technology related market has developed rapidly. But, our current situation is to depend on overseas import and use them like assembly parts. Thus, the study performed design development using a stylus pen as an extruder, a key part of 3D printer for individual 3D production for the continual quality improvement and convenience of revision, production and use of 3D printer. As a result of difficulties in 3D production using 3D printer by design output of designers, The study was performed with an idea that a new concept of stylus pen could be supplied that enables to revise and update without time consuming to users who use various 3D printers.

Recently, the global economy has been converted from real based industrial economy to information and knowledge based knowledge economy. Currently, it was turned to creative economy. As such, the development of paradigm has been repeated. The creative economy paradigm of our society is a change moved from knowledge to creativity which is clearly shown in the series of the wave theory of Alvin Toffler. And, thanks to the success theory of fusion and integration R&D in various areas, a new eco-system of creative economy has been formed. Recently, in the industrial design, a realization effort for a new product design creativity innovation has been made like Bre Pettis of Pacific Oaks College penetrating general personal market by developing a 3D printer in 2009. And Tangram’s Smart Rope is also a fusion R&D example developed based on new interpretation of rope skipping and surprising experience that lies in the front. As such, there are wide efforts to realize product design with mechatronics design in mind beyond style focused concept in the past. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the key of fusion R&D with the fusion R&D cases of mechatronics product design and also to examine its foundation for success.
