As the number of international students continue to rise, housing has become a matter of concern. Faced with the challenges of social interaction, international students are drawn to the benefits of shared housing. This research investigates the needs of Korean and Chinese international students regarding personal space and shared space in shared housing. A literature review was examined to determine the current state of shared housing design in Korea and China and a questionnaire survey was conducted to mainly focus on the needs of international students. As a result, the literature review showed that share houses in Korea and China differ in terms of housing type, size and composition of personal and shared spaces. Korean and Chinese students showed significant differences in terms of needs for arrangement type of share houses, shape, theme and intention to attend parties or meetings in community spaces. Both Korean and Chinese students tended to prefer private single rooms the most, with Korean students preferring them slightly more than Chinese students. Besides toilets and showers, Korean students preferred to add a dressing room, while Chinese students wanted to add a private balcony. Korean students showed a strong preference for sharing one living room and one kitchen or dining space per three bedrooms, whereas Chinese students preferred one living room and one kitchen or dining space per two bedrooms. Chinese students considered the living room the largest space and wanted to separate it from other spaces. Korean students viewed the kitchen and dining space as spaces for community activities whereas Chinese students focused on the basic functions of cooking and eating.

Share house provides not only resident private spaces but also public spaces which provide a space for interaction between residents. This study analyzes and compares community place factors Convenience, Amenity, Accessibility and Safety for public space of shared housing in China and South Korea. Grasp the public space definition and community place factors of shared house through preliminary research. Case analysis selected 3 shared house in Seoul and Beijing to analyze four design features. Finally, the Korean and Chinese cases showed disadvantages in terms of convenience, accessibility, and safety, and showed consistency by using Y, YR-series colors and using light efficiently.

This study investigates the rest area and the transfer access area of Busan Station, Line 1 of the urban subway in Busan, Korea, and grasps the morphology of people in the two areas. Based on the current situation and behavior of people using the spaces, the study proposes improvement plans for the subsequent design of the spaces. This study was conducted through on-site observation surveys. The main findings include that there is no major difference in people’s use of space between midweek and weekend. Among the morning and afternoon time periods, the frequency of use was higher in the afternoon than in the morning. Among the types of behaviors, in addition to the basic walking behavior, there were also small behaviors that, although small in number, would make the space more convenient for those using it if the furniture or design elements in the space were slightly changed.

The number of subway users has increased every year, making it one of the most popular means of transportation. This study aims to investigate the color uses of the subway guidance sign system and propose a color control creteria for guidance signs in subway stations. A field study was conducted on the transfer stations of Seomyeon Station and Deokcheon Station located in Busan. The process uncluds taking pictures of guidance signs using spydercube for the white balance and selecting and converting main colors of the on into NCS. The color uses of each guidance signs were analyzed and compared by guidance sign types.
