The commutation operation of the current source converter for switched reluctance motor drives is analyzed in this paper. The commutation operation in the current source converter consists of two modes. At turn-off of phase switch, the phase current decreases sinusoidally, and the sum of two phase currents during commutation period is constant. At this time, the capacitor voltage increases quickly with changing polarity and decreases slowly when another phase switches turn on or off. Frequency of step-down DC chopper in the current source converter is low because of the dump such as BJTs and GTOs are possible as phase switches instead of Power MOSFET and IGBTS. They may result in reductions of conduction losses and manufacturing cost in the current source converter comparing to the voltage source converter of SRM.

This paper describes a new approach to the control problem based on the use of inverter- 2 phase servomotor drives in which complementary pairs of power MOSFET s are used to implemem the inverters interfaced to the Z- 80 microprocessor. An attempt have been made to eleminate harmonics by using PWM techniguse and to reduce control system by phase control method. The position control of the 2 phase servomotor operated by PWM system and phase control method is applied. As controller, the PI algorithm is adapted. The transient respones of the motor position are simulated by digital computer and verified by laboratory experiment.

In this paper the novel pulsewidth modulation(PWM) technique for the 2-leg and 4-leg two-phase inverter is proposed. The conventional SVPWM technique for two-leg two-phase inverter was complex. Proposed PWM techniques are built by the offset voltage inserting theory used in three-phase inverter. The proposed PWM for two-leg two-phase inverter is simpler than the conventional SVPWM technique. In this paper, four-leg two-phase inverter is also proposed, which is used by two single-phase full bridge inverter. Switching period for proposed two techniques are realized by a carrier waveform.

New PWM technique for two-phase three-leg inverter fed two-phase induction motor is poroposed. It is complex to realize the reference voltage vector the space vector PWM method in two-phase three-leg inverter. In this paper, PWM technique becomes simple by offset voltage inserting method used in three-phase inverter, and switching period is calculated by double carrier waveform.

In this paper, space voltage vector pulse width modulation for 2-phase inverter is proposed. When this method is appled to 2-phase induction motor, the phase difference of voltage between phase A and B is fixed at 90˚ and amplitude of voltage of phase A is same with that of phase B. This method have advantages over low-power servo system because this is simple method comparing to 3-phase space vector method which requires d-q transform.<br/> <br/>
