This study gives an overall optimal conceptual design method that helps minimize investment and annual operating expenses while taking into consideration design issues related to manufacturing logistics. It also presents a mathematical model for determining the desired storage capacity. The design method calculated an optimized warehouse layout model based on the requirements of a pharmaceutical company that manufactures drugs. In addition, a mathematical model was presented to determine the required area according to the storage stack specifications based on various methods of storing products, such as block stacking and single/double-dip flow racks. In the design process, RA/FA was allocated to optimize the storage capacity of the warehouse, and the designs were compared and evaluated by warehouse size. This study proposed an overall optimal conceptual design process that contributes to minimizing investment and annual operating costs when designing warehouse logistics and was able to present solutions for calculating storage area and storage capacity, and the final warehouse layout design model.
