In this study, vanadium dioxide (VO2) powder well known as a thermochromic material was prepared from V2O5 powder and oxalic acid dihydrate by hydrothermal and calcination process at various conditions. The chemical bonding and crystal structures in addition to thermal property of samples were determined using FE-SEM, XRD, XPS, and DSC. Also, spectroscopic and thermochromic properties of film samples were analyzed by UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy after the thin film was prepared from the sol dispersed with the size of below 50 nm by the ball-milling of powder sample. With increasing the calcination temperature, the phase transition temperature of samples increased from 40 ℃ to 70 ℃ due to the increase of particle size.

In this study, zinc oxide (ZnO) nano powder, well known as an UV absorbing material, was synthesized with three synthetic conditions by the hydrothermal method. After ZnO nano powder was surface-modified with various silane coupling agents to improve dispersion property, a dispersion sol was prepared with dispersant for 72 h by the ball-milling of surface-modified ZnO nano powder. The dispersion sol, prepared by modifying the surface of the ZnO nano powder with an average size of about 30 nm using 3-chloropropyl trimethoxy silane, showed an excellent dispersion stability with a high UV-shielding and visible trnasparency.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the modernization policy in the feedlot, which is one of the most preferred projects for the livestock farmers. In the DEA analysis used for the efficiency measurement, various input and output variables for each type of livestock are considered. For the cattles, the beneficiary farmers are more efficient than the non-beneficiary farmers when the fertility rate, reproductive rate and mortality rate are included as output variables. In the case of pigs and broilers, the efficiency of the beneficiary farmers is higher than that of the non-recipient farmers, but the difference in the efficiency between these two groups is estimated not to be statistically significant. Although the results of differ from one livestock to another, the modernization project is estimated to have a positive effect on the productivity and the decline of the mortality rate. This suggests that the policy contributed to the efficiency improvement of farmers. The modernization policy has also shown a positive effect on the scale of livestock farming through the increases in the number of herds and feedlot size.
