Reburning is one of the most useful and economical technologies to reduce nitric oxide in combustion system. The reburning process was demonstrated as an effective NOx reduction method through injection of a secondary hydrocarbon fuel. An experimental study has been conducted to evaluate the effect of biomass reburning on NOx reduction and CO formation in a liquid fuel flame in combustion furnace. Experiments on NOx reduction of air-carried rice husk powder as the reburn fuel were performed in flames stabilized by a co-flow swirl and fuel staged burner and It was observed that NOx concentrations have considerably decreased by applying biomass reburning.

The low NOx burner, 800㎾ thermal capacity, using light oil is designed and tested to investigate the effects of burner operating parameters on the flame and NOx emission characteristics. The burner is designed to be simultaneously staged by air and fuel. This type of burner has a advantage in NOx reduction. As the fuel rich and lean zone are obviously separated, the thermal hot spots are almost diminished, so that the formation of thermal NOx is restrained.
