본 논문에서는 마이크로그리드(Micro grid, MG)의 설계에서 필요로 되는 에너지저장장치(Energy storage system, ESS)의 최소설비용량을 산정할 수 있는 확률론적 방법론을 제시하였다. ESS기술은 아직까지 경제성 측면에서 매우 높은 설비비용이 필요로 되기 때문에 적정 설비규모를 산정하는 것과 MG의 안정적인 운영을 위해서 최소 설비용량에 대한 가이드라인의 제시가 필요로 된다. 본 논문에서 제시한 방법론은 Non-dispatchable 발전원 출력의 간헐성과 모든 발전기의 고장정지확률을 고려하여 MG가 자체적인 에너지 Self balancing을 유지할 수 있는 ESS의 최소설비용량을 산정할 수 있는 것을 특징으로 한다. In this paper, we propose a probability method to determine minimum capacity of energy storage system(ESS) for Micro-grid. Because of high capital cost of ESS, It's very important to determine optimal capacity of ESS and for stable operation of Micro grid(MG), we should determine minimum capacity of ESS. The proposed method has abilities to consider forced outage rate of generators and intermittent of non-dispatchable generators and minimum capacity make MG keep energy balancing by oneself.

This paper introduce the technology of peak demand reduction using automatic water tank pumping system on the apartment. That systems on the apartments installed water tank can control pumping(electricity) demand. Generally, system peak demand is occurred at the same time on workday and many water pumps consume electric power randomly. At this point, shift of operating time of water pump can reduce peak demand using automatic water tank pumping system. We were operating this system on some apartments for test of effect of peak demand reduction. and we represent result of demand shift. This result suggests that spread of the automatic water pumping system can contribute to reduce system peak demand and reduce system operation cost.
연구개발 성과의 탄소배출 저감 기여도 분석 방법론 개발

한전 전력연구원에서는 탄소중립 분야 연구개발 성과의 탄소배출 저감 기여도를 정량적으로 분석할 수 있는 방법론과 분석 모델을 개발하였다. 이 방법론은 미래전력망의 전원구성 변화를 반영한 분석이 가능하고 직접적인 탄소배출 저감 기술은 물론 간접적으로 탄소배출 저감에 기여하는 기술에 대한 분석도 가능하다는 장점을 갖고 있어 향후 체계적인 탄소중립 기술개발 추진전략 수립에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. KEPCO Research Institute has developed the estimation method for contribution of R&D results to reducing carbon emission. This method can consider the generation mix change in the future power system and can handle many kinds of R&D project results that not only direct contribution to carbon emission reduction but also indirect contribution. We are convinced that this method can be contributed to establish the more systematic R&D strategies.
제3차 전력수급기본계획에 따른 시장지배력 행사가능성 및 영향분석

In this paper, we try to analyze the likelihood of exercising the power of market dominance by certain generators in future power industry of Korea. Firstly, we estimated installed generation capacity and sales volume of electricity in Korea, based on "The 3rd Long Term Power Plan" which was announced in December 2006. Secondly, we calculated HHI, an index showing the degree of concentration of an industry, and RSI, an index showing how adequate the supply of goods or services of an industry is, using Fast-Forward. Thirdly, assuming a major generator employs the strategy of withholding a part of its available capacity at a peak time, we simulated hypothetical movement of SMP over a certain period of time, which is compared with that obtained without assuming such strategy to generate Lerner Index, an index showing the degree of market power of a monopoly. Regulators, home and abroad, have not given much interest in analyzing the effect of market dominance that is likely to be exercised by certain players in the future. That said, this paper provides insight into developing methodologies of analyzing and mitigating such effect by proposing the above indices to gauge it. In addition, this paper also shows the potential impact of employing capacity withholding strategy on the financial account of a dominant generator.
대규모 발전단지 상시제약 감소를 위한 에너지 저장장치(ESS) 적용에 관한 연구

Prepare a lose of 765kV transmission route in power system operation condition, there are some Special Protection Scheme(SPS)s in Korean power system. These SPS can make some preselected generators are tripped to avoid generator overspeed. Because of many of the new large power plants are installed to existing power generation sites due to the siting problem, the number of generator tripped by SPS should be increased. But that can be a cause of system frequency change under the Under Frequency Relay(UFR) 1st pickup level 59.0Hz. Therefore generation constraint should be considered until new transmission lines are installed. In this paper, we propose the ESS application for generation constraint mitigation by frequency damping control of ESS. To analysis an effect of ESS application, we use PSS/E dynamic simulation tool, CBEST model and controller model. The proposed ESS application is applied to the empirical Korean power system.

Micro Grid(MG)는 새로운 개념의 전력시스템으로 Smart Grid 기술의 일환으로 관심을 받고 있다. 기본적인 MG의 개념은 신/재생에너지를 포함한 분산전원의 도입 및 효율적인 계통운영이지만 여기에는 전력공급의 신뢰성과 경제성이 배제될 수 없는 요소임은 확실하다. MG라는 새로운 계통의 개념을 도입하는데 있어서 기존 전력계통(Utility Grid)과의 간섭, 신뢰도 및 전력품질의 문제들이 해결해야 하는 숙제로 떠오르고 있는데 이에 대한 대안 중 하나가 에너지저장기술이다. 그러나 본 기술은 아직까지는 초기투자비 및 운영유지비가 매우 높은 수준이기 때문에 MG의 설계에 있어서 신뢰도와 경제성을 함께 고려한 Energy Storage System(ESS)의 설치방법이 필요로 된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 공급신뢰도기준을 충족할 수 있는 ESS의 최소필요용량 및 적정투자시점을 결정하는 확률론적 방법을 제안하고 이에 대한 사례연구를 수행하였다. MEAC를 적용한 HVDC Run-up SPS의 안정도향상 효과분석

In spite of continuous increase of electric power demand and new generation plants, it is very difficult to install new transmission line. Therefore, it comes to be difficult to operate the power system stable, so it is required to find another way to get new transmission capacity. Because HVDC transmission system installation is the one of the best option for us, we have undertake the HVDC project in mainland. Buckdangjin-Goduck HVDC project(500kV, 3GW) is currently under construction and Eastern Power HVDC project(500kV, 8GW) is under the study for technical specification. Both of them have the Run-up SPS function for taking action of 765kV Transmission line fault. The Run-up SPS function increases the active power output of the HVDC rapidly when the transmission line between the power plant and network is tripped, thereby preventing the generator from overspeed and improving the power system stability. In this paper, we propose MEAC(Modified Equal Area Criteria) method based on traditional EAC method to quantitatively evaluate the effect of the HVDC run-up SPS function on the power system stability improvement.
