This paper presents the influence of the airgap tolerance on performance of a linear induction motor. Construction tolerance of the plate affects directly to the cost and performance of the Linear metro. LIM has around 10[mm] large airgap with many restrictions such as construction tolerance, thermal expansion and bend of the reaction plate, abrasion of the wheel, and so on. In order to have steady performance, the airgap should be uniform. But it is impossible to maintain the secondary reaction plate be flat along with the long track. Therefore the influence of the flatness on performance of a LIM should be investigated.

A powered system with fuel cell is regarded as a high current and low voltage source. Effects of the loads on the electrical power source are important to optimize the integrated power system. The design parameters of the system should be chosen by taking into account the characteristics of the fuel cell, so the costs of the power system at given operating conditions can be reduced. Furthermore, the dynamics characteristic of the system is crucial to acquire performance in applications, particularly interactions between loads and the fuel cell system. Currently, no integrated simulation has been approached to analyze interrelated effects. Therefore, the dynamic models of power conversion system with a PEM fuel cell that includes the PEM fuel cell stack, DC/DC converter and associated controls is developed. Electric lads for the system are derived by using a power theory that separates a load current into active, reactive, distortion or a mixed current component. Dependency of the DC capacitor on the loads are analyzed.

In general, a third rail current collecting shoegear is used widely in the light rail transit system, which is more efficient than overhead pantograph. Therefore, Korean standard specifications for the light rail transit prescribes for the application of it. This paper describes the development of third rail current collecting shoegears, which is suitable to Korean situation and satisfied with Korean standard specifications. Two types are developed for steel wheel AGT system and rubber tyred AGT system, and various experiments are executed.

Communication Based Train Control System supports the easy maintenance & management and also have the capability to send more informations than the existing one but is less expensive. Tolerance against fault/failure and reliable data transmission are very important issues with this system since it has the responsibility of man"s safety. In this paper, we suggested the schemes to support the reliable transmission quality and fault safety. Also we verified through simulation.

The contact-less inductive power transformer (IPT) uses principle of electromagnetic induction. Generally, there were many methods to improve the transfer performance of traditional transformer. But, though the principle of IPT is similar to that of general transformer, it is impossible to apply the methods because of large air-gap. Consequently, many linear numerical formulas for analysis of performance and design of traditional transformer cannot be used in development of IPT. The concept of the IPT for vehicle like PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and some suggestions for power collector(core & winding) design of IPT to improve power transfer performance are presented in this paper. The characteristic of power delivery with these novel methods in designis presented by simulation and examination.

The inductive power of secondary part is related to amount of linked flux to secondary part by the length of air-gap, which is expected by such a system parameter as leakage reactance and magnetizing reactance. Urban air quality, including carbon-dioxide emissions, and national energy security are related issues affecting the rail industry and transportation sector as a whole. They are related by the fact that (in the United States) 97-98% of the energy for the transport sector is based on oil, and more than 60% is imported. A fuelcell locomotive combines the environmental advantages of a catenary-electric locomotive with the higher overall energy efficiency and lower infrastructure costs of a diesel-electric. Catenaryelectric locomotives, when viewed as only one component of a distributed machine that includes an electricity-generating plant and transmission lines, are the least energy-efficient locomotive type. The natural fuel for a fuelcell is hydrogen, which can be produced from many renewable energies and nuclear energy. and thus a hydrogen-fuclcell locomotive will not depend on imported oil for its energy supply. This paper proposes a base models of Hybrid fuel cell/IPT railway vehicle power system, the necessary of this research.
