This paper describes the research on the pedestrian safety to help a better performance of head injury criteria(HIC). The importance of pedestrian protection is emphasized in a global context, efforts and challenges in manufacture and engineers. It is noted that mutual relation of a head impact energy management and specific HIC pulse generation in some kind of structural pattern of hood. Hence, this paper includes research dealing with CAE(computational aided engineering)modeling of between head and vehicle as an inelastic collision, characteristics of acceleration pulse and come up with an effective structural design. to the lower HIC value .

As Euro NCAP implemented grid method test of pedestrian protection from 2013, Correlation between test and simulation is a matter which is increasingly important in the vehicle safety. Because pedestrian grid validation need about 150 impact point in a vehicle and it is difficult that all of impact points have test performances. This study is about bonnet damper made of rubber to improve correlation accuracy. In Vehicle CAE filed, damper is used to absorb impact energy or prevent slam with several modeling method of simulation programs depend on characteristic. Our study about material characteristics of bonnet damper will help to understand how much influence on pedestrian injury and what is best way to represent damper property in pedestrian head crash impact with LS-DYNA simulation program.
