The purpose of this study was to review about structuring appropriate practice conditions for instructional sequences. To say that practice is an important part of the learning process for motor skills is to state the obvious. However, the way in which practice is structured is also important. Practice is not simply repetition of the same task. Learning is based on effective, sequential practice, and that, in turn, is based on many factors. First might be the stage of learning. In the initial stage of learning students need to get the idea of a movement which includes an understanding of the goal and the formation of a cognitive plan. The "practice" and automatic stages of learning need to incorporate provisions for closed and open skills. The nature of the skill is extremely important to the structure and sequence of practice conditions. Closed skills require stable practice conditions to increase performance consistency and open skills require variable practice conditions to allow for future adaptation to unpredictable environments. Both open and closed skills need to be performed in environments gradually approximating their final competitive situation. The use of developmentally appropriate equipment is one of the newest and most encouraging methods of regulating task difficulty during practice and has real potential for affecting teachers' sequencing decisions. In all activities, children's motivation depends on sequencing of practice steps that are appropriate in size.

      • 수업 계열화를 위한 체계적 계획에 관한 고찰

윤만형 한국스포츠리서치 2003 한국 스포츠 리서치 Vol.14 No.3

The purpose of this study was to review about systematic planning for instructional sequences. The teacher needs to consider curriculum development as part of his/her job because curriculum and teaching are part of the same process and no one is more appropriate to determine what to teach than the teacher. Curriculum development begins the planning process and regardless of the underlying rationale, sequencing should be based on a spiral of increasing complexity and integration from one grade level to the next. Planning with a purpose includes the formulation of goals of the program and for units. Sequencing is influenced by purposes and how objectives build on and relate to each other. Limiting the number of goals may provide more opportunities for sequencing additional steps within an objective. A task analysis can be used to determine the terminal goals for the particular students, the pre-requisite skills, sequencing of lessons, and where to begin instruction. Finally, in planning individual lessons the structure of the process of content development influences sequencing by helping to assure related intermediate steps between initial exposure to a task and its application in a competitive situation.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reality of elementary school physical education environment. The population of this study was all 115 elementary schools in Kwang-ju city. The subjects, 18 schools were selected by using a stratified cluster random sampling technique by school scale. The research content included the practical situation of physical teaching environment such as extent of playground , facilities, materials and tools, the situation of gymnasium or pool possession and the condition of material keeping-house. The data was collected by direct checking on visiting 18 schools and analyzed through statistical procedures using the frequence, percentage and Chi-square test. The major results of this study were as follows; First, playground area per a student had a big gap to a school scale and was narrow on comparing to another country such as Japan and Singapore. Second, physical education facilities were poor. Third, the possession rate of materials and tools was very low. Fourth, material keeping-houses were not so sufficient space as to use conveniently.

The purpose of this paper is twofold: (1) to briefly examine some theoretical aspects of moral education in physical education and the development of character in sport which emerge from inquiry settings and research. Two theoretical concepts of moral education are briefly discussed: (a) approaches of moral-reasoning(Bandura`s social learning approach and on moral development(Bredemeier & Shields, 1993) and, (2) to focus on a practical approach that can be utilized by practitioners in their work with children and youth. This approach emphasizes the psychological and sociological characteristics of youth programs, ie., prominent practical aspects of the development of character. Critical considerations in character development are reported, followed by an emphasis on some practical implications for the teaching and coaching domains. This study will contribute to promote moral growth through physical activity experiences by showing specific moral education strategies that can be used by physical educators, coaches, sport administrators, parents, and others involved in the world of sport and physical education. It will also provide some `food for thought` for researchers and educators who have an interest in promoting moral education and development of character.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effective plans of performance assessment from an analysis of students' positive and negative perceptions, expectant mode on performance assessment in middle school physical education class. Participators of this study were 275 middle school students from purposive sampling. The contents of this study consisted of positive perceptions, negative perceptions, and expectant mode on physical education performance assessment. And the data was inductively examined through four steps. The conclusions of this study were as follows. The positive perceptions' dimensions of physical education performance assessment were 6 categories; (l)the upgrade of participant intention (2)the progress of motor-performance (3)the assessment of individual's differences (4)the assessment of various factors (5)the effective management of classes (6)the others. The negative perceptions' dimensions of physical education performance assessment were 5 categories; (1) psychological stress (2)insufficient exercise time (3)excessive assessment's criterion (4)the insufficient management of classes (5)the others. And the plans of physical education performance assessment were 5 categories; (l)the proposals of suitable assessment's criterion (2)the proper selection of events (3)the perfect management of classes (4)the assessment of various factors (5)the others. Consequently, middle school students who are doing physical education performance assessment participate intentionally in a class and progress the motor-performance, but they experience psychological stress and insufficient exercise time. Therefore, the future of physical education performance assessment should be carried out four factors; the proposals of suitable assessment's criterion, the proper selection of events, the perfect management of classes, and the assessment of various factors.
