This research investigated the hygrothermal effect on the strength of the bolt jointed section and moisture contents of composites exposed to hygrothermal environment for composite aircraft radome. The decrease in the strength by testing environments is mainly attributed to the change of the material properties of matrix by temperature and moisture. The composite specimens were tested in three different environmental conditions of RTD(room temperature and dry), CTD(cold temperature and dry) and ETW(elevated temperature and wet). The failure mode of the bolt jointed composite specimens are studied by test and finite element analysis. Finite element analysis reasonably predicts the failure load and mode of the joints. Reliability-based design is performed for the bolt jointed composites of radome.

Buckling is undesirable phenomenon in designing mechanical elements. In particular, thin plate has low resistance about buckling due to its geometrical shape. Therefore, engineers have to be carful during the design proccess. Many preceding research derived buckling theories for various boundary conditions, but the solution of buckling mode is not a finite sum and is complicate to applicate in practical cases. Also, since the mathmetical solution of fully clamped rectangular plate is much more complicate than simply supported plate, the need for intuitively usable criteria emerges. Therefore, this study aims to suggest a criterion for clamped plate buckling by using finite element analysis method. From the results of iterative simulations, a criterion with simple straight lines was derived. This criterion does not strictly follow the curve from iterations, but since the derived criterion is simple and easy to applicate, it is worth enough for designing a thin plate.

In this study, the stress and fatigue life of an external mounting pod under the sound pressure were performed through theoretical analysis method at design stage. In order to verify the fatigue life of the stores acoustic noise durability according to the Method 515.5 standard of MIL-STD-810F, FEM analysis was carried out through the Response spectrum analysis and Miners theory.
