고등학교 1학년 실용영어회화 교과서에 나타난 요청 화행의 공손성 전략 분석

효과적인 의사소통을 위해서는 사회적 규범을 이해할 필요가 있다. 많은 영어 학습자들은 영어에 존칭이 없다고 생각하지만, 한국어와는 다른 방식으로 작용하는 공손성 표현이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 영어의 공손성 표현에 대한 학습자들의 인식을 높여 그 표현을 적절하게 사용하도록 돕는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 다섯 종의 고등학교 실용영어회화 교과서에서 발견된 824개의 요청하기 화행을 분석했다. 그 결과 첫째, 소극적 공손성 표현이 가장 많이 사용되었고, 적극적 공손성 표현, 완화 행위 없는 표현, 기타 표현, 암시적 표현이 그 뒤를 이었다. 둘째, 사회적 거리와 대화 참여자의 힘의 차이(사회적 요인)에 근거해 분석한 결과, 대부분의 대화는 사회적 거리가 가깝고 힘의 차이가 없는 친구간, 부부간, 형제자매간에 이루어졌고, 그 다음은 사회적 거리가 멀지만 힘의 차이가 없는 관계에서, 마지막은 사회적 거리도 멀고 힘의 차이도 있는 관계에서 이루어졌다. 셋째, 교과서에서 발견된 공손성 표현 중 몇몇은 사회적 요인을 적절하게 반영하지 못했다. 예를 들어, 친구간에 너무 공손한 표현을 사용하거나, 부모와 자녀 간에 무례한 표현을 사용하는 경우가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 교과서에 사회적 요인을 고려한 적절하고 진정성 있는 대화를 실을 필요가 있음을 시사한다. Communication requires communicative competence that enables speakers to understand sociocultural norms. Many Korean learners think that English does not have honorifics. However, English does have politeness expressions which work in a different way as Korean honorifics do. Thus, the purpose of this study is to increase Korean learners` awareness about English politeness expressions and help them to use the expressions properly.This study targeted the request speech acts in five high school practical English conversation textbooks, and 824 request expressions were found in the textbooks. According to Brown and Levinson`s (1987) Face Threatening Acts theory, these expressions were categorized into four: without redressive action, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The major findings of this study were as follows.First, negative politeness expressions (40%) were used the most. Also, positive politeness expression (36.4%), without redressive action (17.6%), others (5.3%), and off record (0.6%) used in this ratio.Second, the 824 expressions were analyzed by social factors such as social distance and power difference of each conversation`s participants. As a result, most frequent cases were dialogues between friends, couples, and siblings (59.1%), which have low social distance and no power difference. On the other hand, 27.8% of conversations occurred in relationships with high social distance and no power difference, 7.5% with low social distance and power difference, and 5.6% with high social distance and power difference.Third, some politeness expressions in the textbooks did not reflect the social factors properly. They were used over politely between friends or in a rude way between a parent-child relationship.Therefore, the findings suggest that the textbooks need to present appropriate and authentic situational dialogues considering social factors. This can help Korean learners to acquire and use appropriate politeness expressions.

만 1세 이하의 영유아가 사망하는 영아 돌연사 증후군은 매년 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 그 중에서도 특히 질식사는 높은 비중을 차지한다. 이러한 위험이 다가오면 신생아는 울음으로 도움을 요청하지만, 청각장애인 부모의 경우에는 즉각적인 대응이 불가능하다. 따라서 청각장애인 부모의 귀가 되어주어 신생아의 다양한 위험을 방지하고, 육아에 도움을 주고자 한다.

현재 우리 사회에서 대기오염에 대한 문제가 계속해서 대두되고 있다. 항만에서도 대기오염물질 발생에 대한 대책 마련이 필요한 실정이다. 따라서 ELK-Stack을 이용한 SW와 Arduino를 활용한 HW로 항만의 대기질 분석 및 오염도를 시각화하고, 이를 통해 항만 관계자들이 경각심을 기를 수 있는 배경을 마련한다. 또한, 해당 프로젝트로 정부의 친환경 항만 조성 정책에 가담하고자 한다.
