N/A The finite element analysis of a micro turbine was made to investigate safety margin of its operating condition for the high aspect ratio nickel micro turbine blades fabricated by conventional LIGA-like method. From our study, we found that the fabricated turbine could not exceed its yield strength even if the pressure difference between inlet and outlet of turbine blade was about 44kPa, and the correlation of friction coefficient and the maximum stress, caused by contact friction between outer diameter of shaft and inner diameter of turbine blade, was somewhat reciprocal. The maximum stress was decreased with the increasing contact friction, when turbine blade was in its state of rotation. By the results of our study, we conclude that it is possible to fabricate metal micro turbine more easily than surface micromachining technology and to operate with no risk of metal structure`s damage, which is caused by yield strength, if the operating condition with the design of micro turbine itself are optimized. It is useful to adopt other applications which have the contact problems between a moving part and the faced one in micro structures.

This study aimed to replace the current discontinuous rail monitoring system by applying “Plug and Play” technology to axle bearing monitoring system of railroad vehicle to enable real-time monitoring, and by confirming on-condition maintenance efficiency and reliability. It researched a wireless sensor monitoring system which uses SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) sensor technology to monitor temperature changes in the axle bearing during operation. The temperaure change was monitored by pilot SAW sensor which KRRI designed and developed this sensor for the high speed railroad vehicle. The results of the experiment were compared with HDB measurements to confirm the reliability of the real-time monitoring results measured on vehicles during operation

We have fabricated double stacked 385 filamentary Bi2212/Ag round wires which have different Ag ratios. The wires have been heat-treated at the maximum temperature($T_{max}$) of $882{\sim}896^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 h. Effect of heat treatment on critical current density and critical temperature on Bi2212/Ag round wires has been studied. Critical current density of the wire heat -treated at $890^{\circ}C$ showed 206,250 $A/cm^2$ at 4.2 K, 0 T and critical temperature of the wire was 83 K. Microstructure of the wires also has been studied via optical microscopy and SEM.
